00:00yeah a run game was huge for the lions as they got not only a typical jameer gibbs game
00:07here's to the truth here's to kang's guy sione vacchi and look we we talk about this all the
00:14time and that is player development it doesn't always happen right away but it doesn't mean it
00:21can't happen over time and and i don't know the victory laps are necessary today kang but your guy
00:27came through big time and for people who don't know kang's been hyping sione vacchi as a potential
00:32contributor and and probably sat dormant but this is why we plant flags and stand by them
00:38is eventually it can't happen and and a player can get better the way they use them can get better
00:46and there's evolution that takes place your guy was big yeah sione vacchi we already knew he had
00:51a voice of an angel but could he play football okay and so the question was he was just never
00:55really available the last few years the times he'd get in there you could see some flashes here and
00:59there but consistency was an issue because he couldn't stay on the field i always felt like
01:04because people were bringing up we had a lot of trade deadline talk one of the positions should
01:08they bring in a veteran backup running back the way the lions were using vacchi and kept them in there
01:13i just thought they had confidence in him for a reason and it finally paid off maybe this past
01:17you know yesterday this past sunday one of the reasons why jameer gibbs maybe was so good at the end
01:21of the game was because sione vacchi was able to give him some rest and vacchi wasn't just in there
01:26taking up like two yards and three yards just eating up some carries no he was making tacklers
01:30miss he was breaking tackles he was extending plays it was pretty crazy and his past pros gotten a lot
01:35better we all know that already so as much as gibbs looked awesome yesterday i think vacchi deserves
01:41some of that credit for gibbs looking so much more fresh on that two-point conversion play i don't know
01:46why they ran gibbs back out onto the field like he was clearly winded he didn't know they were going
01:50for
01:50two they called him over from wherever he was at the end of the bench to come in and not
01:54only just
01:54come in give him the ball like the guy was exhausted i've never seen gibbs hired until that moment and
02:01that's where hey guess what now you know vacchi can go in there and give you something more than
02:06something he can be a contributor so that was a big game for vacchi and maybe that's one less thing
02:11brad holmes has to look for at the trade deadline well that's that could be it right that could be
02:16the
02:16biggest part of this their last two drives are so much fun to watch uh gibbs uh went for 17
02:22yards
02:22and that reverse play golf lead blocking a 12 for vacchi 11 for vacchi gibbs for nine nine more for
02:29gibbs then they threw the touchdown pass to jmo the last drive 15 for gibbs eight for gibbs
02:35gibbs for six more you know they were just vacchi for even if it's just three yards it didn't matter
02:41it it was three yards moving the ball forward and extending the chains and then you get the
02:46the jump off side the whole thing it was just fantastic to watch those last two drives when
02:51it mattered and this is are you a running football team well if you're running football team you got
02:55to prove it in the in the final you know 10 minutes of the game and they did they just
03:00absolutely mowed
03:01down the vikings and shoved it right down their throat champ and jump my champ of the weekend is
03:06kelvin shepherd he's taking a lot of heat in this town but if you look at the last three games
03:1053 points allowed by the defense they've changed what they're doing and they played a big yesterday
03:17even though unfortunately lines were were you know fallen like fallen like flies in terms of
03:24defensively and there were some names on the field that you would never imagine be on the field at the
03:29end of a football game uh but but kelvin shepherd has really turned this season around defensively
03:36sione vackey is uh my champ of the week 11 carries 65 yards he had to grow quickly and pass
03:41protection
03:41and he did there was a mistake he made early i think and then from that point on it's all
03:45right
03:45i'm i've got this i'm locked in able to give uh gives a break from time to time as kang
03:50said i thought
03:51that was key i didn't think the vikings respected him at all when he got on the field i think
03:55the
03:55vikings probably breathed a sigh of relief like oh all right well gibbs isn't out here let's pay
03:59attention over oh wait a minute they just gave it to that guy he got six yards what the hell
04:02are we
04:02doing he was great he was a spark that they needed and exactly what gibbs needed to uh my jump
04:08at a
04:08weekend is dylan larkin's camp the the comment from the agent the no deciding he's no longer going to
04:14play i have i have when a player earns a no trade clause that's one thing when a player earns
04:20a no
04:21trade clause and demands a trade that makes it more difficult when a player has a no trade clause
04:25demands a trade limits it to three teams you're really handcuffing and getting in the way when you
04:31then expand it to 10 teams again there's still others that would get involved but when you decide
04:35you're not going to play until you're traded that that's where i said that's too that's the bridge
04:39too far well he's tired of the situation yeah oh you're tired uh my chump is uh the big 10
04:46football
04:47who's good enough to compete for a national championship this year well what the heck you
04:51got ohio state that's going to have to go with a backup quarterback the rest of the way
04:55you've got indiana who switched quarterbacks because uh their quarterback is ineffective last
05:01couple weeks as he's been dealing with an injury you know those are the top two teams oregon is
05:05you know we're already a three loss team and you know now they're they're they're kind of struggling
05:11to get back to where they were is usc the best i mean the usc-ucla game might be the
05:16game in a
05:17century in a big 10 and those are big 10 teams and i don't want to root for either of
05:21those to be
05:22representing the big 10 but that's where we're at right now well uh get your championship votes in
05:27at 248-539-9797 we tally up the votes and post on the website on tuesday who the people select
05:33as champ and chump of the weekend brought to you by sarah chevrolet sterling heights let's go to mark
05:37in detroit you're next on 971 hello mark hey how you doing uh oh jack campus is all right i'm
05:44a big fan
05:45that he is wishing him the best and uh you know but uh moving on from the i think the
05:52other injuries
05:53i think those guys might not play next week but they'll eventually be back so do you think that
06:00the lions if i mean i'm gonna be honest with you i think it might be season injury injury i
06:05mean i hope
06:06he's all right for us uh i'm not i'm not talking about out of football because he has a wipe
06:10and
06:10everything i hope he's all right with that too but i think jack is going to be out for the
06:15season
06:15with that injury so do you think they need to add to the linebacker room too well i mean i'm
06:20not going
06:20to speculate on his injury but if you're asking if they know that they have to of course they should
06:25they should explore they should explore everything um and jimmy rolder's injury what is that gonna what
06:31does that mean i mean i think it was a hamstring that he he left the game with on that
06:34same play
06:36is second to hinder him no roller didn't come back in after i don't think so oh okay okay so
06:44i
06:44mean they're depleted this too they're depleted devon white's out as well with the i think he's
06:49got a broken forearm so i mean brad needs to but i but i give him credit i get a
06:54lion's guts because
06:55seeing that kind of injury can can take you out of past the football because he has to make it
07:01in
07:01life you know i'm saying i'm walking all the day so i get a lion's coaching staff i get a
07:05lion's players credit and uh drew uh the lion's offensive coordinator and calvin shepard i think
07:11i think that was uh their best game yesterday because they tried to run it around the defense
07:17and then they went to the halftime instead of they wanted they ran it straight at them
07:23my and dan cavill please keep juice drugs in there kate mays i think that was a good signing
07:32but i don't think he's better than juice well different skill set you know it's interesting
07:37because we've talked about the depth the last couple years and how critical it is their depth
07:43came through yesterday it really did guys in the secondary guys at linebacker the offensive line
07:50the interior of the offensive line they had players down the depth chart make plays heck their backup
07:55running back you know they they needed guys to step up and guys stepped up in what was the biggest
08:01game the most intense game the most physical game of the year the lion's depth came through
08:07and it was something that was lacking in the last couple years and it's looked it was uh you know
08:13a
08:1360 minute football game there's a lot of season to go and they might have to rely on some of
08:16these
08:17guys way more than anticipated and we'll see how they come through over the long term but on that day
08:22they came through and helped them win a game that could have gone either direction uh all right i
08:27mentioned this earlier we've got this twitter poll out there we're just kind of want to know how
08:32people feel about the division because the way it shapes up kind of interesting right now um
08:38the lions are five and two minnesota is six and one the bears are five and two
08:44the lions are two and oh in the north they hold the tiebreaker over green bay and minnesota they
08:50played both those teams at home chicago and green bay already each have two division losses which
08:55are big when it comes to tiebreakers minnesota still gets to host detroit and they have the
09:01better record than detroit and then chicago makes the huge trade who's the team to beat in this division
09:11here are your options lines that win the division minnesota still team to beat bears due to trade
09:17or too close to call i want to i want to just start with this one of those answers only
09:24has 1.2
09:25percent of the response okay between lions win division minnesota still team to beat bears due
09:31to trade too close to call everything else has gotten a lot of support one of those answers just
09:39one percent yeah one of them only has 1.2 percent of the responses think about it 2 4 8
09:465 3 9 97 97
09:48i want i want people i have my answer what people what i think people were thinking okay but we'll
09:53get to
09:53that today at 10 42 if you want to text over what you think only has 1.2 percent of
09:58course many of
09:59you could just go look you can go vote and comment but we do have a bunch of comments on
10:03that because
