00:00Sean Taylor will go down as one of the greatest University of Miami and one of the greatest people I've
00:06ever known.
00:07I helped recruit this man for Butch Davis back in the day.
00:11Truly one of the greatest people you'll ever see.
00:14Would have been a first ballot Hall of Famer, maybe unanimous.
00:18I've never seen a football player at our program this talented.
00:22And when he went to Washington, Washington just embraced him.
00:27Sean Taylor is loved to this day by our program and by programs all around the country.
00:34I want to tell you a story here that's not really known.
00:37I played football with a guy by the name of George Meyer at the University of Miami.
00:41He became an EMT guy.
00:43I get a call one night.
00:45Dan, I'm at Sean Taylor's house.
00:48I said, great, put him on.
00:51He's dying.
00:53And I said, what?
00:55He said, he's bleeding in front of me.
00:58A home invader had broken into the home.
01:01Andy Garcia's niece, he and her were expecting a child.
01:06And he was bleeding there, dying to death.
01:09And he said, tell all my Cain's brothers I love them.
01:14That never left me.
01:16I lost Jerome Brown years and years ago.
01:19And Sean Taylor is another one.
01:22I couldn't believe I'm on the phone with George Meyer Jr., who was there on site.
01:29I'm on the phone.
01:30And his Hurricane family was there with him when he made his last breath.
01:37He's one of the greatest people I've ever known.
01:40He's one of the greatest football players that's ever lived.
01:43The legacy that he's left behind.
01:46You know, people always say, people, how they remember you when you're not here and how they talk about you
01:51behind your back is how people really think of you.
01:56I've never heard anyone say anything negative about a man who was always outgoing.
02:01He'd be in Liberty City or Overtown down in South Florida, helping underprivileged kids, doing all those things behind the
02:08scenes, never looking for the camera.
02:11You know, when the camera's not on you and you're out helping, those are the people that make the biggest
02:17impact in people's lives.
02:18And that's why you're remembered.
02:20Sean Taylor will always be remembered in our Hurricane Brotherhood as one of the absolutely most important people, not just
02:30players, but people we've ever known.
02:35Ever since he put that U on, it's just been no one forgets him.
02:42Everyone embraces him.
02:44I get calls still to this day from the Washington commanders.
02:48Dan, can you say a couple things about Sean Taylor?
02:53In recruiting him, I remember how easy it was recruiting him to Miami.
02:58Butch wanted me to get on.
02:59Butch Davis wanted me to get on the horn with him, and we did.
03:02Ed Ogeron, too, was helping in the recruiting process.
03:06I said, hey, we'd love to have you.
03:07He goes, don't have to say another word, man.
03:09I want to join the greatest brotherhood of all time.
03:12And that's the University of Miami.
03:14When you're a Hurricane, we always say this to people, it's a Canes thing.
03:21You'll never understand it.
03:25That's the kind of people we had in our brotherhood.
03:29Started with Jerome all the way to Sean.
03:33These guys were electric.
03:35These guys were memorable.
03:38All these type of players that we've had in our program, that's what makes it the greatest brotherhood in all
03:44of college sports.
03:46As I mentioned, look at the Hall of Famers that are going in every year.
03:50Coaches.
03:51Players.
03:52Every year, there's a Cane.
03:54Every single year, Sean Taylor would have been on that list.
03:59One of my favorite scenes, I remember back in the day, Sean goes, you see me knock that kid out
04:04at the Pro Bowl?
04:06I'm like, he's a punter, dude.
04:09And he put that kid, I mean, it was one of the greatest.
04:12Everyone, Ed Reed and everyone, to this day, we still laugh at that.
04:15Him knocking that punter out because the guy had said something to him at lunch.
04:20And he goes, yeah, well, I'm going to get that guy.
04:22And it was the Pro Bowl where everybody wasn't taking the game serious.
04:25And he knocked that guy out cold in that game.
04:30Great memories, man.
04:32Now the tears are gone.
04:34Now it's just the memories.
04:35Rest in peace, brother.
04:37No question.
04:38We will always remember number 26.
04:40And we'll always remember Sean Taylor in our hearts.
04:43And this is why the University of Miami still to this day has that chair open for truly one of
04:50the greatest players in the history of our program.
