00:00I hope Todd's lying when he admitted this yesterday.
00:04I really, to be honest, haven't looked at it.
00:06To be honest, only from afar.
00:07People say, well, you had to look at it.
00:08Well, not really.
00:09I looked at it from afar when I was down the road, right,
00:13in crossover film or something.
00:15But I try to take everything at face value, what I see, right?
00:20It doesn't matter what the player is.
00:21I think we owe that to our players, guys that are on the roster.
00:25I want to go into it thinking every player we have is elite,
00:28and all they have to do is prove me right.
00:29But that's all they have to do.
00:31That's what I'm going to go into it.
00:32They're an NFL roster.
00:33I expect them to play well, and I just want them to prove me right.
00:37And so I really hadn't really looked at that.
00:39Different staff, different system.
00:41We'll let it play out.
00:42We'll see where it goes starting in a week from now.
00:47So is he talking about the game against the Bills,
00:51or is he talking all together?
00:53What's he saying?
00:55Because I read on social media, and then I was told it was the Bills game.
01:02Is this his tape all together?
01:04I'm serious.
01:05Is this his tape all together?
01:06Is he talking about the Kevin Stefanski tape?
01:09Is that what he's saying?
01:10Because we've had that conversation before where he had said he didn't really watch that tape.
01:14I know we've had that conversation before.
01:16What's interesting about it, I took it as just the way he's talking flatly.
01:21And I know, I'm sure there's some generalizing going here.
01:25I'm sure he watched some tape, but he said what he said.
01:28So given that, I always assume that when he applied for the job and got an interview,
01:33I assumed as part of the interview process, you give your applicants some homework,
01:38no matter what field they're going into.
01:41You ask them some general background about how do you feel about this company?
01:46What have you heard about this company?
01:47Well, in this case, you would ask somebody like Todd Munkin,
01:51hey, we're just going to give you some players.
01:53What did you think?
01:54Let's get an assessment.
01:56Let's get your legitimate evaluation on some things.
01:59And I imagine one of those things would have been Shador.
02:03Okay.
02:03Right?
02:04Maybe even Dylan Gabriel.
02:06They both put stuff on film last year.
02:08You'd love to get a new offensive-minded head coach.
02:10But knowing that Deshaun Watson was still under contract and that even though the team seemed
02:18to have given up on Deshaun Watson, the ceiling for Watson, if we could all go back with our
02:26DeLoreans back in time, like we've seen him put top five quarterback stuff on tape, is there
02:31anything you can harness here from what you saw with the Browns?
02:34And I think that's pretty standard application stuff and Zoom interview stuff before you
02:41even get a chance to meet with somebody.
02:43So I assumed he had watched tape on Deshaun Watson with the Browns.
02:46So he's saying he doesn't really watch Deshaun Watson tape from before?
02:50Is what he's saying?
02:51Because when he says different staff, I'm going, well, wait a minute.
02:54I thought I was led to believe that he didn't watch the Bills tape.
02:57That's not a different staff.
02:58That's your staff.
02:59That's you.
03:00You know, that's it.
03:01Because when I read that, I go, well, none of this makes sense.
03:05So now I'm confused, honestly.
03:06Play the clip again.
03:06Ken's very confused.
03:08Because now I'm going to have to go to the transcript, okay?
03:11Because I need to know exactly what this was in context to because when I'm reading about
03:17Bills and when I'm seeing, when I'm getting texts about Bills and then when he says what
03:21he says, I'm thinking we're going back to the way things were.
03:24So which one was it?
03:26Because I can't just go hammering the guy flying willy-nilly.
03:29Because if it were the Bills game, if he were just talking about the Saturday afternoon
03:34game, well, then that's crazy.
03:36You don't put him out there, have him play against third-teamers when you're playing as
03:41badly as you are, and then say you didn't watch the tape.
03:44Yeah, there's no way.
03:45And I didn't believe him because I know we had this conversation before when he said he
03:49didn't really watch his tape before.
03:50Because I go, there's not a chance in hell that you did not watch the tape before you
03:54went to take a job.
03:55Unless you're just in this to just get some money and you're willing to back out of it and
03:58that's it.
03:59Go ahead.
04:00So I went and I pulled the question.
04:02So it's hard to hear.
04:04I've tried to bump up the audio.
04:05We'll do this as best we can.
04:06This is the question that he was asked specifically about the explosive stuff that he's seen from
04:13Deshaun.
04:14Here's the full question.
04:15All right.
04:17Since Deshaun has been in Cleveland, his yards per attempt numbers and his ADOT numbers
04:21have been down.
04:22I don't know how much time you spent watching some of the old stuff, but why do you think,
04:26what would you pinpoint as to why his explosive stuff?
04:58He says, since Deshaun is in Cleveland, since Deshaun's been in Cleveland.
04:59That would have made some steam shoot out my ears because you can't send him out there
05:07and then not watch the tape.
05:08You can't send him out there and not see it.
05:09And I just don't believe Todd Munkin because you would have to look at tape and see what
05:15he's doing.
05:15I know that you would see it if you were looking at anything defensively.
05:21Of course, he's an offensive guy, but I just can't imagine he wouldn't have looked at him
05:26and then walked into the room and said that he thinks that he can work with him and do
05:31great things.
05:32There's no way.
05:34Honestly, in listening to Todd after the Buffalo game and everything he had said and all the
05:39other media opportunities after the Buffalo game, it really did sound like he kind of
05:43threw that away completely.
05:45It honestly sounded like we didn't have a game plan.
05:49Then why put him out there?
05:50I think that's obviously what we keep coming back to, but they ran the ball on first and
05:54second down in the first two series, put him in third and long, then those are incompletions,
05:58then those are punting, then that's booing.
06:00And so it sounded like that didn't even go into his assessment of the two quarterbacks.
06:05Remember, he's like, no, I put more stock into what we've done every single day than
06:09that game after an hour rain delay.
06:11And we talked about it.
06:12And again, that was my whole crux of it.
06:15Why are you sending him out there then if nothing of it matters?
06:18You could have sent somebody else out there and got something better out of it and saw
06:22what it is instead of destroying confidence with him, destroying confidence with the fan
06:27base, having him attack the fan base, because is he attacking the fan base if you held him
06:31out of that game that Saturday afternoon?
06:33No.
06:33Why would he?
06:34Right.
06:35Yeah.
06:35It ended up being a big disaster, especially considering, you know, 12 quarterbacks in
06:39the NFL didn't even play in the preseason.
06:41He didn't get booed until he took the field.
06:43If he didn't take the field, he wasn't going to get booed.
06:45If you had to have just played him, see, this is the thing, if he just would have called
06:48him the starting quarterback, which it seemed like everybody agrees, he probably had the
06:52edge and wanted to, although he was going to give Shador every chance to try to seize
06:56control of the job, and Shador kind of failed doing so.
06:58Had they have just played him in the Chicago game, he looked good.
07:01Remember, he looked great, but he looked good.
07:04So, we would have avoided this entire, so this was kind of a own goal by, you know, the
07:12Cavs and their organization to even throw him out there to begin with, because we would
07:17have been feeling a little, I'm not going to say a lot differently, but we would not have
07:21had the negative comments.
07:21We wouldn't have had the fan versus player versus fan stuff.
07:24You're talking about Browns and their own organization?
07:26Everybody.
07:26Yeah.
07:27Everybody involved that went into that decision-making.
07:29You said Cavs, though.
07:30Browns, yeah.
07:30Yeah.
07:31It's like a, I didn't know.
07:33But anyway, no, I, okay, so I was led to believe that this was about bills.
07:39Even if it's back, I mean, I'll have the same conversation over again, and I've continued
07:44to have it, is that I can't, there's no way that you would take a job without taking a
07:51look at what you have and what you think you're going to have.
07:55Like, I think that he knew going in, like, hey, I thought it was a prerequisite, going,
07:59the guy can't come off the books.
08:00He costs us too much for the future.
08:02You need to know going into this job that he is on this roster.
08:08Like, that's what I think was probably put to any person who put together anything with
08:14their agents to go and interview for this job.
08:16That's Sheilhaus, that's Jadinski, that's everybody there.
08:19And so he had to go into that knowing that.
08:21So how do you not watch tape on it?
08:23Because if you're Todd Munkin, don't you go into it and you say, well, yeah, I watch
08:27the tape, and there's things that I just didn't think that Kevin, you can't say this in a press
08:31conference, obviously, but you could look at it and go, ah, there's things Kevin's not
08:34doing with him that I think we could do with him.
08:36There's things that definitely I could see.
08:37There's observations during the game that when you're coaching in, of what you're seeing
08:41him do.
08:41I understand that you're getting ready for your next offensive series, but there's things
08:45that you're coaching that you can see you could do, go, I could do this with him.
08:48I could do that with him.
08:49Like, there's things that are there, and that's probably what he means from afar, or
08:55down the road.
08:56But when you're taking this job, and you have this guy, one, I bet he might be a little
09:01bit more surprised that he's even more broken than what he thought he was, because this
09:04guy's broken.
09:05I think that he, I think he plays with zero confidence.
09:08It looks like he hides while he's out there.
09:11Looks like he hides from the fans and the huddle, and so much he does.
09:15I mean, there's a lot of things that are broken.
09:16I'm not trying to, and this isn't, can be nasty on a Wednesday, I'm not trying to be
09:21nasty.
09:21I'm just telling you what we see.
09:23I see a guy playing the position that at once, at one time, was one of the most confident
09:30players you've ever seen, to now where he looks like he is trying to hide from everybody
09:37while he's playing quarterback, for crying out loud.
09:39It's a no confidence that he has, and I just don't believe Todd Munkin never looked at
09:46it on the tape.
09:46There's no way.
09:47There's no way.
09:48So why do you think he answered that way?
09:50Was he trying to avoid any conversations?
09:52I don't know.
09:53Any conversations?
09:53I'm sure there is.
09:55Like, you heard in the question, there was even ADOT thrown in there.
09:58It's so funny.
09:59Years ago, you'd never hear a coach mention ADOT, and now you imagine Todd Munkin's well-versed
10:05in all the stuff that we look at.
10:06You know, this is why I do.
10:08I try to not get so worked up about every single press conference that happens, because
10:16you don't win, people get mad at you, and then they go for your explanation, and if you
10:22explain it, and you over-explain it, boy, you're going to get killed for it.
10:26So I'm going to try to give him the benefit of the doubt, because we haven't played a football
10:32game yet, that I think he was just lying to everybody, which you are more than welcome
10:37to do as a head coach of an NFL football team.
10:39You don't need to sit there and tell the media the truth.
10:42I know that that's a strong accusation, but I'm not saying that he has the obligation to
10:47tell us the absolute truth.
10:49You can always get through it and say whatever you want to say, but I didn't look at the tape.
10:58You had to look at the tape.
11:01And if you didn't look at the tape, and you admitted you didn't look at the tape, then
11:04what do we hire you in for in the first place?
11:07Because, like, I still got, he's still got to play the position, and I still got these
11:11other things wrong, because I know that things have been really down about the Browns.
11:14I think they only have to be down this year.
11:16It just has to do with one position, why we're so upset.
