03:46That being said, tonight we are talking NXT results.
03:49And I've got to be honest, I was really frustrated to open the show.
03:52Robert Stone announcing that Mason Rook is out of his championship match tonight
03:56with Grayson Waller.
03:59I was looking forward to the match, especially after the promo that went viral last week
04:02with him trash talking and really hitting Grayson Waller with the microphone.
04:06I really enjoyed that.
04:07And I was, that really, it built enough intrigue and interest in this week's match.
04:11I didn't expect Waller to lose because he only recently won the championship.
04:15But if he would have, it would not have shocked me because as popular as Mason Rook is becoming,
04:21that could be a really interesting angle to book.
04:24However, that's not going to happen right now.
04:26We don't know how long Mason Rook is going to be out for.
04:28He's been pulled out of the match.
04:29And honestly, I don't know if this is keyfabe or a legit injury.
04:32They didn't, you know, obviously it's so early.
04:34We don't know.
04:35I'm hoping it's keyfabe.
04:37I'm hoping there's a reason they pulled him out here.
04:39Maybe they want to save that match for a bigger moment.
04:42Maybe they want to run an injury storyline or something.
04:44If it was a legit injury, you got to wonder, is this something that happened in training
04:48or something like that?
04:48Whatever it is.
04:49Unfortunately, Mason Rook out.
04:51He's going to have an open challenge later in the evening for Grayson Waller.
04:56That is Robert Stone has that set up.
04:58From there, we get Zarya defending the Women's North American Championship against Thea Hale.
05:03And look, I would love to believe that Thea Hale was going to win this match because I
05:07feel like when she won, and if you remember, she's the one who, when she won the championship
05:11the first time, it was kind of like an odd booking decision.
05:14It wasn't, according to plan, Blake Monroe injured during the match.
05:18And they kind of did a switch when they weren't supposed to.
05:22But on the heels of that, I think the people really accepted her.
05:25Maybe because it was an unplanned title change or whatnot.
05:27But I kind of wanted to see her win this to kind of validate that her first run with that
05:32championship wasn't a fluke.
05:34And instead, we're not going to get that.
05:36From there, we get, and look, I'm not going to go through all the different people because
05:39quite frankly, I couldn't care less.
05:41We get a host of the tag teams competing in the Dusty Classic in the back, and they're
05:46cutting promos on each other about who's going to beat who and who's going to be in the
05:50finals.
05:51Noam Dar is back there.
05:54The Wagner Brothers are back there.
05:56There's a whole bunch of people back there.
05:58And I started, right away, I started to get some of the vibes I had on Raw, where they
06:04had, it was 10 or 11 speaking segments, promo segments, and only four matches.
06:08I look at this, and we literally, we've got our second promo already in the back.
06:14And it was, I think many of the talents performing in this Dusty Classic are not mainstream enough
06:21to occupy this much television time.
06:23Raw, I still didn't like it on Raw, but at Raw, at least you could argue that it's main
06:27event talent.
06:28Some of these guys wrestling in this tag team tournament, they're just not on the level
06:34to really hold the audience.
06:37So it turns into a snore fest for me, just being honest.
06:40From there, we get, here we go, we're going to start adding them up.
06:42We get another promo segment where it's Miles Bourne in the ring.
06:45And I'll be honest with you, I would have liked any other promo from him than this.
06:50This made him seem like an insecure whiner.
06:54Oh, you know, Ethan Page told him, gave him advice, and it's basically, you know, are you
06:58going to be a tag team wrestler for forever?
07:00Are you going to do this for yourself kind of thing?
07:02And he had to step out of the, you know, and do this for himself.
07:05I think any of us could have written that promo in third grade.
07:08I just, it doesn't make him look strong.
07:10And that's what I wanted to see.
07:12I wanted to see Miles Bourne look strong.
07:14That way he's, he's in a position to be a credible main event level superstar in the
07:20near future.
07:20Instead, I felt like this promo kind of made him look weak.
07:24That's just my reaction.
07:25Um, Lizzie Rain talking to Robert Stone.
07:27We got another promo in the back, because why not have another promo in the back?
07:31And from there, it leads into an introductory promo between Mini Vakingo and Chaz Starboy
07:37Hall introducing himself to Robert Stone.
07:38They have a dusty classic match coming up.
07:41And if you have been watching AAA, you know who these guys are.
07:45But if you haven't, you had no idea who these guys were.
07:47Now, Mini Vakingo is pretty solid in terms of being a performer.
07:50They both are.
07:52But, you know, I, I would really appreciate if WWE would give him a new name.
07:56We've got El Ojiho Del Vakingo already, who's on the injury list right now.
08:01But we don't need two Vakingos in WWE.
08:04We just don't.
08:05Give him a different name.
08:06WWE is good at that anyways.
08:08Change his name.
08:08Give him something unique, something that's him.
08:10It's still Lucha, but can just be his.
08:12But basically, they introduce themselves to Robert Stone, and then we go into their match.
08:17And when they go out for their match, they, they're going against Birthright.
08:20And I think everybody going in is like, well, this is obviously a squash match, really, for
08:24Birthright.
08:25They're facing Stax and Uriah Connors.
08:27It's very obvious Birthright is going to win this, move on to the next round, until it's
08:31not obvious, because Mini Vakingo and Chaz Starboy Hall upset Birthright.
08:36And they are moving on in the dusty tournament.
08:38This was the one piece of business tonight that I genuinely enjoyed, that I thought was
08:44just absolutely fantastic.
08:47The fact that they pulled the trigger on this, and because Birthright has been on television
08:52every week.
08:53They're in a prime position.
08:54So I expected them to be booked a lot stronger, and then that didn't happen.
08:58When you lose to Mini Vakingo and Starboy, what does that do to Birthright?
09:04Alright, now there is a beatdown afterwards, and maybe that's why you do it.
09:08You do it for the beatdown, which brings out Zilla, who's going to make the save.
09:13And I guess that's a way to get Zilla on the show without having him have a match.
09:16But whatever, is what it is.
09:20Zilla, he is so good already.
09:22I mean, let's be honest.
09:23If he's a member of the N.O.I.E. family, he's going to be a stud performer anyways.
09:29But I really, I'm shocked they haven't already explored moving him to the main roster because
09:34he's that good.
09:36From there, Kalani Jordan, another promo, yet another one.
09:41But this one's much more interesting to me.
09:43I got very excited because of this promo.
09:45Because first off, Kalani Jordan needs an opponent for the NXT Women's Championship.
09:49So they're going to have a 20-woman battle royal.
09:52Nothing too riveting yet.
09:54But when they announce that the competitors in the battle royal are going to be from Raw,
10:00SmackDown, NXT, AAA, Evolve, and TNA Wrestling.
10:08Which superstars, which ladies are you bringing from TNA to put into this match to have an opportunity
10:15to get a shot at the NXT Women's Championship?
10:17Now, I thought about this, and I don't know who you pick.
10:21Do you bring in Ash by elegance because she's got experience in WWE's system?
10:24Do you bring in the NXT Women's Champion?
10:27Do you bring in one of their lower performers trying to give them some experience in the
10:33rub of being in another promotion?
10:35Do you bring in, I don't even know at this point.
10:37Do you bring in Zia Brookside?
10:39Do you bring in, I don't know.
10:41I really don't know.
10:42There's so many that they could go.
10:45Rosemary's a good one.
10:47I don't know.
10:47I'll have to wait and see how they book that.
10:49But I'm just excited because this gave me chills because I've been waiting for them to do more
10:53with TNA.
10:54All the reports lately about how the partnership with TNA has been down in the toilet and there's
10:59nothing going on with it.
11:00This is a reaffirmation that they're going to fix that.
11:03Maybe they saw all the comments online and they want to rectify the situation.
11:06I'm all in for it.
11:08No AEW pun intended.
11:10I really want to see this TNA partnership be more substantial.
11:14I want to see WWE really invest in that partnership.
11:17I need to see as much quality wrestling as I can.
11:20And TNA has given up so much to WWE, losing three of their biggest stars and just not getting
11:25enough of a rub.
11:26I love the idea that they're rekindling that.
11:29After the announcement, Reyna Volkana attacks, lays out Kehlani Jordan, which is fine.
11:36I think obviously she'll be in the battle royal, uh, Naraku and Shaquan and Saquan Sugars
11:41are in the back.
11:42They're having a promo.
11:43It's another promo segment because why not?
11:45We need to have as many of these as we possibly can.
11:48Um, and it really, nothing was accomplished with theirs either.
11:52Um, they're, you know, there's, they have some matches.
11:57They were promised by Robert Stone and they want to make sure that they're in there.
12:00They want to be a part of the open challenge.
12:02Um, from there, another dusty classic match, Fraxium defeats Darkstate.
12:06I also did not expect that.
12:08Even though Fraxium is a main roster level team, I didn't expect them to win because
12:13Darkstate has been such a huge part of NXT.
12:15So I would, you would think that they would be the team to move on in the tournament.
12:18That's not the case.
12:19Fraxium moves on.
12:20Darkstate's eliminated.
12:21We get a Kendall Gray therapy conversation.
12:25She's in therapy, still trying to work her way back.
12:28Um, I guess this is a way to keep her on television, keep her in front of your eyes because
12:31she may be the future of the women's division.
12:34We have another segment with Izzy Dami and Zarya in the back.
12:38They're both going to be in the battle Royal.
12:40Zarya is going to be looking for revenge because earlier in the evening, Izzy was, was, was
12:44bullying her in the back.
12:46I am not a fan of bullying angles.
12:48I think it's, it's, it's, it's lazy booking.
12:51That's just my opinion.
12:52And then we get to the main event of the night.
12:53Grayson Waller defending the NXT championship in an open challenge.
12:57And the person who answers his challenge is EK Prosper.
13:01Very cool moment.
13:02I did not expect him to win.
13:04And he doesn't, you know, Grayson Waller retains.
13:06Maybe they're saving, uh, the Mason Rook match for later and maybe he'll be the one to dethrone
13:09him.
13:10But I love that EK Prosper got this moment, got the shine, got to be in a world championship
13:15match one-on-one with the champion.
13:18Um, and I'm glad they didn't just give it to like a Noraku or a Tony D'Angelo or something
13:23like that.
13:24Who's been in the world championship picture for, you know, in recent, recent memory, um,
13:30get somebody else up there, get them the rub with the main, main event scene.
13:34And that way you're, you're kind of priming them for an opportunity later on.
13:38All in all, I, I, I, I, I wasn't loving this episode.
13:42There was some stuff that was good.
13:43Again, I love the battle Royal announcement.
13:45I, I, I hated the fact that Rook is out.
13:48If it's key fave, I really hate it.
13:50Um, I love the EK Prosper appearance.
13:52I think that was really, really solid.
13:54Um, and I really loved the mini Vakingo and Chaz Starboy Hall winning in the dusty classic.
14:01Uh, the rest of the show though, again, just like raw, too many promos, too many backstage
14:06moments, not enough substance in ring.
14:09Look, Fraxium and, and dark state solid match.
14:13You know, the, the Zarya Thea Hale match, solid match.
14:16You know, the, we had a few matches, but most of the show is talking.
14:21It's a professional wrestling show.
14:23I want to see wrestling action.
14:25And, you know, I'm concerned that WWE is getting very lazy in how they fill their time.
14:32Television time is precious.
14:34I mean, I know there's talents who are itching to get on TV and they never get on TV.
14:37And we're going to take our TV time and waste it by all these promos.
14:40I was not a fan.
14:41That being said, I was said it the other day.
14:44I don't often give scores for a show on a scale of one to five stars, less than three,
14:49but raw was, was less than that for me.
14:52I think I said two and three quarter stars.
14:54This was even lower.
14:56It really was maybe two and a quarter, two and a half stars.
14:58And the only reason I'm giving it what I'm giving it and not giving it a horrible rating
15:02is because the Fraxia match, the shock win in the Dusty Classic for Mini Vakingo's team
15:07and the Thea Hale-Zarya match.
15:11Otherwise, this was not a great show.
15:13It really wasn't.
15:14Hopefully, WWE can pull things together.
15:16I don't want them to get too lazy.
15:18If they get enough viewership that they're keeping their network happy, then they don't
15:21seem to push it.
15:21And I want to see them push it.
15:22You got this great crop of young talent.
15:24They can handle it.
15:25Let them go out there and put on a show.
15:27Stop with all the talking.
15:28Do all that stuff in promo class.
15:30Right now, I want to see wrestling action.
15:33NXT is like an alternative for some people to AEW.
15:36If you want that to be the case, you got to give me what AEW gives me, which is a
15:39lot
15:39more wrestling action.
15:40That's what people want to see on NXT.
15:42That's what black and gold NXT was all about.
15:44We need to get back to that style of NXT, not this nonsense that is too much talk, not
15:49enough action.
