00:00good morning ray good morning everyone not not a golf day today ray unfortunately i don't know
00:07if you were planning no no not today no got a few things cooking today so no no golf i'm
00:15gonna wait
00:15till i get back to florida to play some golf well i mean a little bit of an early season
00:21run this
00:22bruins team is on that is uh that is three in a row and uh they are looking reasonably good
00:29here
00:29at the start of the season yeah they uh they are i was at the game on uh saturday against
00:36philly and
00:36they look really good probably their best game to go with the uh opener against the rangers i think
00:42in terms of close to 60 minutes and a really solid uh a solid game um you know got off
00:50to a nice uh
00:51you know that first road trip uh uh nice win against winnipeg and now they got four on the road
00:57and they
00:58got off to a good start the other night against uh san jose that uh is an up and coming
01:03team um
01:05you know i i was i was up late watching it till i i got to the second with two
01:10minutes left in the
01:11second period they're up 3-2 and uh just checked out the next morning and they're up 6-3 so
01:17really
01:17good start to uh west coast road trip where you know you find yourself with a couple of days where
01:25there's some good bonding that could be going on i think they they said they got out there a little
01:30early on a sunday and so that you know they probably had a really nice meal on sunday night and
01:35playing yesterday and then a day kind of a day off after a big win where uh i'm sure there
01:42was a couple
01:43of good dinners and all that i don't think i think it's too early probably for a uh a rookie
01:48meal
01:48you gotta let a couple of these rookies get a few paychecks first because those could be very costly
01:54um but uh you know when you're when you're on the road like this uh you get off to a
02:00good start
02:00like they did uh and and you know you're looking at anaheim next and then la two gettable games so
02:08um and and just saying you know a really good start for them i think things could be better in
02:14certain
02:14areas where i think you look at puck management uh especially at the beginning of the games uh and
02:21and other than the rangers and the uh flyers game uh early in games i think your puck management has
02:28to be better and they're you know i mean they're they're lucky they're fortunate to have uh one of
02:35the best goalies in the league and and sway that really uh keeps them in games early that's played
02:41awesome and dpatro did the same thing in minnesota so i'd like that part of their game to improve i
02:47think
02:47if they do that uh you know they they're they're just in danger of of getting off to slower starts
02:54if the goalie doesn't do his job and you don't want to be chasing games but you brought up rookie
03:00dinners what's the most expensive one you were a part of in in your career well i it wasn't i
03:10ended up
03:11having to pay uh for somebody in a rookie meal uh it's a long story but um who what was
03:19these meals
03:20these meals could go anywhere from 10 to 30 000 dollars yep for one meal oh yeah i think seymour's
03:28was like you know what and everybody's ordering louis the 15th of the most expensive wine the most
03:35expensive appetizers meal you name it uh they're they're ordering it so uh you gotta have somebody
03:44that uh that's in control a little bit maybe all depending on how many rookies uh you have but
03:51gotta say that you know the rookies are are in pretty good shape now in terms of uh entry level
03:58contracts are are decent um so they're in good shape and when you're a rookie you just hope that
04:03you're surrounded by two or three or four other guys well so spread the wealth we won't shame
04:09anybody but that individual as a rookie took you aside and said hey can i borrow a couple bucks
04:15can i borrow a couple bucks well i'll tell you the story real quick right and uh every team meal
04:22that
04:23we have there's always uh somebody gets shoe checked so you know in these meals post games pregame
04:30whatever there's always somebody that sneaks under the table and puts ketchup mustard or something
04:35really gross on your really nice shoe so we're uh we're in we're in anaheim one night and i'm the
04:41captain i'm in the i sit in the corner i got a little shelf behind me and i take my
04:46shoes off that are
04:47pretty new with tassels on them i put them on a shelf i'm not going to get shoe checked the
04:52veteran that i am
04:53next thing you know we order our food there's a lobster tail that comes out and my shoe and my
04:59tassels
05:00cut off and i'm i'm i'm fuming and i and i get up and i say i don't care who
05:06did this you are dead
05:08i'm going to find out adam oates is sitting next to me he says ray i'm on it he comes
05:12back he tells
05:13he tells me it's kyle mclaren and um and kyle's a rookie so kyle had this this nice leather jacket
05:20that he was wearing he gets up to the bathroom i grab his jacket i go into the kitchen i
05:25tell the
05:25chef cut the sleeves off now it becomes a vest i put it back on his chair he comes back
05:31he's all
05:32bull upset and all that i said i told you you messed around with the wrong guy it wasn't it
05:38wasn't kyle
05:39it was adam oh
05:45i felt i felt really bad so i i took care of kyle's uh part of it well you had
05:51to yeah not only did you
05:52have to pay for his thinner but you also had to buy him a new leather jacket uh you know
06:00she got
06:00me new shoes right this is all uh this is all the fun that happens on the road well on
06:09the road right
06:09now ducks tonight kings tomorrow night second of a back-to-back on the road how difficult are those
06:14back-to-back games you look at the first time on this road trip they won the first lost the
06:18second
06:19how do they survive the next 48 hours um i think you you know you go in and you win
06:28that first game
06:28they've had a couple of days off now so it's not like you know it's three and four so uh
06:34that's that's
06:35an advantage now it's just a back-to-back game and you you're good to go with those you know
06:41they uh
06:41they come through games uh healthy um you know they're they're in good shape now in terms of
06:47health wise you got charlie that's back that could eat up a lot of minutes and um so i i
06:54don't think
06:54it's uh it's a big deal at all if you were talking you know three and four nights then you
07:00know that
07:01that third game's a tough one but they've had a couple of days here uh where you know they're going
07:07in and you know is so i don't know and then they got dallas that's going to be uh they'll
07:13have a
07:14what a day in between that game so they'll be okay it's it shows you when back-to-back when
07:21the
07:21three and four is when those last two games are are kind of stuck together that could be an issue
07:27right when you look at pastor i know he hasn't scored a lot of goals but throughout his career
07:32he's only had four seasons where he's been under 30 goals last year being the closest one
07:37in a number of years but you see his role changing into more of a playmaker what's that
07:43like for a guy who has been known as a goal scorer pretty much his whole career now having to
07:49transition
07:50into being more of that playmaker for the team how do you think pasta handles that what's that
07:55uh transition like for a player well i think that's just another uh part of his game that is uh
08:04uh amazing uh how he sees the ice and how he could find guys is is uh is a bonus
08:12i i don't i don't want
08:15him um i just wanted him maybe to to be less of a playmaker i see him and and positions
08:23sometimes
08:24where i'm watching the game and i'm like you've got to take that shot i mean he's so deadly with
08:30his
08:30shot that sometimes he he passes it up and and looking for that that perfect pass to come across
08:37and and give his teammate a one-timer that's an open net and a lot of times you know that
08:43that puck
08:44may not get there and and with his talent and how he's able to score uh you just messed up
08:50on a uh an
08:52amazing scoring track so i'd like him to be a touch a little a little more selfish and uh at
08:58times
08:58but uh you can't deny uh how good of a passer and playmaker that he is and you know he
09:05uh yeah
09:06he's dropped off in certain goals but uh i i i still see him as a 40 goal scorer if
09:13not more
09:14ray wiggy always says we are blessed to have you on this show so thank you for taking the time
09:20as
09:20always you did get uh that game the other night espn tresca got a little uh shout out i don't
09:26know if
09:27you heard that or not they are very kind uh to us yes i did hear that uh booch every
09:35time he's in
09:35town last time he was town he was with uh ray ferrero and um and sean mcdonough they were all
09:42at
09:42trusca having they didn't have the chicken parm this time they had the bill parm but uh booch left
09:48booch left with uh our uh our saw our trusca sauce that he uh he brings home and and when
09:56he makes his
09:56own chicken parm he uses our sauce that uh is amazing so um yeah right thanks uh thanks for
10:04bringing that up uh hell man appreciate that well ray they always bust my balls here because i always
10:09say take us behind the helmet i'm gonna ask you because you were a playmaker in the end you say
10:15take us into the kitchen no i was gonna i was gonna say i'm gonna say hey take us under
10:18the sauce no
10:19no you're a playmaker when you played it and it's and it's an interesting thing and you kind of
10:23talked about you want him to shoot more take us on the ice as a playmaker why he doesn't shoot
10:30in
10:30situations what makes him go all right i have a shot here but i'm looking to create because that's
10:36something that you did what what's getting into his mind where he's not taking the shot he's trying
10:41to be more of a creator um i i got a lot of assists and and all that kind of
10:49stuff but uh i always kind
10:51almost led the league in shots on goal every year and i think um as as good as a playmaker
10:59he he is i
11:01think he still has to has to come out of games with you know six to eight to ten shot
11:11attempts
11:12even though he's going to still be trying to make some great passes and great plays i think both both
11:19things are there for him um and i think you know if you look at if you break down the
11:24uh the stats i
11:26think you still see him with shot attempts that are probably six to eight to ten some games and uh
11:32i
11:32don't want that to uh stop i want to see him coming out of every game with you know four
11:38shots on net
11:39five shots on net six shots on net uh still uh able to uh uh go out and make some
11:47great plays and
11:48you know like their their special teams are you know they're they've scored a few timely goals but
11:54the power plays you know running at 6.7 and the pk is at 7.6 i think you're going
12:00to see those things
12:01increase and you know um he's going to on the power play that's where he gets a lot of his
12:07shots so i
12:08think that's only going to get better you're going to see him shooting more i think and scoring more
12:12goals than he did last year you might need to teach him the move ray uh he's got he's got
12:20moves to
12:21teach me he's believe me and and you hell man if you know what mine was a simple move yeah
12:27if you get
12:28on the ice with pasta and he and he shows you a couple of his moves i i guarantee you
12:35get hurt i just
12:38i just couldn't get it like uh i spent i don't know how long ray was teaching me the his
12:44move
12:45how long did how long did that take on the ice like 45 minutes i couldn't get the move down
12:51now just to get you on the ice right it takes 45 minutes yeah wow hey it was a little
12:56shaky out
12:57there it must have been hard with the milk carton
13:01all right uh ray as always have a great weekend we will talk to you again next week
13:07thanks guys you too have a great one all right
