John and Chino examine how the creation of the modern nation of Israel in 1948 and the Six-Day War of 1967 became powerful evidence for end-times expectations in Pentecostal, charismatic, Latter Rain, William Branham, and Hobart Freeman circles. Chino revisits Freeman’s interpretation of Luke 21:24, the “times of the Gentiles,” the fig tree, and the generation expected to witness the Second Advent, while John traces similar ideas through restoration theology and early Pentecostal expectations.

They explore what happens when selected political and historical events are treated as certain fulfillment of biblical prophecy while other details are ignored or spiritualized. The discussion moves through Luke 21, Revelation 11, Daniel, Joel 2, failed expectations, recalculated timelines, and the doctrine that Christ could return at any moment, ending with a warning against building entire doctrines from partial interpretations—the theological equivalent of hearing “Blessed are the cheesemakers.”

00:00:31Hello, and welcome to another episode of the William Branham Historical Research Podcast.
00:00:35I'm your host, John Collins, the author and founder of William Branham Historical Research
00:00:40at william-branham.org, and with me I have my co-host, minister, and friend, Cheno Ross,
00:00:45pastor and the voice of the understanding scripture and truth by Cheno D. Ross YouTube
00:00:50channel.
00:00:51Cheno, I was having a conversation with Bob Scott yesterday, and we were talking about
00:00:56a subject unrelated to this, but we got deep into the midst of it, and I leaned close to
00:01:01the microphone and said, now I'm going to say something that's going to probably upset
00:01:05a lot of people, and then I went into that subject, and we got to talking about it, I
00:01:11don't know, maybe ten minutes later.
00:01:13I did it again, because to tell the history, you have to say things that really offend people,
00:01:18and it's a sad truth, but the history is offensive to those who don't understand the history.
00:01:23Well, that was Bob Scott, and I think there were three times that I did this.
00:01:27Well, I'm going to tell you right now, and I'll tell the listeners right now, this whole
00:01:30episode is going to offend a lot of people, because we're going to talk about Israel,
00:01:35and Israel is one of those subjects that you just don't talk about historically and talk
00:01:40about what actually is happening, and we're going to dive into some areas that not many
00:01:45people know of where some ideas came from, but needless to say, there will be people in
00:01:50the comment feeds who hate my guts.
00:01:53It won't be unusual or an anomaly, though, will it?
00:01:57No.
00:01:59So, you know, we did not get very far in what I wanted to talk about last week, John, with
00:02:06regard to Hobart Freeman's views on Israel in the last days.
00:02:09I was kind of setting it up, and there were just a lot of other things we were looking at,
00:02:15but there were two events that happened during Dr. Freeman's life while he was alive that
00:02:24happened with regard to Israel.
00:02:26One was Israel became a sovereign nation in May of 1948.
00:02:31Now, Hobart was not even a Christian at the time, so that probably didn't mean much to
00:02:36him.
00:02:36Then he did not come to Christianity until 1952, four years later.
00:02:41But I know in looking back on it, it was significant for him.
00:02:46What was most important was what happened in June of 1967.
00:02:54It was known as the Six-Day War when Israel got her capital city of Jerusalem back, because
00:03:01this happened literally just a year after Hobart had entered into the charismatic movement and
00:03:07experience.
00:03:08So, he's both a Christian and in the charismatic movement, and so to see these things happen
00:03:14in Israel were very, very significant for him.
00:03:19And there is one verse in particular that he honed in on.
00:03:24Of course, there are many passages that, in my estimation, do talk about a future restoration
00:03:31of Israel.
00:03:32So, it's not that I have any objection to that.
00:03:36And there's a large part of evangelical Christianity, not everyone, but a large part, who would be
00:03:44in agreement with some type of view of the restoration of the nation of Israel.
00:03:49You know, if anyone knows just a little bit of history, they know that Israel went into the
00:03:55Babylonian exile and captivity in 586 B.C.
00:04:00And there were successive world powers that were in control, more or less, of Palestine,
00:04:07you know, from then all the way down to a little brief period of Jewish independence under the
00:04:14Maccabean era during the middle of the 2nd century B.C.
00:04:19But we all know, by the time we open the New Testament, Rome is in control of the world.
00:04:24And so, Rome is in control of Israel.
00:04:26And there was a Jewish revolt that lasted for four years, from A.D. 66 to A.D. 70.
00:04:35Vespasian came in and attacked to put down the rebellion of the Jewish people.
00:04:41He ended up being the emperor and was called to Rome.
00:04:45And then his son, Titus, finished the defeat of the Jewish revolt and leveling of the city
00:04:52of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.
00:04:54And so, since that period, Israel has been in a dispersion.
00:04:59The Jewish people have been dispersed all around the world until the middle of the 20th
00:05:05century.
00:05:05So, we're talking about 2,000 years after the A.D. 70 time, 2,500 years after the Babylonian
00:05:14captivity.
00:05:14So, it does seem to be something fairly significant.
00:05:18A lot of people agree with that.
00:05:20But what was different with Dr. Freeman was his take on a particular verse in the Olivet Discourse
00:05:28in Luke's account of it, which was Luke 21 and verse 24.
00:05:34This is found in the middle of an eschatological section of Scripture where we're leading up
00:05:42to the Passion Week and the Crucifixion.
00:05:45And, you know, the Gospels, especially the Synoptics, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, are made
00:05:50up of a lot of stories about Jesus' time on earth, his miracles, his healings, and a lot
00:05:59of the sayings or discourses that he had.
00:06:02And there are long sections where he's teaching, like the Sermon on the Mount or the Parable of
00:06:08the Sower.
00:06:09And one of these last discourses has been entitled by biblical scholars the Olivet Discourse
00:06:17because he is on the Mount of Olives having just left the temple in Jerusalem.
00:06:22Jerusalem, he's looking back at the temple and the city, and he gives this great discussion
00:06:28of what's going to happen to Jerusalem and the temple.
00:06:32And you'll find it in Matthew 24 and in Mark 13, and Luke has his version in Luke 21.
00:06:40And so, you know, there are a lot of opinions and interpretations of how to understand this
00:06:46discourse, mostly with regard to which parts of his sayings have to do with the first century
00:06:54and which parts are still yet to be fulfilled, you know, post-first century.
00:06:59And so we come to this Luke 21, 24 verse, John, where what we read there is that Jerusalem
00:07:07will be compassed about with armies, the city is going to fall, the people will go into
00:07:14captivity, and they'll go into foreign nations of the world, which does seem to have been
00:07:19fulfilled in AD 70, you know, just what, 30, 35 years after Jesus said this.
00:07:26And then we have Luke 21, 24b, and Jerusalem will be trodden down of the Gentiles until the
00:07:36times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
00:07:39That's the key part of the verse that was key in Dr. Freeman's eschatology.
00:07:45So by virtue of the fact Jesus mentioned Gentiles, there is something about Jewish versus Gentiles.
00:07:51So you see, the city has been taken and ransacked.
00:07:55The people have been sent out into captivity.
00:07:58Another dispersion, not unlike the Babylonian one, except this went not just to Mesopotamia,
00:08:05but these people were predicted to go to the far ends of the earth in their dispersion
00:08:11until a certain time, until something happens, until the times of the Gentiles have been fulfilled.
00:08:21And so, obviously, if you look at this in light of what happened in the Six-Day War in June
00:08:28of 1967,
00:08:30what Hobart was arguing for is, look, that verse has been fulfilled.
00:08:35That Luke 21, 24, Jerusalem will be trodden down of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
00:08:46Well, the Jews have their city back.
00:08:49So now we can know that the times of the Gentiles had been fulfilled and know that we're living at
00:08:57the very end of time.
00:08:59So this is the way he read that verse.
00:09:02This is the way he understood that.
00:09:04As you read on in the few verses after that, you have this very famous reference to the fig tree
00:09:11where Jesus said, let me give you a parable.
00:09:14He said, when you see the fig tree beginning to bud and produce foliage on it,
00:09:21you know that summer is near.
00:09:24So when you see these things happen, then lift up your heads,
00:09:29your redemption draws nigh,
00:09:31and this generation will not pass away until all things have been fulfilled.
00:09:37John, when I first heard this in 1976,
00:09:42you know, I'm not that many years removed from the Six-Day War either.
00:09:46And I'm being told that Israel is the fig tree.
00:09:50And when you see Israel get her city back,
00:09:53then the generation living at that time would not die until the second advent.
00:10:00That's basically what he said,
00:10:03and that is definitely the way I interpret it.
00:10:06And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
00:10:08And I'm not, it wasn't just the people under Dr. Freeman's ministry.
00:10:12It was people under a whole lot of other ministers' ministries,
00:10:16all of whom were hearing somewhere in the 60s or 70s,
00:10:21or even up into the 80s,
00:10:23that we have been born during the time when we can be certain,
00:10:28not just kind of assume,
00:10:30but be certain that the second advent was going to happen.
00:10:33And you can imagine the effects that had on all of our lives.
00:10:37So let me tell you the parable of the cherry pie.
00:10:41A great prophet once said that he would bring his wife to Chen O'Ross' house,
00:10:47and they would have a great time together.
00:10:50And his wife would bring the most excellent cherry pie,
00:10:53and everybody would enjoy the cherry pie.
00:10:57The way the Christian church has been infected with this cancer,
00:11:02you, Chen O'Ross, could say that that prophecy is fulfilled
00:11:05because John and his wife came to my house.
00:11:08But the Chen O'Ross who wants the cherry pie would say,
00:11:11but wait a minute, I didn't get any cherry pie.
00:11:12What about that part of the prophecy?
00:11:16We have taken all of these scriptures,
00:11:18and I'm saying we collectively who have been plagued by this ministry,
00:11:24in such a way that we can apply it literally to any point in time.
00:11:29Because what they do is they say,
00:11:31look, these ten things were part of this prophecy,
00:11:34and I see two of them.
00:11:35Do you not see it, my brother?
00:11:37It's happening right here.
00:11:38And they ignore the other eight.
00:11:39And then what they'll do sometimes is they'll say,
00:11:42well, the other eight are spiritual.
00:11:44They're happening in a realm we can't see.
00:11:46Well, man, that cherry pie is in a realm you can't see,
00:11:50so you can enjoy that cherry pie while it's off in fantasy land,
00:11:54and you're still missing the cherry pie.
00:11:56That's really the problem here.
00:11:58What I'm trying to say is I have looked at this backwards and forwards
00:12:02because when I left, I left the cult with a doomsday mindset.
00:12:05I know all of the passages they use.
00:12:08I know all of the ones that they use to apply to Israel.
00:12:11And here's where I'm going to step on a few toes, upset a few people.
00:12:16I have never yet really given my opinion on the scriptures
00:12:20when I talk about theology.
00:12:22I usually say there are differences in ways theology is viewed.
00:12:26And I'm going to preface that with this now,
00:12:29but I'm going to also preface it with the cherry pie parable
00:12:33because we went to things like there's a passage in Ezekiel
00:12:37that talks about gathering from all of the country.
00:12:40You know, the dry bones passage.
00:12:42Gather all of you from your lands and take you.
00:12:44Well, when Latarine broke out, it's breaking out on the verge of this big event
00:12:52where Israel is coming back into this nation.
00:12:53They're saying, look, I see these two things.
00:12:56And they're totally ignoring not only the other eight,
00:12:58but like you said, what about the things that happened in the past
00:13:02that was actually part of the prophecy?
00:13:04It was not just Israel and Judah becoming one nation.
00:13:08That theme came from British Israelism.
00:13:11They were trying to say that the United States and Canada and England
00:13:14are the descendants of the lost ten tribes.
00:13:17Therefore, this passage is being fulfilled in your day.
00:13:20But what about the one Davidic king ruling over them?
00:13:23What about God's covenant of peace?
00:13:25All of these things that are part of that prophecy,
00:13:28they just throw it into the spiritual and they say, look, it's being fulfilled
00:13:31because we see these two out of these 10, 15 things.
00:13:35And what it has done, it has trained people to shut off all critical thinking.
00:13:39That's one of the worst things that they can do.
00:13:41But the second worst thing they can do,
00:13:43they just glaze over when they read the Bible and they say,
00:13:46I just can't understand this.
00:13:47I remember when I left the cult, somebody actually told me,
00:13:50I'm explaining to them, there's no way that this is correct
00:13:53because the Bible is very explicit right here.
00:13:55And they said, yeah, I know I can read that and it doesn't make sense,
00:13:59but I just don't have the power to understand it.
00:14:02I'm glad that God sent a prophet and the prophet could explain it to me.
00:14:06And you can't reconcile it.
00:14:08That's the point I'm trying to make.
00:14:10Yeah.
00:14:10And as I said earlier, John,
00:14:11there's a lot of discussion on how to interpret the Olivet Discourse
00:14:16because there do seem to be parts of it that were fulfilled in AD 70.
00:14:21And then there also seem to be parts of it that you can't reconcile with AD 70.
00:14:29So, you know, you have to do a little bit of cherry picking, you know,
00:14:32from your cherry pie.
00:14:34You have to do a little cherry picking.
00:14:36I think this applies to AD 70 and I think this doesn't.
00:14:39But for my young 17-year-old mind, you know,
00:14:42you've got to picture me where I was.
00:14:45Because, you know, whenever Israel got her capital city back in 1967,
00:14:52you know, I'm eight or nine years old, so I'm not watching the news.
00:14:55I'm watching Batman and Robin on TV.
00:14:57I'm not – I don't know anything going on.
00:15:00And so when I learned this from Hobart, and, you know, you go back and say,
00:15:04oh, yeah, I see Israel did in the Six-Day War.
00:15:07It was somewhat of a miraculous victory for the Israeli people and pilots
00:15:12and army and nation that got their city back.
00:15:14And then he brings in this verse that Jerusalem will be under Gentile domination
00:15:22until – and then he shows you when that until happened.
00:15:26It happened in my lifetime when I was a young boy.
00:15:29And so – and then you would go into talking about the fig tree.
00:15:34Israel is the fig tree.
00:15:35You know, everybody said Israel is a fig tree.
00:15:37And so for the first few years of my Christian charismatic life and experience,
00:15:45you know, I definitely believe that.
00:15:47But, you know, the good news is it didn't end there.
00:15:51I had some time to continue to read my Bible.
00:15:55And, you know, as I read my Bible, you know some of the things I saw, John,
00:15:59that I don't know, even to this day, prophecy preachers still aren't telling anyone,
00:16:05and yet they're right there in the passage itself.
00:16:09I think the first thing – you know, if I didn't know anything else, you know,
00:16:13just say this young Cheno doesn't know anything else except what Hobart's told him.
00:16:19Then I look at Luke 21, 24, and I think, okay, Luke 21, 24 has been fulfilled
00:16:26because now Israel has her city back.
00:16:28I can't possibly know or think anything but that because that's all I've been taught.
00:16:32But within a few years, I'm reading my Bible, and I get to the last book of the Bible,
00:16:38I get to Revelation, I get to chapter 11, I get to verse 2,
00:16:42and I find that same or a very, very similar phrase again
00:16:47that regardless of whether Israel did or didn't get her city back,
00:16:53and she got most of it back in 67,
00:16:55there's still a future time where if people will read Revelation 11 and verse 2,
00:17:03they will see that the city is going to be trodden down, given over to the Gentiles.
00:17:10So it's either going to happen again or Luke 21, 24b really was not fulfilled in the Six-Day War.
00:17:20And so then I read other things, and I came to realize that Israel is really not referred to
00:17:30in the Old Testament under the symbolism of a fig tree.
00:17:35Normally, the nation of Israel is referred to as a vine or a vineyard.
00:17:41And so you go, well, I don't know if Israel is the fig tree,
00:17:46because the prophecy preacher said Israel is a fig tree,
00:17:51and when Israel begins to blossom, that's the way they would interpret that.
00:17:55When Israel begins to blossom, and the blossoming is them getting their city back,
00:18:00then you know that you're living in the last generation.
00:18:04But guess what?
00:18:05The same chapter, Luke 21, goes on to say,
00:18:09Jesus, in Luke's version, says,
00:18:13Behold the fig tree and all the trees.
00:18:17In other words, Israel is not the fig tree.
00:18:22He is giving a parable, and the parable is so obvious,
00:18:25and he's not just specifying the fig tree.
00:18:30I think down in verse 29 is where he says,
00:18:33And all the trees.
00:18:34In other words, he's saying,
00:18:35This is what happens to all trees when you see them begin to bud.
00:18:41I mean, this doesn't take much sense at all to realize.
00:18:45You know you're in spring, and summer will be here soon.
00:18:49That's all he's saying by that.
00:18:51And he's not saying Israel is a fig tree.
00:18:53He said this is true of any and every tree,
00:18:56that when you see trees bloom and blossom,
00:18:59you know summer is coming.
00:19:01And so, consequently, he said,
00:19:04So, the people that do witness some of these things happening
00:19:07can know that they are living in the end times.
00:19:11But which of those things?
00:19:14And so, here is where it took another interesting path,
00:19:19and that concerned the word generation.
00:19:22Hobart didn't make a whole lot with this word,
00:19:25but everybody else did.
00:19:28This generation will not pass away.
00:19:31So, there have been all kinds of books published
00:19:33and sermons preached on what is meant by generation.
00:19:36Does it mean the people of Israel?
00:19:39Does it mean the people living when Jesus was speaking?
00:19:42That's the way the liberal scholarship would take it,
00:19:45so that Jesus ends up being a false prophet,
00:19:48because he said the people living now,
00:19:50when he was talking,
00:19:52wouldn't die until everything's been fulfilled,
00:19:54and here we are 2,000 years later.
00:19:56The way that Hobart Freeman took that,
00:20:00and the way that probably most evangelical prophecy preachers
00:20:04took it then and now,
00:20:06was that a generation referred to a certain length of lifespan of people.
00:20:15And so, it would be argued,
00:20:17was it 40 years?
00:20:18Is it 70 years?
00:20:20And when do we date the beginning of that generation?
00:20:23Some people, as we'll see here in a few moments,
00:20:26when I share some information from some other preachers,
00:20:30would say it began in 1948.
00:20:33So, depending on how long you want to make a generation,
00:20:37you've got either 40 years or 70 years to wait
00:20:41until the second advent.
00:20:43Or, if you want to say that generation
00:20:45really needs to be jump-started at the six-day war,
00:20:50then you've got 1967.
00:20:51You add your, however long you think a generation is.
00:20:55You add your 40 years,
00:20:56which is what most people would say,
00:20:58your 70 years.
00:21:00And, of course, the problem is,
00:21:02as you can tell,
00:21:03the more time elapses,
00:21:05the more you have to go back
00:21:07and revisit how long you think a generation is.
00:21:11If a generation is 40 years,
00:21:14then neither one of those times work,
00:21:1748 or 67.
00:21:19So, you have to start stretching that and say,
00:21:21well, I think maybe a generation is 70.
00:21:23And before you know it,
00:21:24people will be up to the lifespan of Moses,
00:21:28of 120 years.
00:21:30And then once you get to 120 years,
00:21:32then all bets are off.
00:21:33You know, once you get to 121 years,
00:21:36all bets are off
00:21:37because people are just grabbing at straws,
00:21:41you can tell.
00:21:42But this had a big impact on my life,
00:21:45and I hope people listening can understand
00:21:47how and why it was through
00:21:49Dr. Freeman's interpretation
00:21:50of this particular passage in Luke chapter 21.
00:21:53So, now I'm going to go to the parable
00:21:55of the hundred messiahs.
00:21:57Only, it's actually not a parable.
00:21:59This is history.
00:22:00I don't know if you have read
00:22:01Josephus' Antiquities of the Jews.
00:22:03He lists all of the different messiahs that came
00:22:06and all of the different versions of the end time
00:22:10that was nigh whenever the people saw Rome invade.
00:22:13If you read that history,
00:22:15there's a part of that history
00:22:17that most people that I have talked to
00:22:20who are in this movement
00:22:21and the movements that branch from it
00:22:23are fully unaware with,
00:22:24and that is the abomination of desolation.
00:22:27When the Romans come in,
00:22:28they would actually set up this thing
00:22:30in the temple that was abominable to the Jews
00:22:32and that was truly the abomination of desolation for them
00:22:35because they just desolated Jerusalem.
00:22:38Well, you had all of these people
00:22:40who were claiming to be the predicted messiah
00:22:43and knowing how this works,
00:22:45you have humans who are saying,
00:22:46look, here's a guy claiming to be the messiah.
00:22:49He's coming to deliver us.
00:22:50Well, then he doesn't.
00:22:51And then there's another one and another one.
00:22:53Josephus lists all of these people
00:22:55that are the messiah, the coming one.
00:22:58And then there's one page that says this is,
00:23:00I think it says this is the Jesus of Nazareth
00:23:02or something like this.
00:23:04That was actually penciled in or written in,
00:23:06not penciled, but written with a pen and ink, I guess,
00:23:09on the scroll after the text was written,
00:23:12but a copyist copied it
00:23:14and people today mistakenly think
00:23:16that was part of the original.
00:23:18Josephus just listed all of them.
00:23:19He didn't really have a preference
00:23:21which one was the Jesus that we know.
00:23:24But that history exists
00:23:26because whenever people saw one or two
00:23:30of the 10 or 12 things that are predicted,
00:23:34well, this must be it.
00:23:35People look, here's a messiah right here.
00:23:37He's claiming to be it.
00:23:38And then he's not.
00:23:40Well, what happened with 1948,
00:23:45whenever Israel comes to be a nation,
00:23:47you had all of these people
00:23:49who were giving a lot of credence
00:23:53to the restoration theology.
00:23:55They were saying that God is coming
00:23:56to restore the church
00:23:57and they were already looking for the Jews
00:24:00to come into a location.
00:24:01So you had people who were heavily influenced
00:24:06by that type of theology
00:24:07who were in politics
00:24:08helping to form the nation of Israel.
00:24:11So there's a politics angle that comes to it.
00:24:13There's a Christianity angle,
00:24:15Protestantism, etc.
00:24:16Well, what happened was
00:24:18when it did happen,
00:24:19suddenly everybody who's in the restoration mindset
00:24:22and especially those in latter rain,
00:24:24they just went nuts
00:24:25because look, there it is.
00:24:27It's right here.
00:24:28We see it politically.
00:24:30The problem is, again,
00:24:31not all of the things were fulfilled
00:24:33and they were starting to look at
00:24:35grasping at straws,
00:24:36trying to figure out,
00:24:37well, how do we say this is the rest of it?
00:24:40But within the movement,
00:24:41that started the heightened urgency
00:24:44to predict the doomsday.
00:24:46If you open up the very first few issues
00:24:48of the Voice of Healing,
00:24:50they've got these countdowns of dates
00:24:52and they've got,
00:24:53here's where the Jews were invaded,
00:24:55they're walking through Germany,
00:24:56all of this,
00:24:57and they're doing
00:24:58all these mathematical formulas
00:25:00to predict it.
00:25:01And in the midst of all of this hype,
00:25:061954, William Branham publishes this,
00:25:09or it's a recording, actually,
00:25:11but it was published later in a book,
00:25:13Questions and Answers.
00:25:14Question number nine in the 1954,
00:25:17questions and answers number one,
00:25:18what position will the church be in
00:25:20when the gospel returns to the Jews?
00:25:22And he lays it out very plainly,
00:25:25that's in Luke 21, 24.
00:25:27And then he goes on to explain his reasoning why,
00:25:30which is exactly what you're describing.
00:25:32The reason why that caught my attention
00:25:34when you said that passage,
00:25:36that's one of the loaded language phrases
00:25:38in my head.
00:25:39Every time I hear it,
00:25:40I know exactly you're talking about Israel.
00:25:42And that's because we were programmed
00:25:44to believe this.
00:25:45The sad part of it is,
00:25:47there are different views
00:25:49of how all of this theology
00:25:51is to come to be.
00:25:52And I understand that.
00:25:53You may not believe like I do.
00:25:55I mean, I won't tell you what I believe.
00:25:58But there are so many people
00:25:59that are influenced by that,
00:26:01that the theology is actually swayed.
00:26:03And you have to ask the question,
00:26:05is it swayed in the right direction?
00:26:07And in my opinion,
00:26:08if it sways towards a doomsday thought,
00:26:10you're probably in a destructive group.
00:26:12So what I find surprising, John,
00:26:14is what you just said about Branham.
00:26:15Because I've often wondered,
00:26:18you know,
00:26:18how much of Hobart Freeman's theology
00:26:21came from William Branham.
00:26:23And the longer you and I
00:26:25have podcasted together,
00:26:27the more we realize
00:26:29a whole lot came from William Branham.
00:26:32And, you know, Hobart,
00:26:33to his dying day,
00:26:34says his famous quote was,
00:26:36I don't care what anyone says,
00:26:38I believe William Branham was God's prophet.
00:26:40And that was to deflect
00:26:42some of the weird stuff
00:26:44that Branham taught,
00:26:46like serpent sea,
00:26:47which Hobart did not agree with that.
00:26:49He somehow, in his mind,
00:26:51could tolerate a genuine,
00:26:53genuine biblical prophet,
00:26:56i.e. William Branham,
00:26:58you know, holding to crazy
00:26:59and heretical stuff,
00:27:01which is a whole other story in itself.
00:27:04But, you know,
00:27:08it was just,
00:27:08it was a really powerful part
00:27:10of the first few years
00:27:11of me listening to Dr. Freeman.
00:27:13I was just amazed
00:27:14because, you know,
00:27:15we all want to live in the last days.
00:27:19I mean,
00:27:20maybe we don't.
00:27:21I mean,
00:27:21I don't even think that way anymore.
00:27:24For some reason,
00:27:26that was the way
00:27:27evangelicalism was set up,
00:27:29charismatic and non-charismatic.
00:27:31You know,
00:27:32there's plenty of non-charismatic
00:27:34evangelicalism
00:27:35where people just say,
00:27:37Jesus is coming back any day.
00:27:38I think he's coming back
00:27:39in my lifetime.
00:27:41And I don't know why
00:27:43it's important to believe that
00:27:47or think that
00:27:47or even want to believe that.
00:27:49Is he coming back?
00:27:51Absolutely.
00:27:52The Bible says he left
00:27:54and he will return.
00:27:55Why it has to be important
00:27:57that he's coming back
00:27:58during my own personal lifetime,
00:28:00I haven't really figured that out.
00:28:03And it seems like
00:28:04there's a lot of bad things
00:28:06that will be happening
00:28:07in conjunction
00:28:08with the second advent.
00:28:09Maybe you don't want
00:28:10to be alive then.
00:28:11Maybe it would be better
00:28:12that you had already died
00:28:14and gone to heaven.
00:28:16But in looking at Luke 21, 24b,
00:28:19the second half of that verse,
00:28:20I just thought it was slam dunk.
00:28:22It was just,
00:28:22he had made the case.
00:28:24We're living in the last days.
00:28:25You know,
00:28:26it took me a little while
00:28:26to figure out the fig tree
00:28:28and find Revelation 11
00:28:29and verse two.
00:28:31But something that did not take me
00:28:33as long to figure out,
00:28:34John,
00:28:34was that says that
00:28:37Jerusalem will be trodden down
00:28:39until the times of the Gentiles
00:28:42are fulfilled.
00:28:42That is a particular,
00:28:45specific phrase.
00:28:46And Hobart had even taught on that
00:28:49that that phrase referred
00:28:52to Daniel's prophecy,
00:28:53where Daniel,
00:28:55with his own vision
00:28:58he has in chapter seven
00:28:59and with the dream
00:29:00that Nebuchadnezzar had
00:29:02in chapter two,
00:29:03seems to picture
00:29:05the future history
00:29:07with regard to Israel
00:29:09in relation to four world powers,
00:29:13Babylon,
00:29:14then Medo-Persia,
00:29:15then Greece,
00:29:15then Rome.
00:29:16And then,
00:29:18and those are all Gentile nations,
00:29:20that Jerusalem will be trodden down
00:29:22of the Gentiles
00:29:23until the times
00:29:25of the Gentiles
00:29:26are fulfilled.
00:29:27And the only thing
00:29:28that happened
00:29:29after the times
00:29:31of the Gentiles
00:29:31is the fifth kingdom,
00:29:33the Messianic kingdom.
00:29:35And,
00:29:35and it didn't start
00:29:36in July
00:29:38of 1967,
00:29:39you know?
00:29:41So,
00:29:41the way Hobart
00:29:43worked that out,
00:29:45he fudged on that
00:29:45and he said,
00:29:46well,
00:29:47he would use this analogy.
00:29:48He'd say,
00:29:48well,
00:29:49remember in the Second World War,
00:29:51the war officially
00:29:53can come to an end
00:29:55and the allied forces
00:29:56have defeated
00:29:57the Axis powers,
00:29:59but you know,
00:29:59there's still
00:30:00little skirmishes going on,
00:30:01little flare-ups
00:30:02over here
00:30:03and over there.
00:30:04Because I was wondering,
00:30:05well,
00:30:05at the times
00:30:06of the Gentiles
00:30:06had been fulfilled,
00:30:08i.e.
00:30:09Luke 21,
00:30:1024,
00:30:11then that should be
00:30:11the Second Advent.
00:30:14But he would hedge
00:30:15on that by saying,
00:30:16well,
00:30:17there are just
00:30:17a few more details
00:30:18that have to be
00:30:19taken care of.
00:30:20And so,
00:30:21you're fine with that
00:30:22as long as you're
00:30:23in the early
00:30:23to mid
00:30:24to late 1970s.
00:30:25You know,
00:30:26and he died in 84.
00:30:27What would he be saying now?
00:30:29You know,
00:30:30you have to start
00:30:32reinventing things.
00:30:33So,
00:30:33to me,
00:30:35it began
00:30:36not to make
00:30:37so much sense.
00:30:38Just the way,
00:30:39you know,
00:30:40he would say,
00:30:41well,
00:30:41the times of the Gentiles
00:30:43had been fulfilled
00:30:43because they got
00:30:44their city back.
00:30:45He never mentioned
00:30:46Revelation 11
00:30:48in verse 2.
00:30:49But they've got
00:30:50their city back.
00:30:51So,
00:30:51the times of the Gentiles,
00:30:52well,
00:30:52according to his own
00:30:53teachings on Daniel,
00:30:55then once the fourth kingdom,
00:30:57which was Rome,
00:30:58once that comes to an end
00:31:00and Jerusalem
00:31:01and Palestine
00:31:02are in the possession
00:31:04of the Jewish people,
00:31:06there's nothing left.
00:31:08It's the Messianic kingdom.
00:31:10And so,
00:31:11then I realized,
00:31:12well,
00:31:12now wait a minute.
00:31:15Jerusalem is primarily
00:31:17under control
00:31:18of the Jews,
00:31:19but even to this day
00:31:20in which we're speaking now,
00:31:23they're not in control
00:31:24of the whole city.
00:31:25There is a Muslim mosque,
00:31:27the Dome of the Rock,
00:31:28right on the Temple Mount.
00:31:31The Jewish people
00:31:32are not in control
00:31:33of that part of the city,
00:31:34and that seems to be
00:31:36a very important part
00:31:38of the city.
00:31:38So,
00:31:39all of these things
00:31:40just create
00:31:43problems
00:31:43in a person's mind.
00:31:45You're wondering,
00:31:45how can this person
00:31:47teach what he has taught
00:31:48on the times
00:31:49of the Gentiles
00:31:50and be teaching this?
00:31:52You know,
00:31:52John,
00:31:53it reminds me,
00:31:54there is a famous quote,
00:31:57this is a non-Christian
00:31:58background
00:31:59in writing completely,
00:32:00but you remember
00:32:01Lewis Carroll
00:32:02who wrote those
00:32:04fascinating
00:32:06children's novels
00:32:07about Alice's
00:32:09adventures
00:32:09in Wonderland,
00:32:10and then I think
00:32:11there was a subsequent
00:32:12through the looking glass.
00:32:15Through the looking glass,
00:32:17I'm just thinking
00:32:18about that right now
00:32:19in light of what
00:32:20I just said
00:32:21regarding Dr. Freeman's
00:32:23contradictory views
00:32:24about so many
00:32:25eschatological things.
00:32:27Through the looking glass
00:32:29introduced us
00:32:30to all these
00:32:31interesting characters
00:32:32like Humpty Dumpty
00:32:33and the Rabbit
00:32:34and Twiddly Dee
00:32:36and Twiddly Dum,
00:32:37but there was
00:32:38another character
00:32:39called the White Queen,
00:32:42I think was her name.
00:32:43There was a Red Queen
00:32:44and the White Queen,
00:32:46and the White Queen,
00:32:48who was supposed to be
00:32:49over 100 years old,
00:32:51the White Queen,
00:32:54whom Alice could never
00:32:56figure out,
00:32:58she made this famous quote
00:33:00where she said,
00:33:01sometimes I have believed
00:33:04six contradictory things
00:33:06before I've even eaten
00:33:08breakfast in the morning.
00:33:10And that is just an expression
00:33:13that was, I thought,
00:33:14brilliantly done
00:33:14by Lewis Carroll,
00:33:16how people can,
00:33:18before breakfast,
00:33:19believe six contradictory things,
00:33:21have all of these
00:33:22different things
00:33:23in their brain
00:33:24firing like pistons
00:33:27in a car,
00:33:28but yet they don't
00:33:30line up with each other.
00:33:31So when you look
00:33:32at the fact that
00:33:33Israel's not the fig tree,
00:33:35he's not talking about
00:33:37Israel as a fig tree
00:33:39because he's just saying
00:33:40all the trees
00:33:41have followed
00:33:42this same pattern
00:33:43of producing leaves
00:33:46and buds
00:33:46before they actually
00:33:47produce fruit.
00:33:49the fact that Israel
00:33:51didn't get her
00:33:52whole city back,
00:33:53she doesn't have it
00:33:54to this day,
00:33:55the fact that
00:33:56the times of the Gentiles
00:33:58must not have come
00:33:59to an end
00:34:00because they're still
00:34:01going to overrun
00:34:02the city
00:34:03at a future date
00:34:04in Revelation 11,
00:34:05too,
00:34:06just tells me
00:34:07I think
00:34:08Dr. Freeman's
00:34:09interpretation
00:34:10of Luke 11,
00:34:1124,
00:34:1221,
00:34:1324,
00:34:14rather,
00:34:14was wrong,
00:34:15and I better
00:34:16just put the brakes
00:34:17on all of this stuff
00:34:18concerning what
00:34:20you just said
00:34:21of this urgency
00:34:22that we can be certain
00:34:23that the Second Advent
00:34:24is going to happen
00:34:25any day.
00:34:26Have you ever wondered
00:34:28how the Pentecostal
00:34:29movement started
00:34:30or how the progression
00:34:31of modern Pentecostalism
00:34:33transitioned
00:34:34through the latter reign,
00:34:35charismatic,
00:34:36and other fringe movements
00:34:37into the New Apostolic Reformation?

00:35:26When I'm talking
00:35:27to somebody
00:35:28and I'm talking
00:35:28about something
00:35:29really important
00:35:30and my wife
00:35:31is with me,
00:35:32she's the one
00:35:33who corrects me
00:35:33and says,
00:35:34no, John,
00:35:34your memory's wrong.
00:35:35This happened
00:35:36slightly different
00:35:37and she'll make sure
00:35:38that the other party's aware
00:35:39that she's trying
00:35:40to keep John honest.
00:35:41And it just has to do
00:35:43with, you know,
00:35:44people's memories
00:35:45over time,
00:35:46they kind of change
00:35:47and they have this way
00:35:49of remembering things
00:35:51in the way
00:35:52that they want to
00:35:53rather than the painful parts
00:35:54that might make them
00:35:55feel uncomfortable later.
00:35:57That's just human nature.
00:35:58That's part of psychology.
00:36:00The reason I like history
00:36:01is because it's like my wife.
00:36:03Whenever it's documented,
00:36:04it keeps people honest.
00:36:07And I have made
00:36:08the statement a few times
00:36:09and now is the good
00:36:11goodest time of any
00:36:12to qualify it
00:36:13that the early Pentecostal movement
00:36:15was really
00:36:15Lateran 1.0.
00:36:17Lateran was Lateran 2.0.
00:36:19IHOP KC was Lateran 3.0
00:36:22and beyond.
00:36:23Well, there is a book
00:36:25which I'll admit
00:36:26I've not read it
00:36:27but I have read
00:36:28many scholars reference it
00:36:29in some of my research
00:36:30written by D. Wesley Myland.
00:36:33It's called
00:36:33The Lateran Covenant
00:36:34and Pentecostal Power
00:36:36and what this book did
00:36:38was it took
00:36:40what it considered
00:36:41to be the early reign
00:36:42it's taking that passage
00:36:43from Joel 2
00:36:44it says the early reign
00:36:46was Pentecost Acts 2.
00:36:47That's what it was predicting.
00:36:49So it's already ripped
00:36:51Joel's prophecy
00:36:52out of context
00:36:53and then it says
00:36:54he went on to
00:36:56try to say
00:36:57that the long dry period
00:36:59was actually
00:37:00what we call
00:37:01church history.
00:37:02That's when the church
00:37:03had this long dry period
00:37:05and then the latter rain
00:37:06is whenever
00:37:07the Lord came
00:37:08and restored
00:37:08the Holy Spirit power
00:37:09and he's referring to
00:37:11Azusa Street obviously.
00:37:12Well, he goes on to say
00:37:14that the harvest
00:37:15is going to be
00:37:16this final
00:37:16worldwide evangelism
00:37:18and that was a theme
00:37:19that was flowing
00:37:20in the early Pentecostal movement
00:37:22and the movements prior
00:37:24and all of this
00:37:25to sum up
00:37:26his main thesis
00:37:27which is
00:37:28the second coming
00:37:29is imminent.
00:37:30Now this book
00:37:30was written in 1910
00:37:32long before any of this
00:37:34so every Pentecostal
00:37:35is looking at this book
00:37:36thinking
00:37:37wow, when Israel comes
00:37:38this is it
00:37:39it's imminent.
00:37:40So when you look at
00:37:41Voice of Healing magazine
00:37:42or any of the other people
00:37:44who are doing
00:37:44all these calculations
00:37:45when's it going to be
00:37:46it's tomorrow
00:37:47it's next year
00:37:47they're all going back
00:37:49to this theme
00:37:50which wasn't unique
00:37:51that we're going to see
00:37:54Israel restored
00:37:55in their nation
00:37:56and then boom
00:37:56that's it
00:37:57it's happening.
00:37:58And so everybody thought
00:38:00Doomsday was right here
00:38:01upon us.
00:38:01Well what happened was
00:38:03it kind of fizzled out
00:38:04because Doomsday
00:38:05didn't happen
00:38:06so then the latter rain
00:38:07movement breaks out
00:38:08in North Battleford
00:38:09well suddenly it's reunited
00:38:11because not long after
00:38:13Israel actually becomes a nation
00:38:14so they get really excited
00:38:16and they think
00:38:17okay well
00:38:17we thought it was going to be
00:38:19that other one
00:38:19well it's this one.
00:38:20The point I'm trying to make
00:38:21in all of this is
00:38:22history keeps us honest.
00:38:24You can look back through time
00:38:26long before this
00:38:27and you're going to find
00:38:28people who find
00:38:28a political event
00:38:29they're going to find
00:38:30people who have
00:38:32some sort of a move
00:38:33in the church
00:38:34or whatever it is
00:38:34and they'll pick
00:38:35two or three things
00:38:36out of context
00:38:37and they'll say
00:38:37this passage of scripture
00:38:40means us
00:38:41and the worst error
00:38:42that I see in all of this
00:38:43really is the Joel 2.
00:38:45Joel 2's prophecy
00:38:46wasn't talking about this
00:38:47at all
00:38:47and if you understand
00:38:48that prophecy
00:38:49it's actually not
00:38:50that good of a thing
00:38:51it's talking about
00:38:52a plague that's coming
00:38:53to the land
00:38:53it's not talking about
00:38:55a great coming thing
00:38:56so whenever I'm looking
00:38:58at all of this mess
00:39:01yes I understand
00:39:02that there are
00:39:02different theological views
00:39:04and I'm not going to say
00:39:04that those are right or wrong
00:39:05but the error
00:39:07is trying to say
00:39:08that we know
00:39:09for certain what it is
00:39:10and I think that's
00:39:11where Hobart Freeman
00:39:12wandered off into error
00:39:13because he spoke
00:39:14with certainty
00:39:15yes I know this is it
00:39:16and look
00:39:17you have to obey me.
00:39:19yeah I don't know
00:39:21if you'll be up for it
00:39:22in the future
00:39:22but we could
00:39:23do a podcast together
00:39:25on the former
00:39:27and latter reign
00:39:28that would
00:39:29I don't know
00:39:29if you've done one
00:39:30but that would be
00:39:30an interesting one
00:39:33you know
00:39:33it's definitely true
00:39:35John
00:39:35that the New Testament
00:39:36does teach
00:39:39that the second coming
00:39:40will be sudden
00:39:41that it will be
00:39:43unexpected
00:39:44you know
00:39:45it's many times
00:39:46couched in the form
00:39:47of a thief in the night
00:39:50those aspects
00:39:51of the second coming
00:39:52are definitely there
00:39:53in the New Testament
00:39:54what I have always
00:39:55what I have wondered
00:39:56for the last 40 years
00:39:58is where
00:39:59did
00:40:01modern Christianity
00:40:02come up
00:40:03with the idea
00:40:05that the second coming
00:40:07of Jesus
00:40:08could happen
00:40:08at any moment
00:40:09that's not the same
00:40:11as saying
00:40:12it's going to be
00:40:12sudden or unexpected
00:40:13those are two
00:40:14entirely different
00:40:15philosophical concepts
00:40:17where did this idea
00:40:18come
00:40:19where did it begin
00:40:20what was the date
00:40:22the first date
00:40:23where from that
00:40:24date forward
00:40:25the second coming
00:40:26of Jesus
00:40:27could happen
00:40:27at any moment
00:40:28because I've simply
00:40:29just stopped people
00:40:30and said
00:40:30wait a minute
00:40:31let's analyze that
00:40:32do you believe
00:40:33do you believe
00:40:34Jesus could come
00:40:35at any moment
00:40:35they say yes
00:40:36said okay
00:40:38how long
00:40:39has that
00:40:41doctrine
00:40:42let's call it
00:40:43the imminency
00:40:44of the return
00:40:45of Christ
00:40:45how long has that
00:40:46been a true doctrine
00:40:47how long has it
00:40:48been true
00:40:48and they'll say
00:40:48well that's always
00:40:49been true
00:40:50and I'll say
00:40:51okay I was hoping
00:40:52you would say
00:40:52that
00:40:52so
00:40:54the day
00:40:55after Jesus
00:40:56ascended into
00:40:57heaven
00:40:58this is Acts
00:40:59111
00:41:00the day
00:41:00after he
00:41:01ascended into
00:41:02heaven
00:41:02could he have
00:41:03come back
00:41:03that day
00:41:05well
00:41:07no
00:41:07because
00:41:08you know
00:41:09he had to
00:41:09pour out
00:41:10the Holy Spirit
00:41:10first
00:41:11I said
00:41:11yes
00:41:12exactly
00:41:13that was
00:41:13going to be
00:41:1410 days
00:41:14later
00:41:15so he
00:41:16could not
00:41:16could he
00:41:17theoretically
00:41:18literally
00:41:19technically
00:41:20theologically
00:41:20in any way
00:41:21could he have
00:41:22come back
00:41:22prior to
00:41:23Pentecost
00:41:24no
00:41:24because he
00:41:25had predicted
00:41:26the outpouring
00:41:27of the Holy Spirit
00:41:28well then what
00:41:29about four months
00:41:30after Acts 2
00:41:31could Jesus
00:41:32have come back
00:41:33and they say
00:41:33well yes
00:41:34he
00:41:35the early church
00:41:36thought he could
00:41:36come back
00:41:37at any moment
00:41:37I said no
00:41:38they actually
00:41:39did not think
00:41:40that
00:41:40because he
00:41:41had predicted
00:41:42the gospel
00:41:43would be spread
00:41:44after the
00:41:45outpouring of
00:41:45the Holy Spirit
00:41:46in Jerusalem
00:41:48in Judea
00:41:49in Samaria
00:41:50and to the
00:41:50uttermost parts
00:41:51of the earth
00:41:52if he comes
00:41:54back there's
00:41:54no time
00:41:55for that
00:41:55to happen
00:41:56and you
00:41:56just work
00:41:57your way
00:41:57through
00:41:57early
00:41:59first century
00:42:01church history
00:42:01asking the
00:42:02person the
00:42:03question
00:42:03so when
00:42:04did this
00:42:05doctrine
00:42:06of imminency
00:42:07become a
00:42:09valid
00:42:09Christian
00:42:10doctrine
00:42:11what about
00:42:1210 years
00:42:1315 years
00:42:14after the
00:42:15day of
00:42:15Pentecost
00:42:16could he
00:42:17have come
00:42:17back
00:42:18at any
00:42:19moment
00:42:19and they
00:42:20say well
00:42:21yes
00:42:21and I
00:42:22say no
00:42:22because he
00:42:24appeared to
00:42:25Paul in
00:42:25a vision
00:42:26and said
00:42:26Paul had
00:42:27to appear
00:42:28before Caesar
00:42:29in Rome
00:42:29and testify
00:42:30about Jesus
00:42:31so he can't
00:42:32come back
00:42:33until at least
00:42:34Paul gets
00:42:34to Rome
00:42:35you know
00:42:35and you keep
00:42:36working your
00:42:37way through
00:42:37what the
00:42:39what the
00:42:40New Testament
00:42:40actually shows
00:42:42about early
00:42:44church history
00:42:45and their
00:42:45belief about
00:42:46the second
00:42:46advent
00:42:47and then you
00:42:47get all the
00:42:48way to the
00:42:48end of
00:42:48John's
00:42:49gospel
00:42:49which is a
00:42:51in John
00:42:5121 there's
00:42:52this remarkable
00:42:53prophecy
00:42:53where it
00:42:55has to do
00:42:55with John
00:42:56the beloved
00:42:57disciple
00:42:58and Peter
00:42:58and Jesus
00:43:00says to
00:43:01Peter when
00:43:01you were
00:43:02young
00:43:04you know
00:43:04you did
00:43:05what you
00:43:06wanted to
00:43:06do
00:43:07basically
00:43:07when you
00:43:08were old
00:43:08when you
00:43:09will become
00:43:09old
00:43:10you'll stretch
00:43:11forth your
00:43:11hands
00:43:12and someone
00:43:13else will
00:43:13carry you
00:43:14whether you
00:43:15don't want
00:43:15to go
00:43:16and John
00:43:16goes on to
00:43:17tell us
00:43:17that was a
00:43:18prediction
00:43:18of Peter's
00:43:19death
00:43:20so Jesus
00:43:21is saying
00:43:22Peter's not
00:43:23going to die
00:43:23as a young
00:43:24man or as
00:43:24a middle-aged
00:43:25man
00:43:25that is an
00:43:26absolute
00:43:27prediction
00:43:27that he
00:43:29is going
00:43:29to die
00:43:30and glorify
00:43:32Jesus
00:43:32in his
00:43:33death
00:43:33but he's
00:43:34going to
00:43:34die
00:43:34at an
00:43:34older
00:43:35age
00:43:35so again
00:43:36the second
00:43:36coming
00:43:37couldn't have
00:43:37happened
00:43:37until then
00:43:38so you
00:43:39know once
00:43:39I just
00:43:40sat down
00:43:41and just
00:43:41thought
00:43:42it's not
00:43:43deep
00:43:43it's not
00:43:44theological
00:43:45it's not
00:43:45philosophical
00:43:46it is
00:43:47logical
00:43:47could he
00:43:48have come
00:43:49back at
00:43:49any moment
00:43:50during the
00:43:50first century
00:43:52no
00:43:52certain things
00:43:53have to
00:43:54have happened
00:43:55and then
00:43:56John when
00:43:56you put
00:43:56with that
00:43:57all these
00:43:58parables
00:43:59that Jesus
00:43:59himself
00:44:00taught
00:44:01where he
00:44:02he taught
00:44:02a parable
00:44:03about a
00:44:03nobleman
00:44:04who was
00:44:05going to
00:44:05go into
00:44:05a far
00:44:06country
00:44:07and receive
00:44:08a kingdom
00:44:09and this
00:44:09far country
00:44:10implies
00:44:11distance
00:44:11which implies
00:44:12time
00:44:13and then
00:44:14he comes
00:44:15back
00:44:15you have
00:44:16other
00:44:16parables
00:44:17like the
00:44:17parable
00:44:18of the
00:44:18ten
00:44:19virgins
00:44:19the five
00:44:20foolish
00:44:21the five
00:44:21wise
00:44:22even the
00:44:23five that
00:44:23are wise
00:44:24once this
00:44:26person has
00:44:26gone
00:44:27they have
00:44:28fallen asleep
00:44:28you know
00:44:30they are
00:44:30asleep
00:44:31and then
00:44:32the bridegroom
00:44:33comes back
00:44:34all of these
00:44:35parables imply
00:44:37what a
00:44:37long period
00:44:39of time
00:44:39we don't
00:44:39know how
00:44:40long
00:44:40that's the
00:44:41whole thing
00:44:41we don't
00:44:42know how
00:44:42long
00:44:43so could
00:44:44he have
00:44:44come back
00:44:44in AD
00:44:4550
00:44:46no
00:44:46in AD
00:44:4760
00:44:47no
00:44:47in AD
00:44:4880
00:44:48no
00:44:49could he
00:44:50come back
00:44:50today
00:44:51I don't
00:44:52know if
00:44:52he could
00:44:53come back
00:44:53today or
00:44:54not
00:44:54that's the
00:44:55whole point
00:44:56of this
00:44:56it's going
00:44:56to be
00:44:57a long
00:44:57time
00:44:58and those
00:44:59parables
00:44:59tell us
00:45:01occupy
00:45:02until I
00:45:03come
00:45:04that's your
00:45:04responsibility
00:45:05and so
00:45:06I really
00:45:07don't know
00:45:08where this
00:45:10came from
00:45:11I honestly
00:45:11don't know
00:45:12why everyone
00:45:13seems to
00:45:14think
00:45:14you know
00:45:15some of it's
00:45:16connected to
00:45:16Israel
00:45:171948 and
00:45:181967
00:45:19for sure
00:45:20but there are
00:45:21probably people
00:45:22that don't even
00:45:22know Israel's
00:45:23history and
00:45:24maybe people
00:45:25who are
00:45:27who don't
00:45:28believe that
00:45:29Israel has
00:45:29any role
00:45:30that they are
00:45:31not God's
00:45:31clock and
00:45:32calendar
00:45:33that they
00:45:33don't have
00:45:33any role
00:45:34in eschatology
00:45:36I think
00:45:36there are
00:45:37people in
00:45:37that camp
00:45:38who still
00:45:39believe
00:45:39oh I
00:45:40think Jesus
00:45:40will probably
00:45:41come back
00:45:41in my
00:45:42lifetime
00:45:42I'm not
00:45:43I mean
00:45:45I think
00:45:45we should
00:45:45all pray
00:45:47as the
00:45:47New Testament
00:45:48closes
00:45:49with
00:45:49Maranatha
00:45:50come Lord
00:45:51Jesus
00:45:52we want
00:45:53him to
00:45:53come
00:45:54we
00:45:54we want
00:45:55there to
00:45:56be the
00:45:56establishment
00:45:57of the
00:45:57kingdom
00:45:57of God
00:45:58we want
00:45:58the will
00:45:59of God
00:45:59to be
00:45:59done
00:46:00on earth
00:46:00as it
00:46:01is in
00:46:01heaven
00:46:02but why
00:46:03that is
00:46:03necessary
00:46:04to happen
00:46:05during my
00:46:05lifetime
00:46:06I just
00:46:07don't
00:46:07understand
00:46:09I think
00:46:10when
00:46:10when everyone
00:46:11first becomes
00:46:12a Christian
00:46:12maybe you
00:46:13are so
00:46:14excited
00:46:15and enthusiastic
00:46:16about your
00:46:17relationship
00:46:18with the Lord
00:46:18and your
00:46:19walk with the
00:46:19Lord
00:46:20that you're
00:46:20just
00:46:20you just
00:46:21want
00:46:21all things
00:46:22to be
00:46:22fulfilled
00:46:23but as
00:46:24you
00:46:24spend
00:46:25some time
00:46:26in your
00:46:26Christian
00:46:26life
00:46:27you realize
00:46:27a Christian
00:46:28life
00:46:28is
00:46:29it is
00:46:29not a
00:46:30sprint
00:46:30it is
00:46:32a long
00:46:32distance
00:46:33journey
00:46:34and
00:46:35the odds
00:46:36of the
00:46:37Lord
00:46:38coming back
00:46:39during my
00:46:39lifetime
00:46:40I don't
00:46:40even know
00:46:41how to
00:46:41predict
00:46:41what the
00:46:42odds
00:46:42are
00:46:42but I
00:46:43would
00:46:43assume
00:46:44I would
00:46:45just
00:46:45assume
00:46:46you say
00:46:47assume
00:46:48based on
00:46:48what channel
00:46:49with what I'm
00:46:49getting ready
00:46:50I would
00:46:50assume
00:46:51based on
00:46:512000 years
00:46:52of church
00:46:53history
00:46:53I would
00:46:54assume
00:46:54that he
00:46:55probably
00:46:55will not
00:46:56come back
00:46:56during my
00:46:57lifetime
00:46:57it's kind
00:46:58of arrogant
00:46:59it's a
00:47:00little
00:47:00it does
00:47:01John
00:47:01does it
00:47:01not
00:47:01border
00:47:02a little
00:47:02bit
00:47:02on
00:47:03selfishness
00:47:03and arrogance
00:47:04to think
00:47:05that somehow
00:47:05me
00:47:06and you
00:47:07we are
00:47:07we're more
00:47:08important than
00:47:09the people
00:47:09that lived
00:47:10500 years
00:47:10ago
00:47:11and so
00:47:11surely
00:47:12he's got
00:47:12to come
00:47:12back
00:47:13during my
00:47:13lifetime
00:47:14I believe
00:47:15he is
00:47:15literally
00:47:16bodily
00:47:16visibly
00:47:17coming
00:47:17back
00:47:18but I
00:47:19just
00:47:19don't
00:47:19know
00:47:19when
00:47:20you
00:47:20probably
00:47:21didn't
00:47:21catch
00:47:21it
00:47:22in the
00:47:22comments
00:47:22but I've
00:47:22had a few
00:47:23people who
00:47:23tell me
00:47:24John you
00:47:24have a
00:47:24wonderful
00:47:25gift of
00:47:25discernment
00:47:26to which
00:47:27I always
00:47:27respond
00:47:28no man
00:47:29I just
00:47:29simply ask
00:47:30questions
00:47:30I like
00:47:31to ask
00:47:31questions
00:47:32and figure
00:47:32things out
00:47:33it doesn't
00:47:33mean I
00:47:34have a
00:47:34gift
00:47:34of any
00:47:34sort
00:47:36look at
00:47:37it like
00:47:37this
00:47:37I'm
00:47:38standing
00:47:38in my
00:47:38room
00:47:39my
00:47:39five-year-old
00:47:40runs up
00:47:41to me
00:47:41with a
00:47:41tool
00:47:41from my
00:47:42garage
00:47:42and looks
00:47:44at me
00:47:44and the
00:47:45minister
00:47:48and my
00:47:48son is
00:47:49five years
00:47:49old
00:47:49and he
00:47:50says
00:47:50dad
00:47:50I found
00:47:51this hatchet
00:47:51I want
00:47:52to go
00:47:52outside
00:47:52and play
00:47:53with it
00:47:53and the
00:47:54minister
00:47:54says
00:47:54well he's
00:47:55old enough
00:47:56he's strong
00:47:56enough
00:47:57he can hold
00:47:58it
00:47:59so therefore
00:47:59he must be
00:48:00able to go
00:48:00out and play
00:48:01with it
00:48:01and I'm
00:48:01thinking as a
00:48:02dad
00:48:02I know the
00:48:03conclusion
00:48:03of what will
00:48:04happen
00:48:04if he does
00:48:05this
00:48:05and we'll be
00:48:06going to the
00:48:06hospital
00:48:06because I'm
00:48:07looking beyond
00:48:08what I see
00:48:10presently
00:48:10to the
00:48:11consequences
00:48:12that can
00:48:12happen
00:48:12later
00:48:13the
00:48:13problem
00:48:14is
00:48:14people
00:48:15have
00:48:15given
00:48:16just
00:48:16handed
00:48:16over
00:48:17the
00:48:17reins
00:48:17to
00:48:17the
00:48:17minister
00:48:18in
00:48:18the
00:48:18room
00:48:18whatever
00:48:19he wants
00:48:20to say
00:48:21looking at
00:48:21the here
00:48:22and now
00:48:22and not
00:48:23looking at
00:48:23its logical
00:48:24conclusion
00:48:24the reason I
00:48:26say that
00:48:26is this
00:48:28whenever the
00:48:28latter rain
00:48:29movement broke
00:48:29out
00:48:30not long
00:48:31after this
00:48:31they started
00:48:33taking all
00:48:33of these
00:48:33doctrines to
00:48:34their logical
00:48:35conclusion
00:48:35if you're
00:48:36going to go
00:48:37back to the
00:48:37book of
00:48:37Joel
00:48:38well then
00:48:39you have to
00:48:39put us
00:48:40back into
00:48:40the Old
00:48:41Testament
00:48:41if you're
00:48:42going to
00:48:42put us
00:48:42back into
00:48:42the Old
00:48:43Testament
00:48:43and
00:48:44this
00:48:45British
00:48:45Israel
00:48:46theme
00:48:46and
00:48:46restoration
00:48:47theme
00:48:47is
00:48:47part
00:48:48of
00:48:48it
00:48:48well
00:48:49what's
00:48:49he
00:48:50going
00:48:50to
00:48:50restore
00:48:50the
00:48:51old
00:48:51covenant
00:48:51Jews
00:48:52had
00:48:52the
00:48:52feasts
00:48:53so
00:48:53they
00:48:53published
00:48:54the
00:48:54Feast
00:48:54of
00:48:54Tabernacles
00:48:55which
00:48:55led
00:48:55into
00:48:55all
00:48:56kinds
00:48:56of
00:48:56confusion
00:48:57and
00:48:58if
00:48:58you
00:48:58continue
00:48:59down
00:48:59that
00:49:00trail
00:49:00I'm
00:49:00going
00:49:00to
00:49:00stop
00:49:00there
00:49:01because
00:49:01you
00:49:01can
00:49:01go
00:49:01wander
00:49:02off
00:49:02into
00:49:02extremes
00:49:02but
00:49:03if
00:49:03you
00:49:03follow
00:49:04that
00:49:04trail
00:49:04out
00:49:05look
00:49:06at
00:49:06the
00:49:06way
00:49:06the
00:49:06Jews
00:49:06worshipped
00:49:07in
00:49:07that
00:49:08old
00:49:08system
00:49:08it
00:49:09didn't
00:49:10it
00:49:10was
00:49:10different
00:49:11than
00:49:11some
00:49:12of
00:49:12the
00:49:12other
00:49:12religions
00:49:12of
00:49:13the
00:49:13ancient
00:49:13world
00:49:13but
00:49:13in
00:49:13many
00:49:14ways
00:49:14there
00:49:14were
00:49:14similarities
00:49:15that
00:49:15nobody
00:49:15is
00:49:15going
00:49:16to
00:49:16do
00:49:16today
00:49:16you're
00:49:17not
00:49:17going
00:49:17to
00:49:17carry
00:49:17birds
00:49:18up
00:49:18to
00:49:18an
00:49:18altar
00:49:19and
00:49:19burn
00:49:19it
00:49:20and
00:49:21there
00:49:21are
