00:01I kind of want to ask the people whether or not I should just stand down,
00:04or you should stand down, or I should lighten up on the loss last night.
00:07No, it was a bad loss.
00:09You're right.
00:09According to you, it's just another one of 81 to go.
00:1281 more chances to blow 29-point leads and make everybody upset.
00:16I don't take that loss as no redeeming qualities for this team.
00:20You might as well not watch them.
00:21You might as well not even care about them.
00:24Like, why even bother rooting for them?
00:25They're going to be a good team.
00:27They're going to be a really good team.
00:28Well, that's the whole point of it, Tone.
00:29They beat good teams.
00:30They beat good teams last year.
00:31I never said not to root for them.
00:32I said it's going to be hard to follow them.
00:34Like, if you're –
00:35Because you ain't going to be able to see them unless this announcement is big later on.
00:38Oh, we got Nathan anyway, so I –
00:39Yeah, let's bring on Nathan.
00:40I'll get in on this.
00:42Hi, Nathan.
00:43Hi.
00:44Sorry.
00:44I forgot.
00:45Good morning, Mon Frere.
00:47Nathan, this –
00:47Awful loss.
00:48You are correct.
00:49Awful loss last night.
00:50But one of 82, I'm also correct.
00:52Both can be true.
00:54It's amazing that it's week seven and I'm going,
00:56Nathan, this team is tearing us apart.
00:58And it's the Cavs, not the four and two Browns.
01:02What a moment this is.
01:04Nathan, it's great to have you.
01:05And Nathan is on the Wiseheart right.
01:07We make it right.
01:08Call Kyle right hotline.
01:09Help me with this argument here.
01:11Lime and I, while we disagree a little bit here on this,
01:14what's going on with the Cavs last night,
01:16we've been lockstep, arm in arm even,
01:19that, hey, I don't think the Browns are winning in spite of Deshaun Watson.
01:24I don't think they're winning because of Deshaun Watson.
01:26I think he's helping them win.
01:29And I'm okay with that.
01:31And I think we're caught in this weird spot where they're four and two,
01:37and some people think, well, they either need to be a Super Bowl contender
01:40or they need to be going for the number one overall pick.
01:42And I'm going, man, you guys call in, you beg for wins, they're winning.
01:45And no one said winning was going to be pretty.
01:47I don't understand it.
01:49Help us make sense of it, Nathan.
01:51Well, I really don't understand.
01:53Enjoy this.
01:54The Browns are four and two.
01:55They're in first place in the AFC North.
01:57They've beaten the Steelers and the Ravens so far this year.
01:59And one of the things is, you know, you look at the teams that the Browns
02:03have beaten, Baltimore's four and two, the Steelers are four and two,
02:09Carolina's got a winning record.
02:11I mean, they've beaten teams that have been pretty good,
02:14with the exception Tampa Bay has been, you know, up and down.
02:16They've been mixed, but it's not like the quality of wins
02:18that the Browns have aren't great.
02:20They got blasted by the Jags in week one.
02:22And I think that they've rebounded really well from that.
02:24The loss of the Jets, I think, played in good conditions.
02:26You have a better chance there.
02:27They handled it better.
02:28But you're still four and two here for the Cleveland Browns,
02:31which is a great place to be.
02:32And, no, it's not been pretty.
02:35But what's beautiful about this team is that they have found a way
02:38to come through in the moments that matter the most.
02:42Deshaun Watson in the last two minutes of the game,
02:44and I realize it's a 60-minute game, but in the last two minutes of the game,
02:46has been as good as any quarterback that we have seen since Peyton Manning
02:51in 2015 and Aaron Rodgers in an MVP season.
02:54So they're doing it when they need to.
02:56What I would say is this defense is going to travel.
03:00This defense is legit.
03:01There is absolutely reason to believe that this defense can be a defense that
03:07plays like this all year long.
03:09And then there should be optimism and hope, because we've seen glimpses of it,
03:13not certainly 60 minutes, but that this offense can become more consistent.
03:16And if this offense can become more consistent, and Deshaun can be more
03:19consistent, and we can get something out of the running game,
03:22then this is a team, if it plays even 30 minutes, 45 minutes of offensive football,
03:27let alone 15, has a chance, I think, to be competitive.
03:30And they believe in each other.
03:32They like each other.
03:33They like being around each other on the field and off the field.
03:36And there's something a little bit special about what's going on here
03:38with the Cleveland Browns.
03:40And that's fun.
03:41And let's enjoy it.
03:42And is it sustainable in its current incarnation?
03:45Maybe not.
03:46It's hard to win one-score games week in and week out in the NFL.
03:49That's one of those things that regress to the mean more often than not
03:52in the National Football League.
03:54But there's room for improvement on offense, and it's a young football team.
03:58So let's see where it goes.
04:00Nathan Zaguro with us, Browns Radio Network.
04:03So you talked about the last two minutes.
04:05Let's talk about the first, I guess, 58 minutes when it comes to Deshaun Watson.
04:10What did you see that was causing so many issues with that offense getting into rhythm?
04:16We know they're having trouble running the football, but were wide receivers open?
04:20Did the Ravens have our game plan?
04:23Like, what did you see?
04:25I think it's a combination of a lot of things.
04:27Early in the game, we were terrible on first down.
04:29That puts you in bad situations.
04:30As the game went on, we had some nice first down plays, and then we'd go negative on second
04:33down, which is never fun.
04:34But the Ravens did have their defense had a lot of our routes covered on a great many plays.
04:40I know that was shown on the TV copy of this game, but there was a lot going on with
04:46them
04:46understanding, clearly, Todd Munkin, right?
04:49And so they had a lot of our stuff covered up.
04:51But the Browns, when they needed to come through and make big plays, they certainly did that.
04:55I think that it's about staying ahead of the sticks for this team.
04:58I think that it's critically important on early downs, first and second down, to get
05:01themselves if they are in third, third, and manageable.
05:04It's a team that blitzes a lot.
05:05It's a team that runs a lot of stunts.
05:07And so there were some issues on the offensive line at times.
05:09It's just a combination of things.
05:11If you kind of need to get some first downs to get into a good rhythm, I think that Deshaun
05:16is seeing it well.
05:17I think that there are times when he needs to speed up his process and just take the
05:22quick layup that's there.
05:23And then other times, right, he holds it and he makes plays with his legs or down the field
05:27in the case of Jerry Judy.
05:28To throw Jerry Judy, that's his third read on that play because I think the Browns were
05:33expecting man coverage.
05:34It ended up being a cover two.
05:35And so he was looking for the mesh concept underneath, comes back to Judy.
05:38So that's great quarterbacking.
05:40There's, we need more consistency on offense.
05:43And I think it starts with the ability to control the line of scrimmage, both in the
05:46run and the pass game and for Deshaun to be comfortable.
05:48I think that he has been better certainly than we've seen, but you want him to just be able
05:52to rip it like he does it seemingly at the end of the games for 60 minutes.
05:56And so that's where I have optimism is that we are foreign to, there's no question that
06:02we have not played our best football on offense.
06:04Absolutely.
06:04There's no question in my mind.
06:05We have not played our best football on offense.
06:07So when that comes, if we can keep playing well on defense, I think you have a team that
06:12has a chance to be a contender in your division.
06:14And that's what I start with.
06:15I don't think Superbowl or first pick, I think let's go out.
06:18We're in a position right now where we've got, we're two and O in the division to win
06:22this division.
06:22And boy, wouldn't it be great to do that and host the home playoff game, but we've only
06:26got four.
06:27And I think if you want to win that division, you got to be 10, 11 at least.
06:32So there's still so much work to do here.
06:34And now you're about to go on a three game road trip that is going to really kind of
06:37test the metal of this football team.
06:39And I think it's really important that you go and you start by taking care of business
06:42against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.
06:45Nathan's a girl joining us here on the show, Mason Graham, uh, you know, limited, but practicing
06:50you're foreign to, you know, you need all hands on deck.
06:54I can't believe I'm saying this though.
06:55Can we load manage him?
06:56Do we need him in this game on Sunday?
07:00Yes, you need to, there are no layups in the NFL.
07:03Just ask the Indianapolis Colts who were hosting the own five, Tennessee tights.
07:07Now they turned the ball over three times, even though they have gained them by two to
07:11one in that game, they had a blocked pump return for a touchdown.
07:14And what'd they find themselves?
07:15They lost their GM got fired after that game.
07:17So no, there are no layups.
07:19Obviously you want to be smart with players health, but I think one of the things they were
07:22doing with Mason Graham was being smart about when they brought him back.
07:25It was close last week.
07:27I think he'll be good to go this week.
07:28And that'll be great to get him back for sacks.
07:30Obviously in the early portion of the season was one of the best interior defensive linemen
07:34in the league.
07:35And yeah, you want him because going against the Titans, I think if we can slow down Tony
07:39Pollard, but here's a crazy stat for you.
07:41There are two running backs in the NFL who have rushed for a thousand yards in each of the
07:46last four seasons, Derek Henry and Tony Pollard.
07:49That's it.
07:50That's the list.
07:50Tony Pollard ran for 161 yards against the Browns last time a career high.
07:54So I think we need to limit him.
07:56If you can limit Tony Pollard and put this game into the hands of Cam Ward and third
08:00and longs and an obvious passing situations, I think the Browns defense will be in a great
08:04spot, but yeah, you want all hands on deck.
08:06Carson Swessinger, what a performance last week.
08:09Now you get Mason Graham back offensively.
08:11We should get Quenish on Judkins and Dylan Samson back.
08:13So we're getting a little bit healthier here at the right time.
08:16Nathan, Jeffrey Simmons, if he played for a better team, probably would be known, not
08:23Aaron Donald, but would definitely be one of the most popular defensive linemen in all
08:28the league.
08:29I think this is a great test for Austin Barber, a great test for Zion Johnson, the entire offensive
08:33line.
08:34How would you go about neutralizing him and also collecting first downs and running an
08:38offense?
08:39Yeah, he's the guy that you've got to kind of start with him on their line.
08:43Now their ends are both having good seasons.
08:45In fact, their front four has 12 sacks through six games.
08:48So they're doing a great job.
08:50Last week, Simmons wrecked a little bit of that game against the Colts.
08:53Two sacks, a forced fumble.
08:54He was all over the field, a couple tackles for a loss as well.
08:57So yeah, that's a big one for Austin Barber.
08:59You're exactly right about that.
09:00That's kind of where he'll line up a lot of the time.
09:04Zion has played really well in pass pro.
09:06So I think this is one of the games where maybe you slide the center, you slide to his side
09:11more often than not.
09:12John Franklin Myers is a very good player, not the pass rusher that Jeffrey Simmons is.
09:17Excuse me.
09:18So I think that that is very important.
09:20Now they've got good ends in Martin and Johnson on the outside.
09:22But yeah, Jeffrey Simmons, you're exactly right.
09:25Greg Cosell on our show yesterday called him the best interior defensive lineman in the
09:29NFL.
09:30He is a game wrecker.
09:31And it's very important.
09:32And I think that the Browns do not let him wreck the game like he did against the Indianapolis
09:36Colts.
09:37All right.
09:37I want to go around the NFL with you.
09:39Let's start out locally.
09:40AFC North.
09:41Who, Nathan Zagura, would you wager on right now will finish dead last by the end of the
09:49year in this division?
09:51The Steelers.
09:54Whoa!
09:56Send it over to our buddies.
10:00Holy macaroni.
10:01I mean, I think the Ravens are still a really good football team.
10:05And I think that the Bengals are a really good football team.
10:07And I just think from a talent standpoint, those two teams are more talented.
10:12I think our division is unfortunately for us.
10:15Top to bottom, pretty darn good.
10:17You know, the Steelers are still playing pretty good defense.
10:19Jeremy Bernard looks like he could become the Randall Cobb for Aaron Rodgers.
10:23And so that's a big, that's a big for him.
10:26He likes to have that kind of a player in his offense.
10:29And last week had the 10 catches and the touchdown.
10:31So Jeremy Bernard is a nice addition.
10:34But I think the Steelers just, it's a talent situation.
10:38I'm not putting the Browns there.
10:39I like what we're doing.
10:40We've already beaten the Steelers.
10:41I like the Bengals.
10:42I like the Ravens.
10:43And it's by default.
10:44I think this is, this is arguably the best division in football.
10:47Top to bottom, along with the NFC North.
10:49Both Norths are really, really good.
10:52I'll be dipped.
10:53Um, all right.
10:54Now this is, I'm not trying to trap you in anything, get you aggregated or anything like
10:58that.
10:58I know this can be sensitive.
11:00Do you think the Rams were cursed by the team of destiny moniker?
11:05Now Puka Nakua is hurt.
11:07I'm sorry.
11:08Stupid teams.
11:09No, no, no.
11:10It goes back to what you said.
11:11And maybe you were right after week one that the Rams were cooked, but I still don't think
11:14they are.
11:15Oh, champions pose, baby.
11:17I remember that.
11:18Yeah, we got into it.
11:21I remember it as well.
11:23I'm not afraid to say that right now you're looking pretty good as they sit here at two
11:26and four, but it's kind of one of those weird things.
11:30I go back to that Eagles team, right?
11:31Where they had Vic and they brought in Nnamdi Asamoah and they had, you know, it was, they
11:35called them a dream team.
11:37That has not worked out in the NFL like it certainly can work out in the NBA.
11:42I just think that it's one of those, it's a strange thing.
11:45I'm certainly would not be, I would not write them off at this juncture, but when you look
11:51at the records that are being accumulated in, let's say the NFC North, it's not going to
11:57be easy to be a wild card in the NFC right now.
12:01It's just not.
12:02And so they need to get going.
12:05Seattle is helping them out by not necessarily being so good right now.
12:08Obviously you're thinking the Niners are going to win the NFC North.
12:11They've got a four game lead and the Rams with a head to head win.
12:14And they've got a three game lead, I think on the Seahawks with a head to head win.
12:17So you feel pretty good about them winning the division.
12:19There's probably only going to be one team out of the South.
12:22They're lucky that there might only be one team out of the East.
12:25And so really comes down to, can all four in the NFC North get in or can the Rams, the
12:31Rams Seahawks.
12:32And I think those three teams in the NFC North, that's five teams for three spots.
12:36That's kind of how it's looking for them.
12:37So they got to get it going.
12:38They got to get it going quickly.
12:40I mean, losing a game to the Arizona Cardinals in which the Cardinals did not score a touchdown
12:45is absolutely stunning.
12:51I remember the team at Destiny because it starts with them on the cover of ESPN, ESPN
12:56the Magazine when there was an ESPN the Magazine and Terrell Owens doing crunches by the end
13:00of the season in his driveway.
13:01Lima, what do you got for Nathan Zagura here?
13:03Well, MVP right now in the league, obviously, people are sleeping on Patrick Mahomes.
13:10They're undefeated, but the numbers aren't crazy good like earlier in his career.
13:14So how would you rank your MVP favorites?
13:18Well, first of all, I don't even think Patrick Mahomes is the MVP of the Kansas City Chiefs.
13:22Wow.
13:23Flame throw in Zagura.
13:26Kenneth Walker is the MVP of the Chiefs, and you can make a case for the fact that Kenneth
13:29Walker is the MVP of the league.
13:31I mean, Kenneth Walker is bananas what Kenneth Walker is doing week in and week out.
13:37I think he's averaging like 160 yards a game, which is ludicrous on the ground.
13:42I think the MVP of the league is Brock Purdy.
13:44I think the coach of the year is Kyle Shanahan.
13:46Think about all the injuries and stuff that they've dealt with, and yet they've still
13:49gone out there, and they've found a way to win.
13:52They're doing a remarkable job.
13:53I think Brock Purdy is probably your MVP right now.
13:56Kenneth Walker is certainly, though, in the discussion because he has been spectacular.
14:01All right.
14:02Rapid fire.
14:03I've got less than 60 seconds.
14:05By November 15th, who is Khalil Mack playing for?
14:12Oh, my goodness.
14:13That's a great question.
14:16Maybe the Niners.
14:18The Niners are so banged up, they could use another pass rusher.
14:20Get them to the Niners.
14:21All right.
14:22By November 15th, who is Jonathan Taylor playing for?
14:31Oh, he broke up.
14:33Oh, wow.
14:35Oh, my gosh.
14:36My, oh, my.
14:38Cincinnati would make a...
14:38I mouthed.
14:40I turned the mic off and said Seattle to Lima.
14:42I was guessing your answer.
14:45Seattle would be pretty...
14:46I mean, they used a first-round pick on Jadarian Price.
14:48I know he's on IR.
14:49They just brought Charbonnet back.
14:50Seattle could be one, but then it was like, why didn't you just sign Kenneth Walker?
14:54That doesn't seem very...
14:55Super Bowl MVP.
14:56That doesn't seem very Seattle.
14:57You're right.
14:57But that doesn't seem very Cincinnati.
14:59Trading for Jonathan Taylor in the middle of the season, does it?
15:03It certainly doesn't, but I was just trying to think off the top of my head really quickly
15:07who's the team that is in the mix that could use a boost to their running game.
15:12And, you know, Chase Brown is, I think, a very good player, but maybe he's better on
15:16being a pass catcher.
15:18You know, it's him and P. Ryan.
15:20If you drop Jonathan Taylor on that team, that'd be a pretty potent offense.
15:24We'd play him twice.
15:26We don't play Cincinnati until December 6th.
15:29All right.
15:29You're all right.
15:30Nathan, thank you so much for the time.
15:33You're wonderful always.
15:34This one was even more wonderful.
15:36It felt really special.
15:37It was good to be a part of magic like this with you guys in the morning.
15:40Thank you very much.
15:42Nathan Segura on the Wise Heart Right.
15:45We make it right.
15:45Call Kyle Right Hotline.
15:46We make it right.
