00:04The words of the prophet Joel, chapter 2, verse 13.
00:11Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God.
00:18For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repented him of the evil.
00:31Dearly beloved brethren, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness.
00:42But that we should not disassemble, nor clave them before the face of Almighty God our Heavenly Father.
00:51But confess them, with a humble, lowly, penitent, and obedient heart, to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of
01:02the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:07And although we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our sins before God, yet ought we chiefly so to
01:15do,
01:16when we assemble and meet together, to render thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:23To set forth his most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are
01:32requisite and necessary, as well for the body as the soul.
01:39Wherefore I pray and beseech you, as many as are here present, to accompany me with a pure heart and
01:47humble voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, saying after me.
01:55Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.
02:04We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:11We have offended against thy holy laws.
02:16We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things we ought
02:23not to have done, and there is no health in us.
02:29But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders.
02:35Spare thou them, O God, who confess their faults, or restore thou those who are penitent.
02:42Spare thou them, O God, according to thy promises declared unto mankind, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
02:49And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life.
02:59To the glory of thy holy name. Amen.
03:06Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who desireth not the death of a sinner,
03:13but rather that he turn from his wickedness and live,
03:17and has given power and commandment to his ministers to declare and pronounce to his people,
03:25being penitent, the absolution and remission of their sins,
03:32he pardoneth and absolveth all who truly repent, and unfaimly believe his holy gospel.
03:42Wherefore, let us beseech him to grant us true repentance, and his Holy Spirit,
03:49that those things may please him which we do at this present,
03:53and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy,
03:58so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy,
04:03through Jesus Christ our Lord.
04:08Amen.
04:12Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
04:16Thy kingdom come.
04:18Thy will be done as it is in heaven.
04:22Give us this day our daily bread,
04:25and forgive us our trespasses,
04:28as we forgive them that trespass against us.
04:31And lead us not into temptation,
04:33but deliver us from evil,
04:36for thine is the kingdom,
04:38the power and the glory,
04:40for ever and ever.
04:42Amen.
04:46O Lord, open our lips,
04:49and our mouth shall show forth thy praise.
04:55O God, make speed to save us.
04:59O Lord, make haste to help us.
05:05Glory be to the Father,
05:06and to the Son,
05:07and to the Holy Ghost,
05:09as it was in the beginning,
05:11is now, and ever shall be,
05:14world without end.
05:16Amen.
05:20Praise ye the Lord.
05:22The Lord's name be praised.
05:27O come, let us sing unto the Lord,
05:30and let us heartily rejoice
05:32in the strength of our salvation.
05:36Let us come before his presence
05:38with thanksgiving,
05:40and show ourselves glad in him with psalms.
05:44For the Lord is a great God,
05:46and a great King above all gods.
05:50In his hand are all the corners of the earth,
05:52and the strength of the hills is his also.
05:57The sea is his,
05:58and he made it,
05:59and his hands prepared the dry land.
06:03O come, let us worship and hold home,
06:06and kneel before the Lord,
06:08our Maker.
06:10For he is the Lord,
06:12our God,
06:13and we are the people of his pasture,
06:15and the sheep of his hand.
06:19Today,
06:20if you will hear his voice,
06:22harden not your hearts,
06:23as in the provocation,
06:25and as in the day of temptation,
06:28in the wilderness,
06:30when our fathers tempted us,
06:33proved us,
06:33and saw our works.
06:37Forty years long,
06:38I was grieved with this generation,
06:40and said,
06:41it is a people
06:41that do err in their hearts,
06:44and they have not known my ways.
06:48Unto whom I swore in my wrath,
06:50that they should not enter into my rest.
06:55Glory be to the Father,
06:57and to the Son,
06:57and to the Holy Ghost,
06:59as it was in the beginning,
07:01is now,
07:02and ever shall be,
07:04world without end.
07:06Amen.
07:14Psalm 102
07:18Hear my prayer, O Lord,
07:20and let my crying come unto thee.
07:23Hide not thy face from me
07:25in the time of my trouble.
07:28Incline thine ear unto me when I call.
07:31O hear me,
07:32and that right soon.
07:34For my days are consumed away like smoke,
07:37and my bones are burnt up,
07:39as if it were a firebrand.
07:42My heart is smitten down,
07:45and withered like grass,
07:47so that I forget to eat my bread.
07:50For the voice of my groaning,
07:53my bones will scarce cleave to my flesh.
07:57I am become like a pelican in the wilderness,
08:01and like an owl that is in the desert.
08:04I have watched,
08:05and am even as it were a sparrow
08:08that sitteth alone on the housetop.
08:11Mine enemies revile me all day long,
08:15and they that are mad upon me
08:16are swarmed together against me.
08:19I have eaten ashes as it were bread,
08:22and mingled my drink with wheating.
08:25And that's because of thine indignation and rot,
08:28for thou hast taken me up and cast me down.
08:33My days are gone like a shadow,
08:35and I am withered like grass.
08:38But thou, O Lord, shalt endure for ever,
08:42and thy remembrance throughout all generations.
08:46Thou shalt arise and mercy upon Zion,
08:49for it is time that you have mercy upon her.
08:53Yea, the time is come.
08:55And why?
08:57Thy servants think upon her stones,
09:00and it pitieth them to see her in the dust.
09:03The heathen shall fear thy name, O Lord,
09:06and all the kings of the earth thy majesty.
09:10When the Lord shall build up Zion,
09:12and when his glory shall appear,
09:15when he turneth him into the prayer of the destitute,
09:19and despiseth not their desire,
09:22this shall be written for those that come after,
09:26and the people which shall be formed
09:28shall praise the Lord.
09:30For he hath looked down from his sanctuary,
09:33out of the heaven did the Lord behold the earth,
09:38that he might hear the mornings of such as are in captivity,
09:42and deliver the children appointed unto death,
09:46that they may declare the name of the Lord in Zion,
09:50and his worship in Jerusalem.
09:52when the people are gathered together,
09:55and the kingdoms also conserve the Lord.
09:58He brought down my strength in my journey,
10:01and shortened my days.
10:03But I said,
10:05O my God,
10:06take me not away in the midst of thine anger,
10:09for as thy years they endure throughout all generations.
10:15Thou, Lord,
10:16in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth,
10:19and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
10:23They shall perish,
10:24but thou shalt endure.
10:27They shall wax old as dotted garment,
10:31and as a vesture shalt thou change them,
10:34and they shall be changed.
10:36But thou art the same,
10:38and thy years shall not fail.
10:42The children of thy servants shall continue,
10:45and their seed shall stand fast in thy sight.
10:50Glory be to the Father,
10:52and to the Son,
10:53and to the Holy Ghost,
10:55as it was in the beginning,
10:57is now,
10:57and ever shall be,
10:59world without end.
11:01Amen.
11:05Psalm 103
11:09Praise the Lord, O my soul,
11:11and all that is within me,
11:13praise his holy name.
11:16Praise the Lord, O my soul,
11:19and forget not all his benefits.
11:23Who forgiveth all thy sin,
11:25and healeth all thine infirmities?
11:27Who saveth thy life from destruction,
11:30and crowneth thee with mercy and loving kindness?
11:34Who satisfied thy mouth with good things,
11:37making thee young and lusty as an eagle?
11:41The Lord executed righteousness and judgment
11:45for all them that are opposed with wrong.
11:49He showed his way unto Moses,
11:51his works unto the children of Israel.
11:55The Lord is full of compassion and mercy,
11:59long-suffering and of great goodness.
12:02He will not always be chiding,
12:04neither keepeth he his anger for ever.
12:08He hath not dealt with us after our sins,
12:11nor rewarded us according to our wickedness.
12:15For look how high the heaven is in comparison of the earth,
12:19so great is his mercy also toward them that fear him.
12:24Look how wide also the east is from the west,
12:28so far hath he set our sins from us.
12:32Yea, like as a father pitieth his own children,
12:36even so is the Lord merciful unto them that fear him.
12:41For he knoweth whereof we are made,
12:44he remembereth that we are but just.
12:48The days of man are but as grass,
12:52for he flourisheth as a flower of the field.
12:56For as soon as the wind goeth over it,
12:58it is gone,
12:59and the place thereof shall know it no more.
13:03But the goodness,
13:04the merciful goodness of the Lord,
13:06endureth for ever and ever
13:08upon them that fear him,
13:10and his righteousness upon his children's children.
13:15Even upon such as keep his covenant,
13:18and think upon his commandments,
13:20do to do them.
13:23The Lord hath prepared his seat in heaven,
13:26and his kingdom ruleth over all.
13:30O praise the Lord, ye angels of his,
13:33ye that excel in strength,
13:35ye that fulfill his commandment,
13:38and hearken unto the voice of his words.
13:41O praise the Lord, all ye his hosts,
13:45ye servants of his that do his pleasure.
13:48O speak good of the Lord,
13:50all ye works of his,
13:52in all places of his dominion.
13:55Praise thou the Lord, O my soul.
13:59Glory be to the Father,
14:01and to the Son,
14:03and to the Holy Ghost.
14:05As it was in the beginning,
14:07is now, and ever shall be,
14:09world without end.
14:12Amen.
14:15The prophet Zechariah, chapter 5.
14:20Again I lifted up my eyes,
14:23and saw, behold, a flying scroll.
14:27He said to me,
14:28what do you see?
14:30I answered,
14:31I see a flying scroll,
14:33its length is 20 cubits,
14:35and its width 10 cubits.
14:38Then he said to me,
14:39this is the curse that goes out over the surface of the whole land.
14:44For everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on the one side,
14:49and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off according to it on the other side.
14:56I will cause it to go out,
14:58says Yahweh of Amis,
14:59and it will enter into the house of the thief,
15:02and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name,
15:06and it will remain in the middle of his house,
15:09and destroy it with its timber and its stones.
15:15Then the angel who talked with me,
15:18came and said to me,
15:20lift up your eyes,
15:22and see what is this that is appearing.
15:26I said,
15:27what is it?
15:28He said,
15:29this is the ephah basket that is appearing.
15:33This is their appearance in all the land,
15:36and behold,
15:37a talent of lead was lifted up,
15:40and this is a woman sitting in the middle of the ephah basket.
15:45He said,
15:46this is wickedness,
15:47and he threw her down in the middle of the ephah basket,
15:51and he threw the weight of lead in its mouth.
15:56And I lifted up my eyes and saw,
15:58behold,
15:59there were two women,
16:00and the wind was in their wings,
16:03and they had wings like the wings of a stalk,
16:05and they lifted up the ephah,
16:09and they lifted up the ephah,
16:10and they lifted up the ephah,
16:10back between the earth and the sky.
16:14And I said to the angel who talked to me,
16:17where are they carrying the ephah basket?
16:21He said to build her a house in the land of Shinar.
16:26When it is prepared,
16:27she will be set there in her own place.
16:33This is the word of the Lord.
16:36Thanks be to God.
16:42We praise thee, O God.
16:44We acknowledge thee to be the Lord.
16:47All the earth does worship thee,
16:50the Father everlasting.
16:53To thee all angels cry aloud,
16:56the heavens and all the powers therein.
16:59To thee, cherubim and seraphim,
17:03continually do cry,
17:05Holy, Holy, Holy,
17:07Lord God of Sabael,
17:09heaven and earth are full
17:11of the majesty of thy glory.
17:15The glorious company of the apostles,
17:18praise thee.
17:20The goodly fellowship of the prophets,
17:23praise thee.
17:24The noble army of martyrs,
17:27praise thee.
17:27The holy church throughout all the world
17:31does acknowledge thee.
17:33The Father of an infinite majesty,
17:36thine honourable true and only Son.
17:40Also the Holy Ghost,
17:42the Comforter.
17:44Thou art the King of glory,
17:46O Christ.
17:47Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father.
17:52When thou tookest upon thee to deliver man,
17:55thou didst not a bell,
17:56or the virgin's womb.
17:59For thou hast overcome the sharpness of death.
18:02Thou didst open the kingdom of heaven
18:05to all believers.
18:08Thou sittest at the right hand of God
18:11in the glory of the Father.
18:13We believe that thou shalt come
18:16to be our judge.
18:18We therefore pray thee,
18:20help thy servants,
18:22whom thou hast redeemed with thy precious blood.
18:25Make them to be numbered with thy sights,
18:28in glory everlasting.
18:32O Lord,
18:33save thy people and bless thine heritage.
18:36Govern them and lift them up for ever.
18:40Day by day we magnify thee,
18:43and we worship thy name,
18:46ever world without end.
18:49vouchsafe, O Lord,
18:50to keep us this day without sin.
18:53Lord,
18:54have mercy upon us,
18:56have mercy upon us.
18:58Lord,
18:59let thy mercy lighten upon us,
19:01as our trust is in thee.
19:05O Lord,
19:05in thee have I trusted,
19:07let me never be confounded.
19:11Glory be to the Father,
19:13and to the Son,
19:13and to the Holy Spirit,
19:15as it was in the beginning,
19:17is now and ever shall be,
19:20world without end.
19:22Amen.
19:27The First Epistle to the Thessalonians,
19:30Chapter 5
19:33But about the times and their order,
19:36my brothers,
19:37there is no need for me
19:38to say anything to you.
19:40For you yourselves
19:41have the knowledge
19:42that the day of the Lord
19:43will come like a thief
19:44in the night.
19:46When they say,
19:48there is peace and no danger,
19:49then sudden destruction
19:51will come upon them
19:52as birth pains
19:53on a woman with child.
19:55They will not be able
19:57to get away from it.
19:59But you, my brothers,
20:00are not in the dark
20:02for that day
20:03to overtake you like a thief.
20:05For you are all
20:07sons of the light
20:08and of the day.
20:09We are not
20:10of the night
20:11nor of the dark.
20:14So then,
20:15let us not take our rest
20:16as others do,
20:17but let us be
20:18self-controlled
20:19and awake.
20:21For those who are sleeping
20:22do so in the night,
20:24and those who are worse
20:26and those who are worse
20:26for drink
20:26are so in the night.
20:29But let us,
20:30who are of the day,
20:31be serious,
20:32putting on the breastplate
20:34of faith and love
20:35and on our heads
20:36the hope of salvation.
20:39For God's purpose for us
20:41is not wrath,
20:42but salvation
20:43through our Lord Jesus Christ,
20:45who was put to death
20:46for us
20:47so that awake or sleeping
20:49we may have a part
20:50in his life.
20:52So go on
20:53comforting
20:54and building up
20:55one another
20:56as you have been doing.
20:59And we ask you,
21:01brothers and sisters,
21:02to acknowledge these
21:03who labour among you
21:05and preside over you
21:06in the Lord
21:07and to admonish you
21:09and esteem them
21:10most highly in love
21:11because of their work.
21:13Be at peace
21:15among yourselves.
21:16We urge you,
21:18brothers and sisters,
21:19admonish the undisciplined,
21:20comfort the discouraged,
21:22help the weak
21:23and be patient
21:24with everyone.
21:25See that no one
21:27pays back evil
21:28for evil
21:29to anyone,
21:31but always pursue
21:32what is good
21:33for one another
21:33and for everyone.
21:36Rejoice constantly.
21:38Pray always
21:39in everything.
21:40Give thanks.
21:43for this is
21:44God's will for you
21:45in Christ Jesus.
21:47Do not extinguish
21:49the spirit.
21:50Do not treat
21:51prophecies with contempt,
21:53but examine
21:54all things.
21:55Hold fast
21:56to what is good
21:57and stay away
21:58from every form
21:59of evil.
22:02May the God
22:03of peace himself
22:04make you
22:04completely holy
22:05and may your spirit
22:07and soul
22:07and body
22:08be kept entirely
22:10blameless
22:10at the coming
22:11of our Lord
22:12Jesus Christ.
22:13He who calls you
22:15is trustworthy
22:16and he will
22:17in fact
22:17do this.
22:19Brothers and sisters,
22:21pray for us too.
22:22Greet all the brothers
22:24and sisters
22:24with a holy kiss.
22:27I call on you
22:28solemnly
22:29in the Lord
22:30to have this letter
22:31read to all
22:32the brothers
22:32and sisters.
22:34The grace
22:35of our Lord Jesus
22:36Jesus Christ
22:37be with you.
22:39This is the word
22:41of the Lord.
22:43Thanks be to God.
22:52Blessed be the Lord
22:54God of Israel
22:55for he hath visited
22:57and redeemed
22:58his people
22:59and hath raised up
23:01a mighty salvation
23:02for us
23:02in the house
23:04of his servant
23:04David.
23:06As he spake
23:07by the mouth
23:08of his holy prophets
23:09which have
23:10been since
23:11the world
23:12began
23:12that we
23:13should be saved
23:14from our enemies
23:15and from the hand
23:17of all
23:17that hate us
23:18to perform
23:20the mercy
23:21promised
23:21to our forefathers
23:23and to remember
23:24his holy covenant
23:26to perform
23:27the oath
23:28which he swore
23:29to our forefather
23:30Abraham
23:30that he would
23:32give us
23:32that would be
23:33delivered
23:34out of the hand
23:35of our enemies
23:36might serve him
23:37without fear
23:38in holiness
23:40and righteousness
23:41before him
23:42all the days
23:44of our life.
23:46And thou child
23:47shall be called
23:48the prophet
23:48of the highest
23:49for thou shalt
23:50go before
