00:00Let's go to Baltimore here, and there's some negotiations going out for a new contract extension for Lamar Jackson.
00:07Do you think he's a $62 million a year player?
00:11I think it's tough, Dan.
00:13I think based off of his skill set, I would say yes, but part of the issue whenever you're looking
00:17at a contract is health.
00:19And Lamar Jackson, when he's healthy, he plays at an MVP level, but he's often been banged up during his
00:25career.
00:26And, you know, you look at these mobile quarterbacks, and Lamar Jackson's a great pure passer, too.
00:30But his biggest weapon is his ability to run the ball in addition to what he does as a passer.
00:35So I would have some concerns about paying him that sum of money.
00:38I know other people will also point to, hey, he hasn't enjoyed playoff success really consistently.
00:44They haven't gotten to a Super Bowl.
00:46They haven't been able to overcome the Chiefs.
00:47They haven't been able to fully get past the Bills or the Bengals and all these teams.
00:51So why would you give Lamar Jackson that massive type of contract when you want to just kind of wait
00:56this out?
00:57But the quarterback market is always rising.
01:00And Lamar Jackson, again, at his peak, top five quarterback in the NFL when he's healthy and a legitimate MVP
01:05candidate.
01:06So I think that the Ravens will probably get that sort of money, and then we'll see if he ends
01:11up being worth it.
01:12And my general thought is as long as he's on the field, he will probably be worth it.
01:17If he's not able to stay on the field, then we'll look back at any contract he signed at the
01:21later stages of his career and say, man, maybe they should have not done that.
01:25But hindsight's always 20-20 with that stuff, Dan.
