00:03I'm extremely humbled and honoured to be a finalist for South Australia
00:08in the inaugural Australian Agricultural Awards
00:11in the category of Safety and Wellbeing.
00:14Coming from one of South Australia's oldest farming families,
00:17I have a deep understanding and connection to agriculture.
00:21The thing about safety is, it's not a sexy topic.
00:24Too many people run away from safety and compliance, then run towards it.
00:28Through my time in this industry, what we've really seen
00:31is that people wait until an incident happens.
00:34They wait until a regulator gets involved,
00:36or they wait until someone gets hurt before they act on doing something.
00:40In establishing Ingham & Co., I wanted to change that narrative.
00:44Through education, awareness, and support,
00:47we're helping businesses feel more confident
00:49and understand what their responsibilities are
00:52so they can adopt workplace health and safety
00:54through their day-to-day operations.
00:56Our approach has always been about boots on the ground.
01:00It's important to understand a business,
01:02where they are at in their environment.
01:04Giving back to ag is at the very foundation of who we are.
01:08Be it our free on-farm safety and compliance reviews,
01:12workshops, and resources,
01:14we're creating opportunities for people to make a start
01:17on that safety and compliance journey.
01:19We understand that we can have a much greater impact
01:22by working together.
01:23By working with industry groups and bodies,
01:26together we can share knowledge, resources, and awareness
01:30to create this much-needed change around safety and compliance.
01:34I'm always looking for how I can have a greater impact.
01:37That's why I established Safe Farms SA,
01:40an industry-driven, not-for-profit advocacy
01:43to support South Australian farmers.
01:45This nomination represents so much more than my own journey.
01:49It's about the commitments and the sacrifices
01:52that the team behind Ingham & Co. have also made.
01:55The long days, the travel, the time away from their family
01:59in order to support the industry and the businesses
02:02wherever they need us.
02:04This recognition is another opportunity
02:06to keep the conversation going
02:07because real change begins when people are prepared to engage,
02:11ask questions, and make sure that we all get home safe every night.
