03:29because we watch all of his snaps repeatedly, but just look at the stats.
03:33He is tied for the lead in touchdowns thrown.
03:36He's leading in touchdown percentage.
03:39What percent of your throws go for touchdowns?
03:41He's first in average air yards per attempt and quarterback rating,
03:47and his sack percentage is 0.00.
03:50So if you want to look at all of the things in which he leads the league,
03:54there's a number of them, and also there's 3-0.
03:57So hard to look at him and say he's not the dude.

08:07Like, he's easily, easily been the most discussed player in the NFL, in a national NFL media environment.

08:21And, you know, Josh Allen has always talked about a lot.
08:24And even with yesterday, yesterday's game, he threw two picks.

08:32And Josh Allen, if you look at the all-time list in the NFL of rushing touchdowns, he, I think
08:39he just went by Marshawn Lynch.
08:40He's now, he's closing in on 100 rushing touchdowns.
08:45He's going to, when he retires, he might go down as second or third all-time in rushing touchdowns.
08:50And he's a quarterback.
08:51It's ridiculous how potent he is with his legs.
08:54And you mentioned other candidates for the dude who is that dude right now through three weeks.
09:00And Derrick Henry is off to an amazing start.
09:03And also, Kenneth Walker III landing in Kansas City and turning that team into a completely dynamic offense.

09:27And statistically, I would say, I mean, Purdy is ahead of both of them.
09:32Allen is certainly there.
09:34Mahomes, because of the presence of Walker, his numbers are nice.
09:38But they're not quite as gaudy because the Chiefs have been running the ball down people's throats.
09:43And Walker's been awesome.
09:45But those are the guys right now.
09:47And it doesn't matter if you've got Purdy in the one hole or the three hole or the five hole
09:52or whatever.
09:52He's a superstar.
09:53He's an absolute superstar right now in this league.
10:00And the Niners' offense is doing so many of the things that people have asked it to do, which is,

10:56about the injuries.
10:57And then the other half of the call, I want to use to talk about a couple points made from
11:02the game
11:02and then drop a little bit of trivia on you, if that's okay.

11:09Well, basically, the Morning Rose has a phone line called the Sound Off.

11:15You may know that.
11:16And I called them a couple weeks ago, and basically, I was losing my mind.
11:19When the scribbling injuries and him and his teammates happened, I was losing my mind.
11:23Could not go through it again.
11:25Could not go through another year of injuries like in 2025.
11:28Can't play with them.
11:29Can't win with them.
11:31Can't do it.
11:32So, even yesterday.
11:34Can't say, oh, thanks.
11:36As the Niners, they pulled out a win that was kind of on the thrilling side.
11:40May not have been so thrilling if all the guys hadn't gone down.
11:43But I'm still troubled by all the carnage from the game.

11:47I mean, we ended up with, at least I was more troubled earlier today.
11:51But now we've gotten better news on Evans.
11:53And then Trill Williams went down.
11:54He came back on the sideline.

12:08I want to highlight, real quick, two plays from Purdy.
12:12Which, when we talk about Purdy's career after it's over, we're going to look back on all the different things
12:16he's done.
12:16And these two plays won't even be included because they didn't technically count.
12:19His jump throw out of bounds to Farrell, of course, which you guys are talking about.
12:23And, of course, the late scramble, which was waved off by Kittle's alleged holding penalty, which, in hindsight, looks like
12:29Kittle did that to help his fantasy football owners.
12:31But I digress.
12:35And the last point I'll make, there's a little bit of trivia.
12:39Jacoby Bursette threw 52 passes last night, which are his second most in his entire career, behind the 50-70
12:44through last season against the 49ers.
12:46And then I'm seeing the box score with Deebo Samuel having zero receptions for 80 yards.
12:51It looks so off.
12:52And maybe think a little bit about baseball.
12:54And it turns out that there's a record of three RBI for someone with no official at-bats.
12:59And David Ortiz shares that record.

13:41He's an option in all kinds of, you know, sort of different ways in the pass game and in the
13:48run game.
13:49Deebo Samuel this year has nine receptions.
13:53Gosh, where's his target list, though?
13:57I need to get this.
14:00Deebo has been targeted this year 11 times.
14:03Which I guess, actually, that's a rather high number considering that he had none yesterday.
14:08So, I guess it was five and a half a game for the first two weeks.
14:11Yeah, and a couple of carries yesterday.
14:12And if you look at, like, McCaffrey's got 17 targets.
14:15You've got 16 for Kittle, 16 for Evans, 11 for Deebo.
14:20This is exactly what Shanahan wants.
14:22If you go back to the last time they went to the Super Bowl, the targets and the catches were
14:27equally distributed between Deebo and Ayuk and McCaffrey and Kittle.
14:31And I think that this, honestly, is what Shanahan wants.
14:34And, yeah, you want Demarcus Robinson healthy so he can be a part of the committee as well.
14:39But he wants to share the load, and that's what they've done so far.
14:42No question about it.
14:43And fun fact, Deebo Samuel has more receiving yards than Mike Evans so far this year.

14:48Yeah, considering how good Evans has been.

14:54Like, to me, maybe that's what these three games have been for Brock Purdy, the fans, the narrative, and the
15:03discussion around him.
15:04I think for a long time there was the whole draftism thing.
15:10It was well before this year that the majority of football watchers, certainly, in my opinion, those who are being
15:18fair and know what they're watching, they got to a point where they're like, Brock's good.
15:23Brock's good.
15:24But I think that this year what it feels like is Brock's a superstar.
15:30You comfortable with that word?
15:32Sure.
15:33I mean, it's just a word.
15:34Well, no, it's not.
15:36It has meaning in sports.
15:38It does, but you can be a superstar.
15:41And in football, if you're the quarterback and you're the superstar, well, then you have to continue to go out
15:46there and be good.
15:48Like Justin Herbert, I think you could look at a year or even two ago and say, well, he's a
15:54superstar.
15:55Maybe he's a superstar in the making.
15:56And since then, he has struggled and they struggle.
16:00And now, all of a sudden, that team is in disarray.
16:03So, I don't know.
16:04You look at Mahomes.
16:06He's a superstar.
16:07And you can't un-mint that.
16:09No, for sure.
16:10He's going to get to a spot where his career will be over.
16:12He'll decline, et cetera.
16:13But Brock Purdy is in a spot where, yes, he's a superstar.

16:18Like, I get what you're saying, and I think you're right.
16:20The Mahomes thing, you get to a certain spot where you've achieved enough to where now it's like we can't
16:25take the label from you.
16:26But Herbert, they wanted to give him the label, and now people are taking it away from him.
16:30Brock is in the same spot.
16:31He can't go through a prolonged three-year period of mediocrity or suckage and be 0-3, largely when the
16:39team around you is healthy.
16:40And with, you know, an accomplished coach and an accomplished offensive coordinator and all of these things, you can't do
16:47that.
16:48So, I'm with you.
16:49The label can get taken away, but it's there for now.
16:52It's there.
16:53He's a superstar.
16:54Look at him.
16:56Look at these numbers.
16:57This is out of control.
16:59It's actually the opposite.
17:00It's totally under control.
17:01That's how he looks.
17:02He's in total control of the football game right now.
17:04Well, and even at yesterday's game, and you look at the numbers, 15 for 27, not terrific, and 297.
17:12Well, 82 of those came on the hook and lateral.
17:15So, beyond that, he had about 200 yards elsewhere, but four touchdowns.
17:20And you look at what he's able to do with his legs, effectively rushing two times for 34 yards.
17:28One of them was a touchdown run.
17:30One of them got called back because of a hold.
17:32He's making the plays that are necessary.
17:34He's playing winning football.
17:36Yeah, and I'm not going to get too in the weeds on a day of completion percentage, especially because he
17:43went 20 of 22 last week.
17:45His individual game QB rating yesterday was 133.8.
17:50That's off the charts.
17:51So, he was phenomenal yesterday.
17:53When you have four touchdown passes, you don't turn the ball over.
17:56You average 11 yards per attempt.
17:59Those are beyond elite numbers.
18:02And the numbers are padded by the 82-yard play.
18:05Yeah, but that's life in the NFL.
18:07You know what I mean?
18:09We don't do that when Josh Allen dumps the ball to James Cook and he takes off.
18:14That's part of football.
18:15You get those.
18:16Patrick Mahomes gets those.
18:18Everybody gets those.

20:49I want to give as much credit to Mike as Brock.
20:52Because Evans did something so subtle on that play.
20:55That turned it into a touchdown.
20:57Which is, he just kept his arms right by his side until the ball was there.
21:01The defender never had a chance to realize the ball was coming.
21:03It zips right over his head.
21:05If he had put his arms up, he totally would have blocked it.
21:08But he had no idea the ball was coming.
21:09And that's credit to Evans on that.
21:11That's what makes him a Hall of Fame receiver.

21:15Because having read the transcript from Shanahan today.
21:18And he said, yeah, Evans ran a sluggo and stuff.

21:22And you watch the replay.
21:23Evans does a quick little move off the line.

21:27And immediately cuts it right back out and gets behind the defender.
21:30And that's what made it so Brock could just throw that up pitch and catch.

22:02But one thing that is apparent to me is when you look at people like Trevor Lawrence specifically, you know,

22:11But he needed the right coach to make him look good.
22:13And, you know, Liam Cohen is obviously a great quarterback and unlocked Trevor Lawrence.
22:17But Brock Purdy, to me, I feel like he could actually work with any head coach.
22:24Now, obviously, the synergy is there being with Shanahan.
22:26But Brock Purdy is almost getting to the point where it doesn't matter who you would pair him with from
22:32a head coach standpoint.
22:33I do feel like he would be successful.
22:36And that, to me, is what makes a superstar.
22:38That's what makes a Lamar Jackson or, you know, a Buffalo Bills quarterback.
