Is Russia about to invade NATO? Is the “Special Military Operation” into Ukraine about to creep into Latvia, some of the other Baltic States, or Poland?
Is the United States and Europe so weakened by their own military and economic problems that Russia sees this as their best opportunity to take back land from Europe that they feel rightfully belongs under Russian control?
How about a conspiracy? Is it possible that Russia and Germany have conspired together to allow Russia to attack Europe’s eastern flank without Germany’s interference, and then later divide the conquered land between them? 00:04Greetings, friends. This is Steve Dupuy for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob Thiel,
00:09bringing you news and analysis of world events in light of Bible prophecy. Dr. Thiel, we were
00:15just talking about Russia's special military operation. Is the scope of that conflict expanding
00:21to NATO? Well, Russia has been attacking in Ukraine, but there's been fallout on some of
00:30the other European countries that are near it, like Romania. And for example, it says as of August
00:3717th, four Russian drones have been shot down in Romanian airspace. And the Romanians say their
00:44airspace has been violated by Russian drones at least 23 times this year. But this article says
00:50so far, there's nothing to suggest Moscow intended to violate Russian airspace, according to their
00:58ministry in Bucharest. And they also said, based on the data and evidence we have, we can't conclude
01:04that the increased number of drone incidents in our territory is a result of deliberate attempt
01:09to target specific locations within our country, the ministry told ABC News in the statement.
01:17Is Russia about to attack NATO?
01:20Well, some people think so. MSN posted that Western intelligence agencies are increasingly concerned
01:27that Russia may be preparing a limited hybrid operation targeting NATO's eastern flank, particularly
01:33involving the Baltic states or Poland. Latvia is one of those states, and it's been concerned about that
01:40as well. CNN reported that U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that the Russian president could try to test
01:49NATO's resolve by launching limited attack on an allied country a few years.
01:56You know, the alliance's leaders say they're ready for an attack, but some people think maybe they can get
02:00away with it, could get away with one. For example, former German defense minister,
02:06Karl Theodor Zuglutenberg, he warned in May that Russia might attack Europe, NATO members for two reasons.
02:13Number one, quote, if the signs multiply that the U.S. due to Trump's personality and NATO's current
02:21inability would not come the aid of an attack European nation, even though the NATO collective defense clause
02:28Article 5 would be triggered, number one. And number two, the Europeans are not yet capable of effectively
02:35defending themselves against a Russian attack. End quote. So anyway, this gives Russian President
02:41Vladimir Putin, according to this article, a clear window of opportunity to act.
02:47So many Western thinkers feel that if Russia did attack NATO, NATO either couldn't or wouldn't respond.
02:55Is Russia about to take possession of any NATO lands?
02:59Well, first, a major attack. Everybody thinks NATO would respond. But as far as Russia taking
03:06possession of any NATO lands, some think so. I'm going to read from a post from a couple of days
03:12ago. It says, in recent months, the three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have been
03:18increasingly targeted by Russian hybrid attacks. In a booklet called The Prophesied Prince of Russia,
03:25Russia. The writer points to a passage in Ezekiel 38 that indicates that Putin will probably conquer
03:31more nations of the former Soviet Union. Ezekiel 38 2 reads, Son of man, set your face against Gog,
03:38the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshach and Tubal, and prophesy against it.
03:46And they say that this verse should read the prince of Rosh, Meshach, and Tubal.
03:53Rosh was the ancient name of Russia, once called Rus. That's correct, by the way.
03:59So who is this prince of Russia, Moscow, Tubalisk, or Tubalisk? This is an individual ruler of all
04:08the peoples of Russia from the west and the east, which I don't think, by the way, includes people
04:14from the Baltics because they're not Russian. But anyway, this is. This great swath of land,
04:21the prince will probably conquer more nations of the former Soviet Union. With all the firepower
04:28that U.S. and Europe have, one would think they could prevent this from happening. But why could it
04:34happen? Because in 2008, they wrote, I believe that Germany's leaders may have already made a deal
04:40with Russia, a modern Hitler-Stalin pact, where Germany and Russia divide countries and assets
04:46between themselves. Are we about to see Russia and Germany divide Europe as they did in the early
04:53stages of World War II? That's what the article says. Well, anyway, the answer to that last question
04:57is no.
04:59Why do you say no? Germany and Russia are not ready to divide Europe?
05:04Because you've got to look at what Ezekiel 38 says. It says it's going to take place in the latter
05:08days when Israel is safe and unprotected and has lots of gold and silver. Well, Israel doesn't have
05:14lots of gold and silver now, and it certainly has a lot of military protection because it doesn't feel
05:19safe. The late Herbert W. Armstrong wrote in the last century, Ezekiel 38, this invasion will not
05:28come until after the second coming of Christ. And the biblical reality, by the way, is that it won't
05:34be fulfilled for a thousand years at least from now. So Vladimir Putin, who that group teaches is the
05:40Prince of Rosh, is not about to fulfill Ezekiel 38. Furthermore, Ezekiel 38 does not teach that the
05:48nations of the former Eastern Bloc are to be attacked by Russia.
05:54So there is no need to worry about a soon coming deal between Germany and Russia?
06:01Well, I actually agree that Russia is going to make a deal with Germany, but it's not for giving up
06:07European Union nations and dividing Europe. It'll be to eliminate the United States and its British
06:14descended allies and divide them up. Now that's consistent with biblical prophecies
06:19like Daniel 11 39, which says the European king of the North will conquer the power with the
06:24strongest military, strongest fortresses, United States, and divide the land for gain.
06:30It's not a prophecy related to Russia getting parts of Eastern Europe.
06:33And the old Radio Church of God back in 1962, even back then said, the German people are asking
06:42themselves, can we rely on the Americans and British? And their conclusion is they need to rely
06:47on themselves and make a better bargain with the Russians.
06:53The article says, most Americans and Britons are not aware of what Germany and Europe are plotting
06:57against them. And world events are moving toward the climax when Great Britain, the United States
07:04will be attacked and destroyed, end quote. Now, the Bible teaches that when this European
07:10beast power rises up and conquers all these people, the world will be astonished by its military
07:15accomplishments. You can read that in the New Testament, Revelation 13, verses three to four.
07:22Now, this is going to include eliminating United States and British descended allies, as well as
07:28a confederation of what are now Islamic nations in the Middle East and North Africa. And you can read
07:34this in Daniel 11, verses 39 to 43.
07:38Biblically speaking, where does Russia fit into the end times?
07:44Well, different scriptures, but talking about the king of the North,
07:48he, the European power, is going to be disturbed according to Daniel 11, 44, from news from the
07:54East and the North are going to trouble him. And so we're talking about, well, what could be
08:00East and North of Europe? Russia and Asia, okay? So this is going to be an alliance that will be
08:08against
08:10Europe. And if you go into Revelation 16, we read, starting verse 12, about the sixth angel pours out
08:18his bowl in the great river Euphrates. The water is dried up, so the way of the kings from the
08:24east
08:25will be prepared. And by the way, verse 16 says, they will gather together in a place in Hebrew called
08:31Armageddon. Now, Russia is clearly part of the kings of the east. Actually, you can't get any further
08:37east than Russia. Its eastness extends all the way to the west. So the kings of the east, they're going
08:44to have to cooperate somehow militarily for this to happen. And we're seeing two of the biggest ones,
08:50Russia, which has got the most land, and China, which has almost the most people. They've increased
08:55their cooperation. Don't some teach Russia is the king of the north?
09:02Yeah, but contrary to teachings of people like the late Hal Lindsey, who was a Protestant,
09:09Russia is not the king of the north. And there is no power north and east of Russia,
09:14okay? So it doesn't fit it geographically, so that rules it out as the king of the north.
09:19Well, what other prophecies involved Europe and Russia? Well, for example, Jeremiah.
09:28We're talking about end-time European Babylon starting verse, Jeremiah 50 starting verse 1.
09:34Verse 2 says, Proclaim it around the nations, don't conceal it. Babylon is taken, for out of the
09:39north a nation comes against her, okay? So the king of the north could be bothered by somebody from
09:45further north. Okay, verse 41. Behold, the people come from the north. A great nation,
09:50many kings will be raised up. They'll go against you, O daughter of Babylon. Verse 43. The king of
09:57Babylon, this is the European king of the north, has heard a report about him. His hands grow feeble.
10:02Anguish has taken hold of him like pangs of a woman in childbirth.
10:08And Russia will be the leading power of that north and come against the European empire, which is
10:14the daughter of Babylon. I mentioned Herbert Armstrong, and he talked about Babylon in the
10:2117th chapter of Revelation. He says, this is the daughter of Babylon. And he talks about
10:26scriptures such as Jeremiah 50, talking about this thing by Jeremiah the prophet. He says, declare this
10:34among the nations. Now, this is against Babylon. This country's finally coming against what you'd call
10:41Catholic Europe. And Russia is to the north and there to the south. And out of the north,
10:46there comes a nation against her. So that's what Herbert Armstrong wrote in 82. So we've got this
10:51northern confederation that also extends to the east. So that suggests that Russia is the
11:00basically the leader of it. And they're going to destroy ancient Babylon.
11:06Also, Jeremiah wrote, Jeremiah 50, verses 8 and 9. New King James.
11:14Move from the midst of Babylon. Get out of the land of the Chaldeans and be like the rams before
11:19the flocks. Verse 9. For behold, all raise up to come against Babylon, an assembly of great nations
11:25from the north country. They will array themselves against her. From there, she shall be captured.
11:31And the arrows, like those of an expert warrior, none will return in vain. In other words,
11:36they're going to hit their target. And I should have mentioned, Herbert Armstrong also mentioned
11:44Isaiah. And I skipped that part. But let's go to Isaiah 13. Because it's not just Jeremiah
11:49who talked about this. Jeremiah 13, starting in verse 1. The burden against Babylon, which Isaiah,
11:57the son of Amaz Saul. Lift up a banner on the high mountain. Raise your voice to them. Wave your
12:05hand
12:05that they may enter the gates of the nobles. For I have commanded my sanctified ones. I have also
12:10called my mighty ones for my anger, those who rejoice in my exaltation. A noise of the multitude
12:17of the mountains, like that of many people. It's not just be Russia, it's be a bunch of groups together.
12:23A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together. The Lord of hosts musters the
12:30army for the battle. They come from a far country, from the end of heaven. The Lord and his weapons
12:37of indignation to destroy the whole land. Wail for the day of the Lord is at hand. It will come
12:42as
12:42destruction from the Almighty. Therefore, all hands will be limp. Every man's heart will melt.
12:47They'll be afraid. Pangs and sorrows and terrors will take hold of him. Because of the pains of
12:53women and childbirth. They'll be amazed one another. The traces will be like flames. And
12:57if you compare that to Jeremiah chapter 50, it's talking about the same basic thing. Both these accounts
13:06in Jeremiah and Isaiah are talking about the same invaders. And we read in
13:14Daniel chapter 11. Something north and east of Europe is going to bother Europe.
13:19And we can only be talking then about Russia. But this is not talking about now. This is talking about
13:28a later time. And this particular part for this particular attack will not happen, by the way,
13:36before 2032 or 1933. And I'm not saying it will happen then. But that's the absolute earliest. I think
13:44that that can happen. So it's not about to happen now. Russia is not about to retake the Latvia,
13:52Estonia, the three Baltic nations up there. So while there likely will be military incursions
14:01before that time. Biblical prophecies show that Russia will conquer much of Europe,
14:06but they don't take place until after the United States and the coming Islamic empire are conquered
14:11first. Those who believe the Bible also know that Ezekiel 38 is not for our age. We need to believe
