00:00G'day, I'm Tim Haslam. I farm at Poppinning in the great southern of West Australia
00:04in partnership with my wife, son and daughter-in-law. We farm about 5,500 hectares,
00:11of which 4,000 hectares is in crop and the other country is carrying Reno ewes.
00:17I've been nominated in the Farm Safety and Wellbeing category. In December of 2023,
00:24I suffered 38% burns to my body following a head of fire. About 12 months later,
00:31I gave a talk to a first responders group in Narrogen, which involved fire, brigade, police and
00:37ambulance. As a consequence of that, I've been asked to do quite a few other talks,
00:42just telling people about the mistakes I made, which were quite simple. And I've spoken to fire
00:49brigades, chamber of commerce, lions groups, ag schools, and just trying to get the message
00:57about farm safety, particularly fire. And just trying to tell people that if they just think
01:06a little bit ahead, they can change a lot. Everyone thinks it won't happen to them,
01:12but it happens in an instant and it'll change your life forever.
