00:00You know, Patrice Bergeron's number's going to be retired,
00:02and that'll be a great night.
00:03They really do a really good job with those evenings.
00:07But I was thinking, well, obviously, Brad Marchand is the next up, right?
00:10Like, he's going to end up getting his number retired
00:12when it's all said and done.
00:14And I said, is there anybody else that's on the horizon as well?
00:17And you mentioned David Krejci.
00:19Yeah, Krejci should be.
00:20See, I don't know if – see, David Krejci, it's a strange one
00:23because you're right, like, his numbers are absolutely insane.
00:27You know, I mean, he's a –
00:28Especially his playoff numbers.
00:29His playoff – yeah, I mean, elite.
00:31Elite in the playoffs.
00:32Fourth highest all-time Bruins history playoff numbers.
00:35But I'm going to say that there's a better chance of David Poster
00:39not having his number retired than David Krejci.
00:42David Poster, too.
00:43But Krejci won a title, and in the year they won the Cup,
00:46he led the team in points.
00:4723 points that year.
00:48Bergeron had 20, 12 goals to 6.
00:51I mean, you can't tell the story of the 2011 Bruins without David Krejci.
00:54Are you going to retire Tim Thomas' number?
00:57Yeah, I mean, that's not out of the question.
00:58Is it already retired?
01:00Did they already retire Tim Thomas?
01:01I don't think they did.
01:02I don't know.
01:03But, I mean, Tim Thomas, it's the best playoff performance I've ever seen.
01:06Yeah, I guess they have not.
01:08I know they brought him back a few times.
01:09I'd consider that.
01:11Man, retiring a number is a huge deal.
01:13Ted, you know that.
01:14I mean, it is –
01:16Should be.
01:17They shouldn't have let Ray Lewis wear 52, to be honest.
01:19Yeah, I'm right.
01:20Oh, no.
01:21Yeah, right.
01:24Celtics, they're more liberal with their retirement of their jersey.
01:26Even Cedric Maxwell sometimes says, I can't believe they retired my number.
01:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:30But Krejci's a weird one because, I mean, obviously I would lean towards doing it,
01:34but I think he's more of a long shot than you think.
01:37Matter of fact, you could even take a look at Tuka Rask's numbers
01:40and say that Tuka Rask has a better case of having his number retired.
01:44You're not going to win the sport on that.
01:45I love Tuka personally, but the region is down on him for collapses.
01:49Franchise leader in wins.
01:50Franchise leader in playoff wins.
01:52Franchise leader in save percentage.
01:54He's won a Vezina.
01:55He's been in the Stanley Cup twice, obviously.
01:57Well, actually, his name is on the Cup, technically, the year that they won.
02:02But, I mean, his numbers –
02:04If you're just going to go by pure numbers, it's insane.
02:07Now, Krejci's won a Cup, so that does make a little bit of a difference.
02:09But I honestly think that both of them are those you've got to say are 50-50.
02:15You know, I don't know if either one's a guarantee, but Martian's a shoe-in, right?
02:19Cam Neely was asked about Tim Thomas at one point here, looking at this article,
02:22and he said, I don't want to rule anything out,
02:23but you look at some of the guys up there,
02:25they have a bigger sample size of what they did throughout their career in Boston.
02:29So, talking about a longer shelf life than Tim Thomas had.
02:33But, God, he was so good.
02:34You're right.
02:34I mean, they should retire.
02:35I would put Thomas and Krejci up.
02:37I feel like Krejci will go on.
02:38I think most Bruins fans would say that he deserves to go win.
02:44I would think so.
02:45I just – I mean, I'm trying to think if there's anyone else I'm not thinking of.
02:49I mean, Pasta, if he continues to play here, like if he signs another extension,
02:53and he – I don't want – it doesn't have to be a Bruin for life,
02:55but maybe even like a Martian type of career, where near the end,
02:59there's some team that ends up needing him when the Bruins are awful,
03:01and he goes and wins a championship somewhere else.
03:03Who knows?
03:03But, I mean, right now, he's already one of the greatest goal scorers
03:08in Bruins history.
03:09I mean, multiple 40, 50-goal seasons.
03:12I mean, and right now, he's your cornerstone.
03:15So, I got to think –
03:16Doesn't wear the C, though.
03:17Doesn't wear the C, man.
03:18Krejci and Jalen Brown are actually very similar in terms of, like,
03:21borderline retired jersey status, because they're going to be seen as the two
03:25to the one star, you know, with Bergeron, Ed Krejci, and Tatum.
03:28But Jalen won MVP.
03:30Like, he won finals MVP.
03:33So, you think they will retire his jersey?
03:35Yes.
03:35Yeah, they are.
03:36They're going to have to.
03:36After the smear campaign that's going on, I don't know.
03:39People are – the region is turning on the guy.
03:41I mean, if Max gets in, you know.
03:43Right.
03:44Of all of them, they're basically just throwing out numbers.
03:46Now, I'll tell you who there's a good discussion about, and that's Ray Allen.
03:50Like, I mean, Ray Allen, I think, is somebody you've got to consider retiring
03:53his number.
03:54Like, if you're going willy-nilly and just, like, throwing them all up there,
03:56you've got to put Ray Allen's up there.
03:58But when you choose to leave and go to the –
04:00He didn't choose.
04:02Well, okay, he did.
04:03He did.
04:03But he was –
04:04But he got effed.
04:05But you're right.
04:05Before he did, he got massively effed.
04:07He did choose, but thank you.
04:09But they wanted to trade him the year before.
04:11Yeah, they traded him.
04:12They literally went to him and told him he had been traded.
04:16And remember, there was something that happened, like a snag.
04:18Was it Rudy Gay?
04:19I forget which player it was.
04:21Or the physical?
04:22Oh, gosh.
04:23Yeah, there was something wrong with the physical.
04:25And Danny Ainge told us the story.
04:27Danny Ainge said, I actually went and we told him that he had been traded.
04:30And then hours later, they had to call him back and go,
04:34hey, about that trade?
04:35So if you're him, you're pretty BS anyway.
04:37Now, I hated him for a while, and I used to love –
04:40He used to be one of my favorite players.
04:41But I hated him when he left because he left for a rivals team.
04:45He went to the Heat for less money than the Celtics are willing to offer him.
04:48But then we learned all the details later on.
04:51I don't blame him on a bit.
04:52I don't either.
04:53I'd be like, F you guys.
04:54F you.
04:54You're going to do that to me?
04:55I'm gone.
04:56And LeBron has another ring because of Ray Allen, which really kills even more.
05:02That series – do you remember that shot he made against the Spurs for them to –
05:05I think it was game six to move it to a game seven.
05:07He'd end up winning it in the finals.
05:09Oh.
05:09Ray Allen was the man.
05:11But do you think they will retire his Celtics jersey?
05:13If they haven't done it by now, they're not going to.
05:15If they haven't done it by now, they're not going to.
05:18I mean, they already had the moments with Pierce and Garnett.
05:20If that was the time to do it, they're not going to do it now.
05:23At least they're talking now for a while.
05:25I mean, they hated each other.
05:26By the way, your guy Doc's going into the Basketball Hall of Fame
05:29and being inducted by KG and Pierce.
05:32I mean, they're out there to support him.
05:34He blew the most enormous leads in the playoffs.
05:37That's kind of cool, though, that Pierce and Garnett would show up in Springfield for that.
05:40That is cool.
05:41Listen, as a person, I think Doc Rivers is the best.
05:44As a coach, looking back on it, we now know that he was not the leader we all thought he
05:48was.
05:48He's a Hall of Famer.
05:49It was Kevin Garnett.
05:50Kevin Garnett was the leader.
05:51He was in Butu.
05:52He was the guy who made that all work.
