00:00Hello and welcome to this Queensland James weather update for Monday.
00:04We have got a band of moisture that's coming in from the northwest.
00:07This is the start of a big weather system that's going to affect southern parts of Queensland
00:12and a lot of the southeast, but not right down in the south.
00:15Cold air about to move across Tasmania.
00:17There's warm air out ahead of that one.
00:19And here is the energy for this system that is still going over in the western parts of the country.
00:23So we've got this cloud building today.
00:25By the end of today, this is how much rain is coming.
00:28So it is a cloud band.
00:30It has got rain falling in it.
00:31It is for the southwestern parts of Queensland.
00:34We just have a little bit of coastal activity that's left in through here.
00:37Here's the warm air out ahead of that one and the cold air really not making it up this far north.
00:42So here we have by the end of Monday.
00:44Here we have by the end of Tuesday some bigger falls in through there right in that southwestern corner.
00:49Birdsville, Sarghamin, you're going to be seeing this in through here.
00:52Let's watch this move eastwards.
00:53Just a little bit of coastal activity as we go into Wednesday.
00:56It has stretched right across the southern parts in through there, still being fed from the northwest.
01:01You'll notice it goes right up to the ranges and then it peters out as it moves over the other side.
01:05Not a coastal system.
01:06This is a western system.
01:08So there we have by Wednesday.
01:10Into Thursday that is all that is left across the southeast and a hint of cool air that is coming through.
01:15But none of the really bitter nights to follow after this one that stays down in the south.
01:19So there we are by the end of Thursday.
01:22Let's watch what's happening to the next high pressure system that will move in on Friday and then out to our east on Saturday.
01:28So that puts a trough in through up here.
01:30We've got our onshore winds.
01:31We've got the return of showers and potentially thunderstorms up in that northern part.
01:35So it's a coastal thing in through here from Saturday onwards that may extend a little further inland in the northern part thanks to that trough.
01:42So there's Saturday and into Sunday and into Monday.
01:46Let's see what that's going to add up to.
01:47Bit of falls in through here, yes, but this is the main event that is in the southwest.
01:5125 to 50 millimetres in that southwestern corner.
01:55It does get less and less as you'd head across.
01:57So 5 to 10 by here, 1 to 5 through there and hardly anything as you head over into the east.
02:02So what does that mean for Brisbane?
02:03On the eastern side of the rangers there, right on that coastline, mostly sunny, 25, jumping up to 28 for tomorrow.
02:10Now, as we go into Wednesday, we'll start to see cloud build during the day and then into Thursday.
02:16That's when temperatures start to drop off a little bit.
02:18We're in a westerly and also the dew point temperature here.
02:20How much moisture is in the air, not keeping us warm.
02:23So Thursday, we'll feel a little on the cool side.
02:26As we go through here, we're really not seeing much in terms of wet weather as that comes through.
02:30Now into Saturday, that's when things change.
02:33We're back up to a dew point of 12 degrees.
02:35We've got easterly winds and there are the chance of showers mainly on Saturday afternoon.
02:38As always, head to File Online Weather for the latest.
