00:12um the stadium was absolutely on fire on sunday and i think it will be even more so
00:18at least early in the game thursday i think the defense was awesome um and look i've been wrong
00:26on a couple things everybody's been wrong on a couple things but i think we way overreacted
00:30the week one now it was so bad right that it was easy to do that but you got to
00:35credit everybody
00:35involved um i'll be starting with the coaching staff and the quarterback you know for for bouncing
00:41back and and all of a sudden like this is a huge huge game and there's reason to think that
00:48they
00:48can win it the defense has played well enough that there's reason to think they can win every week
00:51they play the shaky quarterback and there's a lot of those on the schedule all right zach obviously
00:57some of the film study has not been great for deshaun watson but we've seen him in fourth quarters
01:04just making big plays and you look around the league there were 12 one score games on sunday
01:11sometimes can't that be enough just putting together a few drives late in games when you have a good
01:16defense to try to win a game the way that there's this much parity in the league yeah with this
01:21defense it can be enough you know they got out gained by more than 100 yards and they had almost
01:26100 yards and penalties but i didn't think that it was fluky because the defense was that good
01:32right and and they got the ball twice in the fourth quarter before this is before the madness and they
01:37went down and got points like denzel boston had no catches and then they got him the ball and those
01:41plays were huge so um todd munkin has stuck his neck out for deshaun watson quite obviously and and so
01:49far
01:49are the results say he's two and one but more than anything else since the spring he's been saying
01:54look guys in today's nfl you run scramble drill more than you run any play that you draw up whether
02:00it's a good play a bad play called at the right time called at the wrong time and um there
02:06were
02:06two in tampa i think munkin said one was a designed run and then of course third and three last
02:11week
02:11and then the game winner you know he steps up he makes the guy miss and then he starts to
02:16take off
02:16and he sees fan and he throws a ball right there so yeah it's it's been timely it's been great
02:22um
02:23you know overall like the film doesn't lie but neither do the results so um you know i i don't
02:31know what the ending of this is going to be and i thought the guy was completely broken and i
02:37thought
02:37there was a ton of evidence that supported that but he seems to be coming around at least a little
02:41bit at a time and so like yeah you look you look at that and you look at the schedule
02:47and you think
02:47well if they could ever get that yard when they need to get the yard by running or clean up
02:52the
02:52penalties like why couldn't this thing continue to be competitive well zach you know i apparently
02:58lima and i caught hell uh for being excited about the performance and i said well it was a really
03:05good
03:05fourth quarter uh and i think a lot of us are kind of getting ahead of ourselves either good or
03:09bad
03:10like there's a lot of people who do not want to see him on this team next year there's a
03:14lot of
03:14people who do want to see him on this team next year and i'm going guys it's it's late september
03:18i i
03:19don't know if we can start to draw any conclusions there i don't think the haslams are drawing any
03:22conclusions there yeah the chances that he's on this team next year remain slim and frankly the chances
03:30that he's the quarterback around the bye week probably remain slim but like the they're winning
03:37you know he's he's getting a little bit better and we'll see i i don't want to rate the inning
03:43i feel
03:44like it'll end up a little like the josh gordon thing where it's like wow that was a wild ride
03:47but
03:47was it really worth it um and look there's always going to be awkwardness with this the browns signed
03:53up for that five years ago they've re-signed up for it now we we've all had to accept that
03:57and
03:57everyone has accepted that except a few weirdos on the internet but like the fourth quarter results
04:05have been good and this offense really does have room to grow so um you know he's got to quit
04:13throwing the ball right to the other team because eventually they're going to be caught but like
04:16the fourth quarter is throwing it right to his guys so um you know it's it's confounding but it so
04:23far it's worked zach jackson with us uh from the athletic also has this terrific podcast so
04:29one of the things that i think has been pretty evident is that right now what they draw up isn't
04:35necessarily been effective when it comes to the running game and you know the typical pass plays
04:42the way that he's been successful is when things break down and then he runs out so that's why
04:48it's easy to question uh you know what's the sustainability of something like this is this
04:53something they can improve on or is that just going to be the way this goes well i would say
04:59that three games in i'm way more surprised that they can't get two yards when they line up and run
05:04it than i am that he runs around for occasionally three or 21 yards right like i thought that this
05:10would be a buttoned up offense and that quenchon judkins would have a level of success and i knew
05:15the offensive line would need time right but i thought like running right at people would be the way
05:19that they kind of grew together and gained that chemistry and that hasn't been the case at all
05:23so we don't know what's sustainable about that and it's not like he's been super fast but he's been
05:31elusive and guys have gotten open and you're right like way more freelance plays than just drawn up
05:38now i do think they don't win the tampa game without boston making just a couple of catches
05:43kind of what i call the easy button catches that haven't been there the last couple of years
05:46but yeah i mean they went they got three yards in the third quarter on sunday and then all of
05:51a
05:51sudden they were able to throw the ball down the field again so they have to run it they probably
05:56have to be better in getting some of those layups and keeping the defense off the field but like
06:02if mason graham and those guys are in the backfield all the time and you look at the quarterbacks on
06:08this schedule then like they will be in games even if the offense doesn't get any better and you would
06:15think the offense will get better so we'll see are you surprised by mason graham's start this year
06:23i mean in terms of four sacks and three games yes but right early from training camp like he just
06:27looked like a more confident player like a guy who who knows he belongs here now so um you know
06:34the
06:34defense has had two games behind him and he's been consistently back there i mean what was it 34
06:40four pressures they had against bryce young like you you're gonna win now i think the panthers
06:45actually had almost that many on watch now he only had 30 pass attempts but like you're gonna win
06:53when you do that and and the defensive effort was eventually validated well not only that i mean you
07:00were down a corner we were wondering how thin they were going to be and what their margin for error
07:06is
07:06and i thought yeah they gave up yards but you're making sure to get those stops only allowing field
07:12goals then eventually that pass rush probably soften that blow of missing a starting corner
07:19i agree like they've been adaptable right what they did in week one didn't work and some of that was
07:23just jacksonville just came out and just attacked them and turned that into such a route right away
07:27but you know they don't move denzel ward around denzel ward over the last four seasons has played like
07:3393 percent in the same exact spot and guess what he did on sunday he moved when he had to
07:38you know grandel but no practice at all out there playing my high blackman on the team since like august
07:4429th out there playing and guarding tethero mcmillan so it's worked it's worked for them sam williams not
07:51on the team till september 1st you know in the backfield so i gotta credit those guys and rutenberg
07:57and all that and like probably on thursday i mean you never know in a brown steelers thursday night game
08:03but probably on thursday it's 13 to 10 just punt and if carolina just punts on sunday maybe
08:09everything's different but why couldn't this defense go out and give them a chance to win again
08:13were you surprised that they went for it on fourth and one no i wasn't and obviously the result wasn't
08:20great but i i totally understand the thinking there um now i i don't necessarily love it and
08:26obviously you'd like to convert it but i think that that was kind of todd's personality right there in
08:32one play if you can't get one yard you don't deserve to win the defense just bailed them out
08:35again and they won and all is right in the world at least until thursday night will tyson campbell
08:40play thursday night you think i think so i think that he was close to playing last week they just
08:45decided not not to risk it um you know he warmed up after the weather delay in tampa and was
08:52moving
08:53around and then he didn't go back in and then he went through a little bit of practice but they
08:57added
08:58that second injury hip to the ankle so uh i think it's just going to be you know a pain
09:03tolerance
09:03thing um the center to me is a big deal like a really really really big deal because the drop

09:10is significant there and the line was already struggling for answers so especially in a situation
09:15where you're getting like an hour of real practice this week and playing the steelers um if elton jenkins
09:21can't go and we're assuming he's not we don't know that for sure that's going to be a big blow

09:26that's something that'll show up as the game goes on is pittsburgh still pittsburgh with their front
09:31seven it's much the same personnel it's the highest paid defense in the league um i watched a little
09:39bit of the game yesterday i thought rogers looks he looks like a totally different guy than last
09:42december when he was just in here just throwing it away so now he'll get greedy with it and he

09:48doesn't move great because he's 59 years old uh but yeah the personnel on their front seven is almost
09:53all the same and you know you you get they go for that avalanche you let them get one they'll

09:59you down so watcher just hasn't gone to the ground what was it the second play of the game
10:02trevon mooring comes and wraps him up and he spins away and makes the play you know and then like

10:07think the next pass should have been a pick six it was dropped but he keeps dodging these guys guys
10:12get open and the results have been fine joey porter jr what's his uh future over there in pittsburgh
10:17he had his first full practice yesterday now i don't know if that means he's going to play
10:22because he's been at least limited practice but it's quite a saga it's very unstealers like isn't
10:27it um but yeah obviously that would be a big deal if he's in there and can go for for
10:32much of the
10:33game uh what do you make right now just three games into the season of this division now that
10:39you know the browns actually got off to a good start we could pay attention to other teams
10:44yeah uh i think this becomes a huge game especially because you play the steelers again in four weeks
10:49uh the ravens won on kind of a miracle and you know they gave that game away to new orleans
10:57if the bangles play defense and burrows healthy then they can beat anybody uh will they win enough
11:02to win the division with this coaching staff and all that i i don't know um but nobody thought that
11:09everybody would be two and one after three games it's only three games but that makes it fun and um
11:14you know there's only been one this is only the second division game on the calendar
11:18on thursday night so that'll be fun and we'll know a lot more i think after the next two just
11:23for the
11:23browns this was always a huge game right if they were 0-3 it was huge uh but because they've
11:30won
11:30it's become bigger and again like you play the titans before you play this you play the jets before you
11:36play the steelers again like they have a chance this has the chance to be a first of many very
11:40big
11:41division games and if you're going to have any kind of season you got to win your division games
11:44at home so tomlin was so bad he kind of made it a freebie for the browns the last few
11:49years i don't
11:49know how new they are i i you know i watched two quarters so far um but like i feel
11:56like in a low
11:56scoring game with where the defenses will probably dominate that either team can win

13:24first time on the field and monkey gets up there and isn't going over details of the game and

13:43coming in at 439 ohio state coming in at number two but i found it interesting right now mount union
