00:00Hey, John, I got to ask you about Southern Cal.
00:02I am not a Lincoln Riley guy.
00:04If you look at the games that he has lost, he's 6-13 versus top 25 teams.
00:10He's not very good against top 10 teams.
00:13He hasn't really won any legitimate games whatsoever.
00:16And somebody clicked in and tell me, what has he ever won?
00:20He's at Southern Cal going and being a 10-win team.
00:24At Southern Cal, that's why you've got empty seats at the Coliseum.
00:28That's why you're not seeing a lot of people fill those stands.
00:31I mean, you may disagree with me on this, but when does he win a big game?
00:35I think the thing that we need to focus on with Lane Kiffin is,
00:38Lane Kiffin, I'm sorry, with USC is you got to find the defense.
00:44Offense has never been the issue for Lincoln Riley at any point in time.
00:48But they need to get a defensive coordinator at that university
00:52that can put them in a top 20 in defense.
00:55They don't have to be number one.
00:56They don't have to be number 10.
00:58Get in the top 20 on defense, and I guarantee you,
01:02you'll start to see these 10-win seasons for Lincoln Riley.
01:06Listen, I got to push back on this, oh, nobody's in the stands thing.
01:09I will say this, and I'll fight whoever wants to throw hands.
01:15Southern California is a different type of hotbed for sports.
01:19In the South, they love football more than people in Los Angeles.
01:23This is not a debatable topic for me, and it's okay,
01:26because when it comes time to fill it up, it will get filled up.
01:29But in September and in August, there are other things to do in Los Angeles.
01:34And I'm not going to begrudge people who don't live in Oklahoma or Mississippi or Alabama.
01:40Like, these folks in Tuscaloosa, they will die for football.
01:43In California, these folks will die for avocado toast.
01:47It's a different kind of problem.
01:49But here's what I'll say to you on that.
01:52You're right.
01:53There's no question you're right on that.
01:55But that's why Lincoln Riley is also having trouble keeping the local kids to stay at Southern Cal.
02:00Well, yeah.
02:01That's why they're going other places.
02:03John, you're not right.
02:04You're not wrong about the fans going into the stands.
02:07But you don't see Reggie Bush any longer.
02:10You don't see the Matt Liners any longer.
02:12You don't see those kind of players that have gone through USC.
02:15And like you just said about the defensive side of the ball, there's no Troy Palomalos on that team.
02:20You know where those kids are all going?
02:22They're going to the Big Ten.
02:23And they're also going to the Southeastern Conference.
02:26Now, I know USC has just joined the Big Ten.
02:29But they're going to the traditional Big Ten schools now.
02:31Yes, there's no doubt.
02:33USC fans are different than Tuscaloosa fans and Baton Rouge fans.
02:37But the biggest problem that Lincoln Riley has, those kids know that too.
02:41And that's why they're leaving Southern California.
02:43And they're going to the SEC.
02:47Yeah, listen, keeping guys is always going to be difficult in this age of football.
02:51If you're not in the top 10, if you're not fighting and being a CFP,
02:54it's always going to be difficult to hold on to guys when you've recruited.
02:57But now they've got the number one recruiting class in the country.
02:59And let's see what he does with it.
