00:08This episode, we have got news all over the world of pro wrestling, an update on the creeds,
00:13we're going to see what's going on with Chris Jericho, Kane in the news today for a very
00:18interesting reason, and some New Japan conversation.
00:21We'll get into all that in just a moment, but for now, here's some tunes and I'll be
00:24right back with you.
00:46I got 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at Sacrifice.
00:58And you are just a buck-toothed netho baby who ate dog food for a weird old man.
01:05Yeah.
01:07Just when they think they got the answers, I change the questions.
01:12Did he do it?
01:13Cover.
01:14Oh, and a kick out.
01:17Unbelievable.
01:18I will never repair.
01:20Turn too hot to handle and too cold to hold, and I am a macho-finity savage.
01:29Shut your mouth, you thong-wearing fatty.
01:31It's me, Austin.
01:32Whoa!
01:33Bang!
01:35Oh, Austin, podcast.
01:37Jacob 5-2 is all gas.
01:40No brakes with it.
01:42Y'all are made.
01:455-2.
01:47Jacob 5-2 is all gas.
01:496-2 is all gas.
01:52I said WWE stands for...
01:544-8 is all gas.
01:57Promotional consideration paid for by the following.
02:02Welcome back to the show.
02:03Thank you so much for joining us.
02:05I am Dr. Fro.
02:06We love having you.
02:07Before we get into the wrestling news and rumors of the day, let's address some of the necessary
02:12stuff helps us keep the lights on.
02:14Starting with, are you sick and tired of dropping 60, 70?
02:18Who knows?
02:19Maybe over $100 a year, especially if you buy all the expansions and character packs for the
02:24latest and greatest wrestling video game.
02:25You gotta stop doing that.
02:27Dude, put that cash back in your pocket instead.
02:28Head over to Wrestler Unstoppable.
02:31It is totally free.
02:32You can create a wrestler, sign contracts, get into storylines, headline PLEs, even build
02:37your own corporation from the ground up.
02:38It is all included in Wrestler Unstoppable, and like I said, it is totally free.
02:43You go to app.wrestlerunstoppable.com, sign up with an email or a Facebook account, and
02:48you are in the game.
02:49Now, while you're in there, do a search for Odin Maximus.
02:53That is my avatar.
02:54I have an organization, Universal Wrestling Evolution, and I will be happy.
02:58If you send me an in-game message, let me know you're one of my listeners.
03:01I'll send you a contract offer to join my company just to help you get some extra cash
03:05and get started in the game.
03:06If you want to become a member of the Fro Wrestling Podcast family, we'd love to have
03:10you.
03:10There's several ways to do that.
03:12Now, if you want to sign up at the free, no cost, no obligation tier, that is perfectly
03:17okay.
03:17We have no issue with that.
03:19But the free tier will get you an email every time we have new content go live, and that
03:25way they notify you.
03:25You have to scroll through a whole bunch of stuff to try to find the content that you
03:28want to hear.
03:29It comes right to your email box.
03:31However, if you do want to be a monetary donor to the show, and you want your name in the
03:34shout-outs, like my good buddy John down in Texas.
03:37John, love giving you that shout-out.
03:38Thank you for being my loyal, loyal Patreon for all these years.
03:43Then you go over to patreon.com slash Fro Wrestling Podcast, sign up for any monetary donation
03:47amount, and that gets you into the shout-outs no matter what level you're contributing at.
03:51If you're helping us keep the lights on and bringing you content, I want to show you that
03:54appreciation.
03:55The shout-out is the least I can do.
03:57However, some people want to do more than that.
03:59You want to be a part of the show, and I love that.
04:01If you want to be a part of the show, there is a way to guarantee that at the $15
04:04a month
04:05or higher level, you're going to have the opportunity to co-host an episode with me.
04:09If you want to contribute at the $750 a month level, I enter you into a drawing to also
04:14potentially host an episode with myself.
04:15I draw one of those a month from that donation pool.
04:20If you have questions, concerns, something you want me to touch on in a future episode,
04:24I'm happy to do that.
04:26If it's important to you, it's important to me.
04:27You guys are the reason that I have a show to begin with.
04:29The best way to do that, you can either go to the Fro Wrestling Sound Offline, 267-642-1160,
04:35and it'll basically give you a talk-to-text opportunity to send me whatever it is, and
04:39I'll get to that in a future episode.
04:41However, if you want a much faster, more expedited response from me, whatever streaming platform
04:46you're getting my show through, like, share, subscribe, and most importantly, comment.
04:52Your comments come directly to me in a notification that I can engage with you in real time and
04:56get back to you much, much faster.
04:58And if it's important to you enough to reach out to me, which I greatly appreciate, then
05:01I want to do you the honor of responding in a very quick manner.
05:05And not make you wait around for whatever it is that you're looking to hear about.
05:08That being said, tonight's episode, we're going to get into various pieces of wrestling
05:12news from all over, multiple promotions.
05:14We're going to start with Chris Jericho.
05:15If you are unaware, Chris Jericho has had some soirees into the acting world.
05:20He has been in the horror film Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3.
05:25We know that earlier this year, it was announced that he's going to be playing Gorgeous George
05:29in a series about Muhammad Ali called The Greatest.
05:33And now it's being reported, according to Deadline, that Chris Jericho is going to appear
05:37in another horror-related film, a horror action film called I Am Teeth by Epic Pictures Group.
05:44It's going to be directed by Scott B. Hanson.
05:46And listen, it looks like Jericho is really starting to push some of these more Hollywood
05:50appearance-type situations as his wrestling career gets later into its stages.
05:55I think this is a great progression.
05:57He's a multi-talented individual.
05:59He's always done great stuff, whether it's in the ring or on the screen, small or large
06:03screen.
06:03You know, even if something simple, when VH1 and MTV and those channels had those best
06:10of the 90s, best of the 80s things, he was always great on those as well.
06:13He really does know how to captivate an audience, and he's been doing it for decades.
06:17So this is just one more thing.
06:18Now, in the movie, he's going to portray a bounty hunter simply named The Hunter, which is kind
06:23of cool, but it says the synopsis of the story reveals that the movie is about the middle
06:27school children searching for a lost pet who end up trapping a werewolf who turns out to
06:32be more than just a creature.
06:35The kids are pursued by Jericho's character as well as something even more sinister.
06:39I don't know how that's going to turn out.
06:41I don't know if it's going to be a phenomenal movie or not, but I'd love to see that Chris
06:44Jericho is getting involved in something beyond the wrestling world because, let's be honest,
06:48no matter how much he can still go, and I do think he can still go in the ring, at
06:52some
06:52point, you know, father time catches up to all of us, and it's just a matter of time
06:56before he's going to have to start taking some other, dabbling in some other ventures in
07:01his lifetime if he's going to keep himself relevant and current and obviously have the
07:05kind of following that I'm sure he probably still wants to have.
07:08From there, let's get into conversation about Crown Jewel briefly.
07:12We reported yesterday that Crown Jewel is going to be doing a lot of remote satellite distribution
07:16because of the increased threat level going to Saudi Arabia.
07:20Now, the talent and the crew have all arrived in Saudi Arabia.
07:23Everybody got there safely.
07:24So the arrival is fine, but now we're being told that the announce team is not in Saudi
07:30Arabia.
07:30They're also going to be doing announcing remotely.
07:32And so you wonder, you know, is there going to be any kind of delay?
07:35Well, it turns out what they're going to do is the thing we spoke of yesterday, the sound
07:41engineering, video engineering, they're going to blast the signal back to corporate offices
07:45where there's going to be a delay between live time and when it gets sent out to all of us
07:50so that they can put in the commentary so they can, you know, spiff things up, make it look
07:54the way they want it to look.
07:56I think it's a good idea.
07:57I really do.
07:58As long as they can keep that feed going and keep it looking good, I'm okay with this.
08:02My only concern is this, and this may sound strange, if this goes over really well, is
08:06this going to be one of those things where they stop sending announcers to other shows because
08:09they could do this, you know, easier, save on travel, all that kind of stuff?
08:12I don't know.
08:13We'll have to wait and see.
08:13Okay, let's get into some other news for the day.
08:15Kane, Glenn Jacobs, he was the mayor of Knox County.
08:20Now, conversation has risen because the post-election fallout, you know, we just had an election
08:25this past week, that Tennessee is looking for a new senator in the next election, and
08:31it was thought that Pete Hegseth, who is currently in the Trump administration, would be the lead
08:36person on the Republican Party to take that seat.
08:38Sounds like that's not the case now.
08:40Now, and instead, it is Glenn Jacobs, who is the favorite to be the next Republican Tennessee
08:46senator.
08:47Not a lot of pro wrestling people have made it that far in politics, if he makes it.
08:52I mean, no matter where you fall politically, I'm not trying to, like, push any kind of political
08:56narrative.
08:56Anybody who knows me knows I'm kind of a center guy anyways.
08:59Anyways, but I find it wildly interesting that, you know, people like Jesse Venturek, Glenn
09:04Jacobs, even Bob Backlund for a while tried to dabble into the political world, Linda
09:07McMahon.
09:08There's some of these people who got, you know, such a presence in the pro wrestling world
09:11then transitioning into politics.
09:14Fascinating to me, especially as a social studies teacher, which is what I do during my
09:17day job.
09:18So I'll be curious to see how that plays out for him.
09:20I don't know if he'll get elected.
09:21He'll get a blue wave like he had the other day.
09:22I don't think he's going to get elected.
09:23But if he does get elected, you know, I guess more power to Kane, you know, trying to take
09:28on a civic role.
09:29No matter how you feel about the political party or whatever, I always love to see people
09:33try to engage in their country and in their government.
09:36I think that's a beautiful thing, a way to be a good citizen.
09:39Let's just put it that way.
09:41Move on.
09:42Some of the big news of the day that broke, the Creed brothers, apparently their contract
09:45has expired.
09:46They are gone from WWE.
09:48Their profiles are moved over to the alumni section on WWE.com.
09:51So here's the thing for me with the Creeds.
09:54The backstage word is that nobody was surprised.
09:56Everybody knew their contracts were coming due.
09:58They thought after they got done with the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic that they were
10:01going to be leaving.
10:02I understand all that because it all adds up and it makes sense.
10:05What I don't understand is how in heaven's name did WWE mess up the Creeds this bad?
10:10I mean, Julius and Brutus are incredibly talented.
10:13They have the amateur background to back it up.
10:15Do they struggle on the microphone?
10:16Maybe.
10:17I wouldn't know.
10:18It's not like you give them an opportunity to speak.
10:20Like, almost ever, you put them with Chad Gable for the longest time and Ivy Nile and people
10:23like that.
10:24I haven't gotten to hear them try to cut a promo in forever.
10:27But what I do know is when they're in the ring, they are an incredibly talented tag team.
10:31And I'm really shocked that WWE has dropped the ball so terribly with this tag team.
10:36This was like, you know, World's Greatest Tag Team Part 2.
10:40You know, this could have been something.
10:42And instead, another great tag team walks out the door.
10:45Now, listen, I'm going to be honest with you.
10:46I don't think Tony Khan should swoop up every single person that gets released by WWE.
10:51But I do think that this one is worth it.
10:54I think this is one that makes a lot of sense.
10:57So for me, Tony Khan, if you're listening, which I highly doubt, but if you are listening
11:02or if somebody is and you get the word to Tony, I'd hire Brutus and Julius because I think
11:06they have a much better chance of having a great hard-hitting style, some high work rate.
11:11This could be some really skilled matches that can go on with these guys if you put
11:15them with the right people.
11:16I just feel like WWE never knew what to do with them, which, again, is shocking to me.
11:20They're American Alpha Part 2 also.
11:22Like, there's so much you could have done.
11:24They never got the opportunity on the main roster to do that.
11:27They did great in NXT their first run.
11:28So I really thought they were going to go further in the tag team classic too.
11:32And then they didn't.
11:32And that was the big indicator to me that they were probably on their way out.
11:36Now, I don't know what's going on with Ivy Nile because her contract was supposed to run
11:39out as well, but her pages and things haven't been moved to the alumni section yet.
11:43Maybe they will if they don't negotiate a new contract.
11:46But at least for now, the Creed brothers are gone.
11:49They're the only talent I've heard of today being released.
11:51I know over the last two months, they've released so many WWE ID people.
11:55It's kind of ridiculous.
11:56And other people who are rumored to be coming in haven't.
11:58People like Richard Holiday and people like that.
12:01So definitely some shakeups in the WWE locker room from different talent that they don't see
12:06the value in keeping anymore.
12:08So we'll have to see how that plays out for the Creed brothers.
12:10Where do they land next?
12:11Is it TNA?
12:12Is it AEW?
12:13Do they do over to Japan?
12:14I think they'd be great in Japan too.
12:16But then again, I don't know what their perspective is.
12:18These are some really, you know, incredible amateur wrestlers who picked up their pro wrestling
12:23skills.
12:23They do some crazy moves.
12:25I'd like to see them continue that journey.
12:27Let's just hope we get to see them somewhere.
12:30Moving over to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
12:31They have announced that New Japan Pro Wrestling America, their American subsidiary, is being
12:36shut down.
12:37They're ceasing operations and liquidating.
12:39Not that they are leaving North America in terms of New Japan Pro Wrestling, but just
12:43the fact that they're going to shut down that branch of the company.
12:46And then from there on, they're going to have shows that are going to be backed by their
12:49ownership.
12:49And I guess they're going to fall under the category of just general New Japan Pro Wrestling,
12:53not a separate WWE or WWE, wow, a separate American subsidiary.
12:58So that is shutting down.
13:00Not sure when we're going to see another tour for them through the United States.
13:03I know they do quite well with tickets here.
13:06You know, with as little video distribution as they have in the U.S., they do quite well
13:10here.
13:10So I'm kind of sad to see that brand go.
13:13But, you know, as long as they're going to keep running matches here, I'm okay with
13:16it.
13:16Gets American fans able to see their talent in first part, you know, right at the shows
13:22that hopefully one day are going to make some dalliances into AEW or WWE.
13:27But for now, the closure of NJPW America is in the immediate future.
13:33Moving on to Nia Jax in the news because she had an interview where she talked about what
13:39her plans are long term.
13:41And, you know, nobody wrestles forever.
13:42And I hate to say it this way.
13:44It sounds so sexist.
13:44But like, especially in the women's division, you know, they're held to a standard.
13:48It's completely unfair.
13:49You know, if you doubt that, just take a look at what Medusa was able to do when she
13:55came back for the first Evolution pay-per-view.
13:57These ladies can go.
13:58Their talent level is just as good as the guys is.
14:01But Nia already talked about post-wrestling career.
14:04She mentioned that she would like to be a coach.
14:06She enjoys that thought process.
14:08Now, the only problem I have with that is she's never really hit me as being like a world
14:13beater technician.
14:14So I don't know what her qualifications would be to think that she'd be a great coach.
14:17But, I mean, look, if she could do the job, more power to her.
14:20I do like that in the interview, she also mentioned how she's a part of the bloodline,
14:23that if the bloodline ever need her, they've got Naomi, they've got her, they've got Tamina.
14:27If they ever come knocking, they'll be by their side.
14:29But technically, she's a part of the bloodline, but just not on TV.
14:33She mentioned the huge graphic they used before WrestleMania 40.
14:37I thought that was a pretty cool part of the interview.
14:38I really did.
14:39I love that she, you know, gave the call back to being a part of the family.
14:42That was pretty cool.
14:43But, yeah, she wants to be a coach.
14:44Don't know how that's going to work out, but we'll have to keep our eyes on that.
14:46And then, big news coming out today that Rey Mysterio, who is the general manager of AAA,
14:52we know The Undertaker books AAA, that they have put together something that I think a lot of wrestling fans
14:57have been waiting several years for.
14:59At WWE Survivor Series, yes, we are going to get two of our War Games matches,
15:05but more importantly to me, we're going to get what Survivor Series was meant to be.
15:09Teams of five that strive to survive.
15:12That was what it was originally, and we're going to get a traditional five-on-five Survivor Series elimination match,
15:18and it will be Team Mexico versus Team USA, and that was announced by Rey Mysterio on the Stephanie McMahon
15:25Tell Us Your Story podcast,
15:26and it was put out on all their shows, you know, starting tonight with SmackDown and others.
15:31So, very interesting stuff.
15:33I'm not sure who's going to be on which team.
15:35I would imagine you're going to see, you know, the absolute, you'll probably see El Grande Americano,
15:41you'll see Dominic Mysterio, you'll see stuff like that.
15:44But I'm really hoping that we get a chance to see some of the real AAA luchadors put on display.
15:49The Wagner Brothers, you know, La Parca, people like that.
15:54Mecca Wolf, I would love to see, you know, those people who don't get the WWE matches very often.
16:00I'm sure we'll probably see Mr. Iguana.
16:03And then who are they going to pick from the U.S.?
16:04Not sure.
16:05We'll have to wait and see that as well.
16:06I suspect maybe Chad Gable.
16:08Maybe you do the Penta and Phoenix on the Mexico team and have Gable on the American team.
16:12I don't know.
16:13But I'm just excited that we're going to get a five-on-five traditional match
16:16because that's something I feel like really Survivor Series has been lacking for many, many years.
16:21That's something that was always a staple of the show.
16:23And they got away from it when they started doing war games, which I understand war games.
16:26I love war games.
16:27I just really would like to have seen more five-on-five matches,
16:31which is what was originally meant to be for Survivor Series.
16:34Tell me what you think, though.
16:35In the comments down below, let me know what you think.
16:38Who would you put on Team USA?
16:40Who would you put on Team Mexico?
16:42When it comes to the Creed Brothers, where do you think they're headed next?
16:45And how do you feel about the fact that Crown Jewel,
16:48you're going to have the announcers doing their job remotely,
16:51all the engineering being done remotely, but the talent still has to go there?
16:55If it's safe enough for the talent, why isn't everybody going?
16:57And if everybody's not going, doesn't that tell you that it's not safe enough for the talent?
17:00Tell me what you think in the comments down below.
17:02I'd love to hear what your thoughts are.
17:04But for now, that's all the time we have for this episode.
17:06Check back with us next episode.
17:07We'll run down the latest wrestling news and rumors.
