00:00much drama in my life around ice cream that coming up around 9 28 from what i'm told
00:07there was a not there was nearly fights there was nearly fist thrown in this studio between
00:14two of the young guns in here i don't know how owen would have responded john and anthony
00:20nearly came to blows over ice cream who'd win in a fight by the way you know what anthony
00:27would win yeah but i was gonna say no faith in me but john grew up i didn't say you'd
00:33just go get
00:33smashed on a blue collar christmas tree yeah i didn't i didn't say it wouldn't be a good fight
00:38i just said i think anthony would win let's bring in nathan's girl he's won many fights
00:41he joins us on the wise heart right we make it right call car right hotline hello nathan
00:46good morning mon frere it is true i am one and oh against jeff jarrett so i do have that
00:51going for
00:52me you are right and you ruined a perfectly good guitar while you were doing it too
00:57um nathan we're feeling good right now in this city uh guardians are back in their albs series
01:03and the browns are three and one uh i got into a big fight yesterday with another host here well
01:08you go on the morning you go on the afternoon show on mondays and like he said the word playoffs
01:14sets unfair expectations i'm like well no i i think that they're trying to win you know every week
01:19they're just trying to go one and oh but hey we're three and one we start off four and one
01:24what's
01:24the point of doing that that said like yeah there's plenty of reasons why this is just a a
01:30budding team starting off i like yeah there might be some manic mondays in here but i don't think i'm
01:35going to lose my mind if they win seven or eight games at the end of the season and say
01:39that this
01:40season hasn't been a giant step forward i can't do it no i hear you i i think listen this
01:47team is a
01:47three and one it has put themselves in a position but to make the playoffs you need to win three
01:53games
01:53you know two more times at least to get to nine wins and two plus right to get to 10
01:5811 to make
01:59the playoffs so we're at best you know 30 i would say on our playoff journey if that is to
02:07be the case
02:08so the way that i look at it is this is a very good young football team that has not
02:13even come close
02:14to playing its best football it has not come close to playing 60 minutes on offense in a single game
02:19yet this year and so they have also committed too many penalties there's still been too much
02:23browns hurting browns and yet this team has found a way to win there's a closeness about this team
02:29there is a belief in this team that if we're there in the fourth quarter we're going to get it
02:35done
02:35the sean watson's led three straight game uh game winning drives that's the first time that's
02:39happened since 1979 when brian site did it this defense has gotten three straight stops the
02:43special teams unit and andre schmidt clory bohork is their clutch when they need to be and you got
02:48to include of course base rex sunahara in there as well as the trigger man on those snaps but love
02:52rex this team still hasn't played its best football and so that to me is the reason to be optimistic
02:59now this is a game when i look at on schedule i've heard people talk oh it's a trap trap
03:04game
03:04this team's won three games we've won eight games the two years prior there are no trap games this team
03:09has to go out and go to new york and handle their business and i think that they are a
03:14better football
03:14team than the new york jets now they are underdogs in this game now they've been underdogs three weeks
03:19in a row and one and no problem there but they need to go handle their business this is a
03:24jets team
03:24that was on the field so much defensively against the chicago bears last week who ran for 232 yards
03:31ran i believe 93 offensive plays against them that they didn't even practice on wednesday they had a
03:37walkthrough on wednesday because their guys were too beat up from that game so this is an opportunity
03:42i think for the browns to capitalize on the team that is coming off of a game in which the
03:47other team
03:47possess the football for nearly 43 minutes and and go handle your business now if you want to be a
03:54playoff team if you want to be a team of consequence this is the type of game that you need
03:58to go win
03:59nathan zagura joined us on the hotline so obviously the the big story you talked about the comfort
04:06behind wins the clutch gene that we didn't know deshaun watson had at this stage of his career
04:11my question is this we spent so much time talking about the ceiling in that quarterback competition
04:17between the guys in the room but can deshaun watson play even better than he's played so far
04:25i mean i think what i like is that we're seeing the answer is yes and he's playing very well
04:30he's
04:30completing about 70 percent of his passes quarterback rating of 102 eighth best in the nfl he's the best in
04:36the fourth quarter in the league right now but yeah i think that we've seen glimpses of it so far
04:40where deshaun watson has shown you on those three drives for example in the second quarter where the
04:45browns go three straight scoring drives against the pittsburgh sealers the second half where he's 17 of 21 for
04:50193 yards and two touchdowns down in tampa we're seeing glimpses we haven't seen 60 minutes and it's
04:57not just deshaun watson it's the whole offense right and there's a period in each game where we've had
05:02these lulls but if we can eliminate those lulls we can score 30 points and i think with this defense
05:08if
05:08you start putting in the mid high 20s and into the 30s we're gonna win a heck of a lot
05:12of football
05:13games doing that so yes he can play better but he's making plays with his arm he's making plays with
05:18his legs he is doing a fantastic job and he's doing it the most important time in the game right
05:23now denzel boston casey concepcion what is the next step in their process i mean more of the same and
05:32i
05:32love the way that they use casey concepcion against the sealers i think he's got opportunity to get
05:37vertical as well we've seen that on tape the browns just haven't either been able to get the protection
05:41to hold up to get him the football or or the ball's gone somewhere else now as for denzel boston
05:47denzel boston now is over 280 yards he's averaging over 20 yards a cat it's only two people in nfl
05:52history that have done that in their first four games one is justin jefferson the other martavis
05:57bryant martavis bryant was a very talented player who his career didn't pan out to be maybe what people
06:02thought it might be but browns fans certainly remember martavis bryant hanging some big games
06:06on the cleveland browns as a young member of the sealers so he is doing it all you want him
06:11to get
06:11vertical he can do that you want him to make the tough catches in the three by ones on third
06:15and five
06:15he can do that you like the yak after the catch he can do that denzel boston is looking like
06:20a a
06:21legit superstar and the coolest thing about both of those guys is if you go watch the jaleel mclaughlin
06:26touchdown from last week casey concepcion blocks patrick queen not once not twice but three times
06:32denzel boston carries asante samuel into the end zone from the five yard line so we can celebrate with the
06:38team and also got a shout out malachi corley who completely neutralized jalen ramsey so these guys are
06:43team guys they're willing to block they're willing to do everything they can and then also they're
06:48very very talented wide receivers which is always a good thing to help the cleveland browns score the
06:52football you know they were able to take more deep shots in that pittsburgh game and that was kind of
06:58startling considering how much of their offense was inhabited around five yards away from the line of
07:05scrimmage so does that show that there's not only a trust in obviously deshaun slinging it deep but in
07:11the offensive line in the receivers and their separation that todd munkin is hoping this offense
07:16can continue to evolve oh yeah the offensive line i thought had overall its best game of course the
07:23one that you know if you didn't watch the game shows up as an interception for deshaun watson denzel
07:27boston had run by the defender watson i'm sorry yeah and deshaun watson had been throwing the deep ball
07:32very well in that game unfortunately he gets it gets tipped no that was i'm sorry nathan robert may
07:38said it was a horrendous throw uh he he thought that the entire game deshaun watson was just getting
07:45lucky because of his teammates he's gonna drive here and fight you there's gonna be two fights he's
07:49blocked us so he'll never know this existed because he's blocked half of the cleveland media
07:53and their fans that's sad i would respectfully disagree with him and i would ask him to watch
07:58the throw that deshaun watson makes to jerry judy the first throw of the of the game winning drive
08:03that is a 17 yard absolute rip that he threw with no hesitation complete confidence into a window
08:10that was the size of a football and had he missed that window it would have been picked that would
08:15have been the end of the game for the cleveland browns that throw was big time and also shout
08:19out to jerry judy who had not been you know as involved certainly as he would want to be and
08:23that's
08:24tough being a receiver has been a pro bowler and he got these young guys getting all the footballs and
08:28getting all the attention but to make that catch and then another one on that final drive in that
08:32circumstance i thought was was awesome and deshaun had told me he said look i'm going to need you
08:37told him during the week i'm going to need you i don't know when but when they did need jerry
08:41judy
08:41he delivered on that final drive and and so did deshaun watson because that was one heck of a throw
08:46nathan zaguro joining us here on the wise heart right we make it right call kyle right hotline let's
08:51take a look around the league what why why has marvin harrison jr just been a non-issue non-factor
08:58for the arizona cardinals i think a lot of people in arizona would like to know that answer there
09:04have been kind of hints and again i'm not watching arizona cardinals tape i'm not watching every
09:09route that he's running all of those things but you hear some things out about that it's the details
09:15at this level it's one thing to be supreme athlete but it's the details and he's not necessarily a
09:20burner and so when you're not your details have to be so good in your route running and in your
09:25depths
09:25and sync with your quarterback and that there have been some times when maybe that has not
09:29necessarily been the case but listen he's a guy that we know how talented he is we've seen what
09:34he did certainly in college at ohio state and you know he's available he's somebody that i certainly
09:40wouldn't mind if if the reports are true that it would take you know a day three pick i mean
09:47why not
09:48take the gamble take a flyer on on a guy that you know has a talent you know has a
09:53pedigree and maybe it
09:55is a change of scenery maybe it's just too darn nice for him down there in scottsdale in arizona
09:59which is a lovely place to be they call paradise valley non-ironically at all maybe that's the
10:06issue who knows never been there you guys have been there both of you yeah you got to put that
10:12on your list mon frere we just end up going to disney get a nice hike up camelback yeah we
10:17just
10:17yeah right up camelback absolutely it's me and goofy and mickey mouse and that's how it ends up
10:24being i go phoenix the prices they're hiking the prices down there and you know what i don't care
10:30for it nathan don't like it um davis webb did you see that coming from a mile away that sean
10:37payton
10:38was going to take back over play call duty i mean i don't know why he did it in the
10:42first place
10:42sean payton is sean payton because he is one of the great play callers so i thought it was going
10:47to happen after week one or perhaps honestly in the middle of week one it doesn't surprise me i think
10:52that they felt that they had to do it because they thought that maybe they were going to lose
10:56davis webb in this coaching cycle and so that was kind of the carrot that they dangled but
11:00yeah it does not surprise me in the least bit that sean payton wants to call play that's what sean
11:05payton does yeah well because let me ask you this and this is the cool thing about your perspective
11:10you worked for the browns for a long time and we we've been a partner with the browns for a
11:14long
11:14time you know i i get to know a couple of them you get to really know a lot of
11:19them and we see
11:20these guys come through cleveland then leave cleveland and go on to things and sometimes
11:24they go on to great success sometimes not right davis webb using him as an example does this type
11:32of thing affect him for other jobs or do you really see like other nfl owners being like that that's
11:39a
11:39sean payton thing that's not an us thing or other head coaches if he were to be a play caller
11:43somewhere
11:43else going that's a sean payton thing that's not an us thing like could this have a negative effect
11:48on his career absolutely and i think that it makes you think to yourself if you're you know
11:56well what went wrong why weren't you able they bring in jalen waddle why weren't you able to get
12:01this going why wasn't bo nicks playing at the level that he was before so it's at least something
12:06that they are going to investigate and inquire about and it will be something that comes up in
12:11interviews yeah and a lot of times when you see situations like this you know take take ken dorsey
12:16here right ken dorsey gets let go by buffalo comes here you know calling plays then it's taken back
12:23and then he's not doing that at least to my knowledge in the nfl right now so i do think
12:29that those things in this case he was kind of a young guy but you wonder does he ever get
12:33the chance
12:34and it certainly is something that he is going to have to explain especially if this offense
12:40kind of takes off now and gets back to form with sean payton calling the place
12:46nathan zagura joining us here in the wise heart right we make it right coca right hotline go ahead
12:50tone nathan do you have a very early barely not even quarter of the season take on the super bowl
12:57and who the preeminent teams are this early well the cleveland browns obviously in the afc i mean we'd
13:06be remiss not to uh the chiefs look good patrick mahomes looks back kenneth walker has brought them
13:10the former super bowl mvp himself has brought certainly a dimension to that team that had been
13:15missing and so they look they look quite good the nfc's loaded i think the rams seahawks 49ers
13:20all look very legit to me brock purdy playing i think right now if you said quarter of the season
13:25probably the mvp uh with the way that he has performed but it's it's going to be interesting i think
13:30the afc still wide open the buffalo bills you feel like at some point it's got to be the buffalo
13:34bills right the baltimore ravens at some point with lamar jackson and with josh allen respectively
13:40those two teams they've got to find a way to be able to play for a super bowl but we'll
13:43see it's
13:44that's what's fun about this it does feel kind of wide open we're seeing a little bit of a narrowing
13:48i think of of who the teams do you really think have that opportunity this year but there are good
13:54football teams in both conferences and it's gonna be fun to see how the season plays out how much do
13:58you
13:58think a factor of the weather will be on sunday getting back to the browns real quick before we end
14:02with
14:04yeah hopefully not too much i think that listen if it does end up in kind of a rainy game
14:09which is
14:10what it's looking like you know the browns i think should be the better running team the jets
14:14have struggled against the run we saw last week exactly what the chicago bears did to them
14:18and so i like that i think that when it's like that it's going to come down the team that's
14:23the
14:23most physical i love the physicality that the browns have been showing on both sides of the ball and
14:27so i feel good about it hopefully it won't be too much of a factor but either way i think
14:32the
14:32browns are the better football team and they need to go out there and take care of their business
14:35the mon frere nathan zagura nathan we love you thank you for the time i'll talk to you sunday morning
14:40all right love you too mon frere have a good one and uh let's go browns nathan zagura browns radio
14:46and
