00:01When I say the Browns aren't winning in spite of Deshaun Watson, I don't mean that they're
00:08winning because of Deshaun Watson.
00:12Is that clear?
00:14Yeah.
00:15That sounds like a threat, like I'm talking to my kids.
00:17I didn't mean it like that.
00:18Like, I want to make sure it's very clear to everybody.
00:20Because yesterday, you know, we started getting a little bit of push.
00:24We talked about this a little bit, and then we started getting pushback, and then we got
00:26a lot of pushback.
00:27And I'm like, okay, is this real, or is this just the internet getting loud?
00:31Because I've accused you of this before.
00:33I go, you're catering to people on social media who I don't really don't listen to the show.
00:40I don't care.
00:40They're not real Browns fans.
00:42Like, when you do the Shador thing, I'm like, these people that you're toying with every
00:46day on the internet, one, I believe most of them are just bots or burners accounts.
00:50Two, I believe that they're not Browns fans.
00:53So why do I give a, why do I care what they think?
00:58And I wonder if it's the same way when it comes to Deshaun Watson.
01:02Because there's definitely Shador fans.
01:04They hate him.
01:05They hate that he's done, that they've won anything with him.
01:09And the whole argument is, you wouldn't be four and two, you'd be six and oh, if it were
01:14him.
01:15All right, well, I'm not trying to turn it into a starter versus backup controversy.
01:19I'm talking about a legitimacy conversation.
01:23That's what I'm discussing.
01:24And we got into it yesterday because it's like, hey man, I was against the trade.
01:29I was against the trade in 2022.
01:31I was against the trade when we started discussing the possibilities of a trade in October of 2021.
01:362021, that was on this show, on this show with these people and they know it.
01:42I was against it then.
01:44I've been against it the entire time.
01:46And when I say that they're not winning in spite of Deshaun Watson, I have to continuously
01:53say they're not winning because of him.
01:56They're winning with the help of him.
01:58If we're, if we're giving credit and they're winning because of anybody, they're winning
02:02because of defense and special teams.
02:05But when I watched that game on Sunday, which was almost a full week ago now, and well, Kenny,
02:13he look at the yards he didn't have, look at how terrible they were.
02:16And I go, yeah, but if you ask any of the coaches and you ask any other coach out there
02:20again, coach Lance will bring it up.
02:22That's just a guy, not just a guy, but that's a coach we have on the show on the
02:25air.
02:27He'll say, yeah, but he didn't turn it over.
02:29And so he gave you a chance to win.
02:32And then immediately I I'm getting the stuff, moving the goalposts.
02:35Well, is that what you paid?
02:3646 million.
02:37I didn't pay 46 million to anybody.
02:39And no, you're not getting the return on investment.
02:42$46 million is supposed to go to quarterbacks like my homes and Allen, et cetera, not for
02:47Watson.
02:47But if I just sit here and ask about the money, I'm going to be a very unhappy camper.
02:52None of this means when I say, and people are getting very emotional.
02:56None of this means that a, I want to give him another $46 million B I'm even really thinking
03:03about the future with him.
03:05See, I also wonder, and I'll tell you this, it's weird.
03:08I know everybody's beaten up on Jay Crawford for what he said.
03:11I wonder, it's made me wonder because of some of the pushback I've got online, is Jay Crawford
03:16really that crazy for what he said?
03:18Or is he, did he just say the quiet part out loud for certain people out there about this
03:23four and two football team?
03:24I mean, I've seen, I've seen people anytime our videos get clipped and we're saying anything
03:31favorable about the Browns.
03:32Yeah.
03:32People come in with that opinion, like, come on, they're four and two, they beat the backup
03:36for the Ravens.
03:38Watts has been garbage for three quarters.
03:40And let me say this, Jay's been on this show before.
03:43I know he's on a different network.
03:44I got respect for Jay Crawford.
03:46I just disagree with what he said.
03:48But I've gotten so much pushback on, I go, did Jay just end up saying what some people
03:54want to say, and that he's just taking the public beating that everybody else is afraid
04:02to take.
04:02I think he is speaking for a segment of the fan base, yes.
04:05I wanted to make sure.
04:06But I can't believe it when I'm going, hey man, he's not turning the ball.
04:09Well, turnover-worthy plays.
04:10Every quarterback's going to have turnover-worthy plays.
04:12The last two weeks, I don't think he's had a lot of turnover-worthy plays at all.
04:15And when I say that he's not running himself into sacks, people bring up the sack numbers
04:19and I go, hold on, hold on, hold on.
04:20None of us say that the offensive line is fantastically great.
04:24And also, none of us are saying that he's doing a really great job.
04:29And when I get the stuff about, can you have a low bar?
04:32Yeah.
04:32They won eight games over the last two years.
04:35My bar is exceedingly low.
04:37And I've never said that this team can win a Super Bowl.
04:40I think that they can approach the playoffs.
04:42I have them in the playoffs in seven and have it at number seven.
04:46At number seven.
04:48So I do believe that the bottom can fall out at any time.
04:51The Tennessee Titans are more bun.
04:53They won with special teams on Sunday, last Sunday.
04:56The Tennessee Titans are a bad franchise.
04:58It's a bad football team.
05:00A quarterback that they have is seeing ghosts.
05:02I feel bad for him right now.
05:04I think Robert Sala's fine, but I think he's got both hands tied behind his back with what
05:08he's been given with this mess that he's taken over.
05:11And I think that's top down with them.
05:14And I sit there and I go, okay, you can still lose to that football team.
05:18And if you lose to that football team, then what's going to happen?
05:21Like, I know we're not out of the woods.
05:23And when I say, like, hey, they've won with the help of Deshaun Watson.
05:27He hasn't done a bad job.
05:29Doesn't mean he's done a good job.
05:30He's just, he's been fair.
05:33And boy, I took a beating yesterday over that.
05:36There's a lot of people.
05:37They just, and then of course, you know, the accusations got brought.
05:40I'm like, well, I mean, we've done that to death for four years.
05:42I don't need to get what's everything was done there.
05:45I don't need to get back into that.
05:46So I'm just not going to have that argument.
05:48If you don't like the guy, you don't like the guy.
05:50I can't make you like the guy.
05:51I don't need you to like the guy.
05:53Okay.
05:53I haven't been the biggest fan myself, to be honest with you.
05:57So I'm just trying to look at it for the football.
05:59You're trying to grade him like any other quarterback that you wouldn't grade.
06:02And by the way, I'm grading him.
06:04I'm grading him against bottom third guys.
06:06And I'm telling you guys.
06:07I'm not grading him against the best.
06:08There are a lot of different sites that are doing the quarterback grades now.
06:12And so you can find, even for Brock Purdy, who's been an MVP candidate,
06:16you can find some sites that think he's making too many mistakes.
06:20Like, it's ridiculous how many people.
06:22I can find numbers.
06:23Yeah, I can find opinions.
06:25The NFL, in allowing all 22 to be accessible to everybody, if you pay for it,
06:30but then it gets online and everybody's doing it, is you can find enough people.
06:35Somebody is going to have the opinion you want that matches you.
06:38Of course.
06:39Somebody's going to have the exact opposite.
06:41I can tell you that there are varying degrees of this when it comes to Watson.
06:47Like, whether it's the turnover-worthy plays or the PFF grades are just all over the map
06:52compared to other sources.
06:54So, it's tough.
06:55It is tough.
06:56Like, you just have to hope that, you know, more games into the season, you know, you're
07:00getting, you know, less noisy data when it comes to it.
07:04I do not think Deshaun Watson has had turnover-worthy plays the last two weeks.
07:08He had the one throw in the rain that he cocked back, and Jerry Judy didn't really fight for the
07:15ball,
07:15and that could have been intercepted.
07:16Yes.
07:17Other than that, I think he's been cleaner in those regards the last two weeks.
07:21And let me stress again, I think the bottom can fall out at any time.
07:25This is not an endorsement of his future with this football team.
07:29But I do not believe they're winning in spite of him.
07:34I don't.
07:36I don't think they're good enough or deep enough to win in spite of him.
07:39That would be if he was turning the ball over, short field, gifting teams touchdowns.
07:43He's not doing any of that.
07:44They're going three and out, which isn't great, but they're putting the football all the way
07:48to the other team's 20.
07:49That's not lighting the house on fire.
07:52I kept seeing that yesterday.
07:54That is not lighting the house on fire.
07:56That's also not, hey, I'm putting a lot of money into the house.
07:59That's, hey, status quo, and it's going to be wear and tear on the house.
08:02So this is weird because we're having a great big agreement fest with each other about Deshaun
08:05Watson of all people.
08:06And I don't know if we've had that over the last five years.
08:09But if he turns over the ball at any point on Sunday, they're three and three.
08:17It's just that simple.
08:18He gave them just enough to keep the defense on the field to give them enough, to put the
08:24defense in a position to give them enough room to defend, to give them enough time
08:28to figure out where Kyle Hamilton's going to be in his tendencies, and then to start to
08:32make changes.
08:33Like, watching this team and talking to who we talk to, there is a lot that is on the
08:40shoulders of this offense that we don't even really discuss all the time.
08:43And there's a lot on the shoulders, I got to tell you.
08:45There's a lot on the shoulders of these two rookie wideouts.
08:47There is a lot more than we realize.
08:49I'm telling you.
08:50Like, there is so much where, remember, after week one, what happened with the nomenclature?
08:55We had to shrink the nomenclature.
08:56So now what do I have to do?
08:58I got my two number one wide receivers on my football team who are both rookies, first
09:03round, second round, and now they have to understand what to do.
09:06I'm having to make these guys, and you know what?
09:08They're good football players, and they're pros, so maybe I should trust them a little
09:11bit more than this.
09:12But I'm taking my wide receivers, and it's like, all right, you're going to have to
09:15develop a routine, or you're going to have to develop a rapport with the quarterback
09:18so you can run a choice route so we can get you open, so we can scheme you open and
09:21try to move the football down the field.
09:23But the Ravens were able to take both those guys out of the game, and so who did they rely
09:27on the vet?
09:28Exactly.
09:29Jerry Judy.
09:30Exactly.
09:30So what else do I have to do?
09:32Everything I just said can't sound like an endorsement of Deshaun Watson and his future
09:36with this football team.
09:37I agree.
09:38Exactly.
09:40But I know it's tough, because we're so used to going, do you have the quarterback or you
09:45don't have the quarterback?
09:46Then get the quarterback.
09:47Okay, you think you have the quarterback?
09:49Can he do this, that, and the other against those guys?
09:52It's just not like that with this team.
09:53They're not winning because of him.
09:55They're not winning in spite of him.
09:56They're winning with the help of him.
09:58They're winning because of defense, because of Andre Schmidt, because they've been able to
10:04get timely turnovers, but also with the help of Deshaun Watson, where their turnover margin
10:09is even.
10:10And the three big things that every coach will tell you, turnover margin, explosive plays,
10:17tackling, is going to help you win every single football game.
10:20It's the three things.
10:22And right now, two of the three are doing pretty good.
10:25So you're able to be four and two against your schedule.
10:28So I do want to know, is that the internet talking to me, or is that how the real fan
10:33feels?
10:342-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
10:37Are the Browns winning in spite of Watson?
10:40I say no.
10:41Do you think I have my head in certain places?
10:44Lima says no.
10:45Do you think he has his head in certain places?
10:48I asked Daryl Ryder at 820 about that.
10:50We'll have Chris Kaiser at 745.
10:51I want to ask you, I want you to answer that question for me in five minutes on the fan.
