00:04Greetings, friends. This is Steve Dupuy for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob Thiel,
00:09bringing you news and analysis of world events in light of Bible prophecy. Dr. Thiel,
00:15artificial intelligence is continuing to make headlines more and more often. Does AI pose risks?
00:23Certainly. I saw an article yesterday, headline, AI's greatest threat is biological.
00:31And then in the article it talked about an anthropic researcher who resigned, saying that
00:36people who are putting AI together thinks there's a 10% chance that humanity will be wiped out by it
00:42within three to 10 years, depending on what you say, and others agree with it. But the biggest
00:48threat, the article says, is biological warfare or synthetic biology. And they've said that,
00:55you know, the possibility is going to come that they can come up with a virus that can just
00:59kill living creatures, whether they're vaccinated or not vaccinated. They're not immune to it.
01:06Well, how close is AI to actually creating a true bioweapon risk?
01:11Well, last month, there was a report that AI creates 16 new viruses that never existed in nature
01:19after learning the DNA's pattern from 9 trillion nucleotides. And this was done and associated with
01:28Stanford University. And they looked at all this stuff. And Erica said, look, science has been
01:35synthesizing viruses for decades. Just study them, see if they can help in terms of medical conditions,
01:41etc. But now they can use artificial intelligence to create new viral ones different from no natural
01:49ones. And so they think it's helpful for medical advances. But here's something that the researchers
01:56wrote, quote, the ability to compose viral genomes using generative AI now exists. The governance to
02:04safely steer it does not, end quote. Anyway, that's not a surprise. And it is dangerous.
02:12Furthermore, again, without AI, humans have been working on developing new viruses, you know,
02:16et cetera, for decades.
02:19Isn't all this research into AI viruses really a hopeful step to medical advances for the benefit of
02:25humans?
02:27I mean, presuming COVID came from a lab, that was supposed to be the same kind of a thing.
02:32I also saw a headline that says, what if you have a rogue AI program? We keep reading about AI
02:38programs that aren't doing what they're supposed to do. And somehow, perhaps that can get some kind
02:44of synthetic thing made. And by the way, it's not difficult to turn biological agents into weapons.
02:53Nation's been doing this forever, including the United States. Even though they claim they don't do
02:59biological weapons, they're doing research that can be used for such. You know, Jesus himself warned
03:04that some of the signs at the end would include pestilences. For example, in Matthew 24,
03:12verse 7, Jesus said, there'll be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
03:19All these are the beginning of sorrows. Biological warfare agents, whether AI makes them humans do it,
03:26certainly can be a factor in pestilences. Furthermore, in the sixth chapter of the book
03:32of Revelation, we read about the ride of the fourth horseman of the apocalypse. Revelation 6,
03:38starting in verse 7. He opened the fourth seal. I heard the voice of a fourth living creature say,
03:44come and see. Verse 8. So I looked, and behold, a pale horse, and a name of him who sat
03:51on it was
03:52death. And Hades followed with him. And power was given him over a fourth of the earth to kill with
03:58a sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beast of the earth. So we see the opening of the
04:05four
04:05seals of time, pale horse to death, increasing death by various things. And pestilences, by the way,
04:12would be, include the beast of the earth. Are you suggesting that it's possible that AI developed
04:20pathogens could be part of the pestilences of the ride of the fourth horseman?
04:25Absolutely, yes. And, you know, biological warfare has long been a threat. I'd like to read something
04:32that the late evangelist Raymond McNair wrote back in 1969, Church of God evangelist. He wrote,
04:41the doomsday bug. There is a feverish international search for the ultimate doomsday bug. The purpose?
04:48To wipe out whole nations overnight by germs and chemicals? Will man's unrestrained scientific
04:55search for more horrifying weapons of mass destruction prove to be his undoing?
05:00So he went down to another lab, and they're working on chemical and biological warfare called CBW.
05:07And he saw a lot of frightening possibilities. He said, no, this isn't new to humankind.
05:14For thousands of years, people have used chemical and biological weapons for their enemies.
05:24Until only recently, it's been looked at, how can we do this on a grand scale?
05:28You know, thousands of years ago, humans figured out diabolical uses of poisons to kill rulers
05:36or now numbers of enemies by poisoning their food or water supply.
05:40They used poison arrows in warfare. The article says,
05:44millennia ago, humans learned that they could throw corpses of plague-infected humans over the walls of
05:50besieged cities, causing a terrible plague to ravage this whole city.
05:54And it says, early American settlers traded plague-infected blankets to Native Americans
06:00in the frontier times.
06:03There's been virtually no limits to humans, the diabolical, inventive genius
06:07in the realm of destructive weapons of warfare.
06:12While those uses of CBWs are bad enough,
06:16what is the magnitude of some of the other historical cases of viruses and plagues?
06:22Well, you had the Black Death, the bubonic plague,
06:26which wiped out about a third of Europe.
06:29In certain areas, by the way, three quarters were killed by it.
06:33It affected the population of Britain, too.
06:37But right now, you know, many scientists are looking for new plagues.
06:42And by the way, they can use AI to help them with this.
06:47And even back in the 60s, it said, quote,
06:50quote, in theory, one gram of chicken embryo inoculated with a certain cube fever organism
06:57would be sufficient to infect more than a million people.
07:02And they're talking about other things that were developed during World War II,
07:07so deadly they could wipe out all human life in a given area within six hours of attack.
07:15And going back to the article, it says, you know, few people realize far more people died from pestilence,
07:21from sickness and different plagues than through actual warfare.
07:25You know, 20 million perished from the flu a few months at the close of World War II,
07:32but 50 times that number became ill.
07:36And then another thing this article pointed out is to use chemical biological warfare, CBW,
07:44to destroy the economy before attacking it.
07:48And it said, back in the 60s, the highest award then ever given to a U.S. civilian was awarded
07:53to a woman
07:54for developing a very deadly type of rice blast fungus that could have been used against rice-eating nations
08:00like China or North Vietnam when the United States was at war then.
08:03And then he said Russian scientists came up with a deadly wheat rust to something that could affect the United
08:10States economy.
08:13So he says, you can see how an enemy could greatly undermine the economy of a nation
08:18by first destroying its main crops through bacteriological warfare.
08:23The article says, you know, scientists must bear their full share of responsibility for their part in developing more deadly
08:30and virulent microbes which could unleash horrifying disease epidemics around the world.
08:36Well, where does that leave us?
08:38It seems like AI will be an aid to scientists' goals of developing deadlier and deadlier pathogens.
08:47It leaves us precisely, this is what the old article said, by the way, and they didn't use AI,
08:52but the world's most noted newscaster, Jesus Christ said, would leave us.
08:58Speaking of our day, he said there'll be great tribulation.
09:00He's quoting Matthew 24, 21 here.
09:03Which is not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
09:06To accept those days should be shortened, no flesh should be saved alive, but for the elect's sake, those days
09:13will be shortened.
09:15Well, is that verse telling us that the scientists will stop developing pathogens before we are all killed?
09:21No, just that God is going to intervene before humanity can wipe itself out.
09:26Anyway, Raymond McNair was right back in the 60s and humans would continue to look to developing pestilences.
09:31And yes, the solution is going to be God's intervention and establishment of the coming kingdom of God.
09:36Now, that's the good news.
09:38However, before them, more pestilences are coming.
09:42And while AI will not kill all humanity, based on what Jesus said, pestilences will come.
09:48Plus, there's other AI risks.
09:51What other risks could there possibly be?
09:54Well, one is that AI programs are going to be able to break into financial and other systems and perhaps
10:00drain money from people's accounts.
10:01As world finance has become more digital, this has become a major economic threat.
10:06Therefore, consider maybe a leader in Europe is going to propose some type of biometric system, an AI, to prevent
10:15AI economic disasters.
10:19You know, right now in Europe, all 27 nations have to offer all their residents and citizens by the end
10:26of 2026 the opportunity to use on their cell phones as some kind of a digital wallet.
10:33It's got their ID, driver's license, probably many other things.
10:39Maybe that's not going to be secure enough.
10:43Okay, so maybe we'll see the leader over in Europe trying to implement maybe some kind of mark of the
10:52beast involving maybe your right hand or your forehead to allow for safer buying or selling.
10:59Is this in line with what the Bible prophesies?
11:03Absolutely.
11:04Go to Revelation chapter 13, starting in verse 15, we read that he was granted power.
11:33Now, by the way, on the European digital wallet, it's voluntary right now, but this will not be voluntary.
11:42Verse 18, here is wisdom.
11:44Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it's the number of a man.
11:48His number is 666.
11:51We're getting closer to the day when technology is unheard of when God inspired the Apostle John to warn what
11:59would happen, like computers and AI.
12:03The totalitarian beast of Revelation is going to be able to use to assist in his 666 reign, which will
12:10also enforce, by the way, the coming famine of the word that we'll warn about in Amos chapter 8, verses
12:1411 to 12.
12:16Now, in the New Testament, 1 Thessalonians 5, 3, the Bible warns, quote, for when they say peace and safety,
12:25then sudden destruction comes upon them.
12:28So I believe that the coming 666 beast is going to declare his system, which I think is going to
12:37involve AI, will bring peace and safety and to protect us from rogue AI and all this kind of stuff.
12:43Okay, so kind of the carrot and the stick approach.
12:47You know, right now, certain things are voluntary.
12:50Then they're going to push it, push it, push it, make it harder and harder to buy and sell unless
12:55you start to switch to their system.
12:56Then they're going to tell you all these advantages to it.
13:00And then, of course, they're going to force it.
13:05And, you know, so there are going to be claimed benefits for implementing the coming mark of the beast.
13:11And I have a feeling, I'm pretty certain, actually, protecting it from AI and other rogue elements is going to
13:17be a factor.
13:18Anyway, the reality is biological pathogens developed by humans are a real threat.
13:23And with AI involvement, it can be faster and perhaps worse because the Bible makes it clear we're going to
13:28have that.
13:29It also makes it clear there's going to be control of buying and selling.
13:32More surveillance and financial controls are prophesied to come.
13:37You know, AI is going to be involved.
13:39So, yes, I do think AI will be a factor in persuading people to take the mark of the beast
13:46as well as to develop the mark of the beast and be involved with the beast's power.
13:51The reality is, though, people are going to do this.
13:55And the Bible warns against taking the mark of the beast in Revelation that God will punish people who do
14:03in Revelation 16, too.
14:04So even though people are going to be pushed that way, don't let the beast persuade you otherwise.
