29 October - National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good afternoon. It was quite a wet start across parts of the south and
00:04southeast this morning, particularly across Sussex and Kent, where I'm afraid to say the
00:08rain is set to linger through much of the afternoon. Could be quite heavy at times in
00:12these areas as this rain band slowly sweeps its way southeastwards, but there will be
00:15some drier weather just to the north of it, though we can't rule out some showers, particularly
00:19across parts of the northwest, where they could be heavy at times, with a risk of some
00:23hail and thunder, though this should be mostly isolated, and it's going to be feeling a little
00:28bit cooler than what it did yesterday. Highs reaching around 13 to 14 degrees Celsius across
00:33parts of the south, but only around 10 to 11 degrees Celsius in areas of the north, so feeling
00:39chilly, particularly where we see any breezy weather across northern coasts. Now, through
00:44the course of the evening, any rain across the southeast will eventually clear away, allowing
00:47some clearer skies to develop, similar with the showers. Most of these should die off
00:51through the course of the night, and winds should be mostly light, so of course clear skies, light
00:56winds. That means it is going to be turning chilly. We're likely to see some patchy frost,
01:01though this could be more widespread across Scotland, northern areas of England. So we
01:05are set for quite a chilly start as we head through into Thursday. Not only this, but there
01:09could be some mist and fog in places too. Now, for a time, it should be dry, bright, any mist
01:15and fog clearing away, but eventually we'll see more cloud push in from the west, creating
01:20more hazy spells of sunshine. Also, along with this cloud, we'll see some blustery weather,
01:24particularly across northern Ireland, and also some spells of rain. This could be quite
01:29heavy. So northern Ireland, western areas of Scotland, also northwest England will catch
01:33some of this rain by the afternoon, turning quite blustery, particularly around western
01:37coasts. A chance of gales here, particularly later into the afternoon, and still feeling
01:42fairly cool. Highs once again only reaching around 14 to 15 degrees Celsius, but in that wind
01:48feeling chillier still. Now, as low pressure continues to push in from the west, we'll see more and
01:53more of this rain push into western areas, slowly edging its way eastwards. We'll see
01:58those winds really pick up too. So that leads us into quite an unsettled end to the week,
02:03as low pressure still very much the dominating force. And notice the amount of isobars on
02:07that chart too. So it is going to remain quite blustery, and also with some spells of rain
02:11as we head our way closer into Halloween. But of course, for more updates on your forecast,
