00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 12
04:59Deliver, Lord, for the godly have disappeared.
05:03People of integrity have vanished.
05:06People lie to one another.
05:08They flatter and deceive.
05:11May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,
05:14and the tongue that boasts.
05:17They say, we speak persuasively.
05:20We know how to flatter and boast.
05:23Who is our master?
05:26Because of the violence done to the oppressed,
05:29because of the painful cries of the needy,
05:31I will spring into action, says the Lord.
05:34I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.
05:39The Lord's words are absolutely reliable.
05:43They are as untainted as silver purified in a furnace on the ground,
05:49where it is thoroughly refined.
05:52You, Lord, will protect them.
05:55You will continually shelter each one from these evil people.
06:00For the wicked seem to be everywhere when people promote evil.
06:05Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:09as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:13world without end.
06:16Amen.
06:19Psalm 13
06:21How long, Lord, will you continue to ignore me?
06:26How long will you pay no attention to me?
06:29How long must I worry and suffer in broad daylight?
06:34How long will my enemy gloat over me?
06:38Look at me, answer me, O Lord my God,
06:42revive me, or else I will die.
06:46Then my enemy will say,
06:48I have defeated him.
06:50Then my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.
06:56But I trust in your faithfulness.
06:59May I rejoice because of your deliverance.
07:02I will sing praises to the Lord when he vindicates me.
07:07Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
07:11as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
07:15world without end.
07:17Amen.
07:21Psalm 14
07:24Fools say to themselves,
07:26There is no God.
07:28They sin and commit evil deeds.
07:31None of them does what is right.
07:34The Lord looks down from heaven at the human race
07:37to see if there is anyone who is wise and seeks God.
07:42Everyone rejects God.
07:44They are all morally corrupt.
07:46None of them does what is right,
07:49not even one.
07:52All those who behave wickedly do not understand.
07:55Those who devour my people as if they were eating bread
07:58and do not call out to the Lord.
08:02They are absolutely terrified,
08:05for God defends the godly.
08:08You want to humiliate the oppressed,
08:11even though the Lord is their shelter.
08:15I wish the deliverance of Israel would come from Zion.
08:18When the Lord restores the well-being of his people,
08:22may Jacob rejoice.
08:24May Israel be happy.
08:26Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
08:29and to the Holy Spirit,
08:30as it was in the beginning,
08:32is now, and ever shall be,
08:35world without end.
08:36Amen.
08:42The Book of Wisdom, Chapter 10
08:47Wisdom guarded to the end
08:48the first-formed Father of the world
08:50that was created alone
08:52and delivered him out of his own transgression,
08:56giving him strength to get dominion over all things.
09:00But when an unrighteous man fell away from her in his anger,
09:04he perished himself in the rage wherewith he killed his brother.
09:10When for his cause the earth was drowning in a flood,
09:14Wisdom again saved it,
09:16guiding the righteous man's course by a poor piece of wood.
09:22Moreover, when the nations consenting together in wickedness
09:25had been confounded,
09:27Wisdom knew the righteous man and preserved him,
09:30blameless to God,
09:32keeping him strong when his heart yearned toward his child.
09:38When the ungodly were perishing,
09:40Wisdom delivered the righteous man.
09:43When he fled from the fire
09:45that descended out of heaven on Pentopolis,
09:48to those whose wickedness was smoking waste was witness.
09:53Plants bearing fair fruit
09:55that come not to ripeness.
09:58Yes, and the disbelieving soul has a memorial there.
10:02A pillar of salt still stands.
10:06Having passed Wisdom by,
10:08not only were they disabled
10:10from recognising the things which were good,
10:13but they also left behind them a human life
10:15as a monument of their folly.
10:19To the end that where they went astray
10:22they might fail even to be unseen.
10:25But Wisdom delivered out of troubles
10:27those who waited upon her.
10:30When a righteous man was a fugitive
10:32from a brother's wrath,
10:33wisdom guided him in straight paths.
10:37She showed him God's kingdom
10:39and gave him knowledge of holy things.
10:42She caused him to prosper in his toils
10:45and multiplied the fruit of his labour.
10:48When in their covetousness
10:50men dealt harshly with him.
10:52She stood by him and made him rich.
10:55She guarded him from enemies.
10:58From those that lay in wait
10:59she kept him safe.
11:01And over his sore conflict
11:03she watched as judge.
11:05That he might know that godliness
11:07is more powerful than all.
11:11When a righteous man was sold
11:13wisdom forsook him not
11:15but delivered him from sin.
11:18She went down with him into a dungeon
11:20and in bonds she did not leave him
11:23until she brought him the sceptre of a kingdom
11:27authority over those that had dealt tyrannically with him.
11:31She showed them also to be false
11:33that had accused him
11:34giving him eternal glory.
11:38Wisdom delivered a holy people
11:40and a blameless seed
11:41from a nation of oppressors.
11:44She entered into the soul
11:45of a servant of the Lord
11:47withstanding terrible kings
11:49in wonders and signs.
11:51She rendered to holy men
11:53a reward for their toils.
11:55She guided them along a marvellous way
11:57become to them a covering in the daytime
12:00and a flame of stars through the night.
12:04She brought them through the Red Sea
12:06leading them through the water
12:08but their enemies she drowned
12:11and out of the bottom of the deep
12:13she cast them up.
12:15Therefore the righteous plundered the ungodly
12:18and they sang praises to your holy name
12:21O Lord
12:22extolling with one accord
12:23your hand that fought for them
12:26because wisdom opened the mouth
12:27of the dumb
12:28and made the tongues of babes
12:31to speak clearly.
12:33This is the word of the Lord.
12:36Thanks be to God.
12:47Mary said
12:48My soul exalts the Lord
12:51and my spirit has begun to rejoice
12:54in God my Saviour
12:56because he has looked
12:57upon the humble state of his servant.
13:02For from now on all generations
13:04will call me blessed
13:05because he who is mighty
13:08has done great things for me
13:10and holy is his name.
13:13From generation to generation
13:15he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:19He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:22He has scattered those whose pride
13:25wells up from the sheer arrogance
13:27of their hearts.
13:29He has brought down the mighty
13:31from their thrones
13:31and has lifted up those
13:33of lowly position.
13:35He has filled the hungry
13:37with good things
13:38and has sent the rich away empty.
13:41He has helped his servant Israel
13:44remembering his mercy
13:46as he promised to our ancestors
13:49to Abraham
13:50and to his descendants
13:52for ever.
13:54Glory be to the Father
13:56and to the Son
13:57and to the Holy Spirit
13:58as it was in the beginning
14:01is now and ever shall be
14:03world without end.
14:06Amen.
14:13The Gospel according to Saint Luke
14:15chapter 22
14:19Now the Feast of the Unleavened Bread
14:22otherwise called the Passover
14:23was a preaching.
14:25The chief priests
14:26and the experts in the law
14:28were trying to find some way
14:30to execute Jesus
14:31for they were afraid of the people.
14:34Then Satan entered Judas
14:36the one called Iscariot
14:38who was one of the twelve.
14:40He went away
14:41and discussed with the chief priests
14:43and officers of the temple guard
14:44how he might betray Jesus
14:47and hand him over to them.
14:50They were delighted
14:51and arranged to give him money.
14:54So Judas agreed
14:55and began looking for an opportunity
14:57to betray Jesus
14:58when there would be no crowd present.
15:03Then the day for the Feast
15:05of the Unleavened Bread came
15:07on which the Passover lamb
15:09had to be sacrificed.
15:12Jesus sent Peter and John saying
15:14go and prepare the Passover
15:16for us to eat.
15:18And they asked
15:19where do you want us to prepare it?
15:22He said to them
15:23listen
15:23when you enter the city
15:25you will be met by a man
15:26carrying a jar of water.
15:30Follow him into the house
15:31that he enters
15:32and tell the owner of the house
15:34the teacher says
15:35where is the guest room
15:37where I may eat the Passover
15:39with my disciples?
15:44Then he will show you
15:46a large furnished room upstairs.
15:49Make the preparations there.
15:52So they went
15:53and found things
15:54just as he had told them
15:55and so they prepared
15:57the Passover.
15:59Now when the hour came
16:00Jesus took his place
16:02at the table
16:02and the apostles
16:03joined him
16:04and he said to them
16:06I have earnestly desired
16:08to eat this Passover
16:09with you before I suffer.
16:11For I tell you
16:12I will not eat it again
16:13until it is fulfilled
16:15in the kingdom of God.
16:18Then he took a cup
16:20and having given thanks
16:21he said
16:22take this
16:23and divide it
16:24amongst yourselves.
16:26I tell you
16:26that from now on
16:27I will not drink
16:28of the fruit of the vine
16:29until the kingdom
16:31of God comes.
16:34Then he took the bread
16:35and after giving thanks
16:37he broke it
16:38and gave it to them
16:39saying
16:40this is my body
16:42which is given for you
16:43do this in remembrance
16:46of me.
16:48In the same way
16:49he took the cup
16:50after they had eaten
16:51saying
16:52this cup
16:53that is poured out
16:54for you
16:55is the new covenant
16:57in my blood.
17:00but look
17:00the hand of the one
17:02who betrays me
17:03is with me
17:03on the table
17:05for the son of man
17:06is to go
17:07just as it had been determined
17:09but woe to the man
17:10by whom he is betrayed.
17:13So they began
17:14to question
17:15one another
17:15as to which of them
17:16it could possibly be
17:18who would do this.
17:21a dispute
17:22also started
17:23amongst them
17:23over
17:24which of them
17:25was to be regarded
17:26as the greatest.
17:29So Jesus said to them
17:31the kings of the Gentiles
17:33lord it over them
17:34and those in authority
17:36over them
17:36are called
17:37benefactors.
17:40Not so with you
17:41instead
17:41the one who is
17:42greatest amongst you
17:43must become
17:44like the youngest
17:45and the leader
17:47like the one
17:47who serves.
17:49For who is greater
17:50the one who is
17:52seated at the table
17:53or the one who serves?
17:55Is it not the one
17:56who is seated
17:57at the table?
17:59But I am among you
18:00as the one who serves.
18:02You are the ones
18:03who have remained
18:04with me
18:05in my trials
18:06and so I grant
18:07you a kingdom
18:08just as my father
18:09granted to me
18:10that you may eat
18:12and drink
18:13at my table
18:13in my kingdom
18:14and you will sit
18:16on thrones
18:17judging the twelve tribes
18:18of Israel.
18:20This is the word
18:22of the Lord.
18:23Thanks be to God.
18:34Now according to your word
18:36Sovereign Lord
18:37permit your servant
18:39to depart in peace
18:40for my eyes
18:42have seen
18:43your salvation
18:44that you have prepared
18:45in the presence
18:46of all peoples
18:47a light
18:49for revelation
18:50to the Gentiles
18:51and for glory
18:53to your people Israel.
18:56Glory be to the Father
18:58and to the Son
18:59and to the Holy Spirit
19:00as it was
19:02in the beginning
19:03is now
19:03and ever shall be
19:04world without end.
19:07Amen.
19:12I believe in God

19:15maker of heaven
19:17and earth
19:17and in Jesus Christ
19:19his only Son

19:21who was conceived
19:23by the Holy Spirit
19:24born of the Virgin Mary
19:26suffered
19:27unto Pontius Pilate
19:30was crucified
19:31dead
19:32and buried
19:33he descended
19:34into hell
19:35on the third day
19:37he rose again
19:38from the dead
19:39he ascended
19:40into heaven
19:41and is sitting
19:42at the right hand
19:43of God
19:44the Father Almighty
19:46from there
19:47he shall come
19:48to judge
19:48the living
19:49and the dead
19:51I believe
19:52in the Holy Spirit
19:53the Holy Catholic Church
19:55the communion
19:56of saints
19:56the forgiveness
19:58of sins
19:58the resurrection
20:00of the body
20:01and the life

21:08and ever
21:09Amen
21:14O Lord
21:15show your mercy
21:16upon us
21:17and grant us
21:19your salvation
21:23protect and guide
21:24those in authority
