On August 6, 2026, 14 Sunni Muslim nations agreed to be part of a naval confederation. The next day, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan announced they signed to be part of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement.
Leaders from Turkey and Pakistan announced that more nations in the region are welcome to join this Mecca Alliance.
Because of certain provisions in it, a government official from Turkey as well as various commentators have pointed to this agreement as a possible Islamic NATO. The idea of this being a Muslim NATO looks to have been endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation which welcomed that trilateral defense pact between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as a “historic” and strategically significant step for the security of the wider Muslim world.
But could these military arrangements be consistent with biblical prophecies?
If you are a student of the Bible, you may be aware of someone referred to as 'the King of the South' in Bible prophecy.
Most the nations that have agreed to be part of these military arrangements are in lands that the Bible shows will support the coming King of the South. This leader will lead a confederation of peoples from the Middle East and North Africa--and leaders of a dozen nations in that region are part of one or more of the agreements announced in August 2026.
Back in 2018, Dr. Thiel told of a coming 'Arab NATO' with support from Turkey. Are we now seeing this being formed?
The Bible says that "the king of the South shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army" (Daniel 11:25). With 1.4 million troops part of the Mecca agreement and other nations expected to support it, such a very great army will relatively soon be formed.
Turkey said that Egypt, which has been working towards a type of Sunni Muslim military alliance, is expected to join the Mecca agreement. Could an Egyptian be the man who will become the final King of the South of biblical prophecies?
And as a student of the Bible, do you know who the King of the South goes to war against? If you don’t know who he goes to war against, you won’t be able to understand how current world events are fulfilling Biblical prophecy right before our eyes.
Did Dr. Thiel warn that the King of the South would arise after military actions against Iran? Is Israel concerned about these Islamic military agreements?
Can you see that the foundations for the confederacy called the kingdom of the King of the South is forming right now?
Watch this video as Dr. Thiel shines the light of Biblical truth on the identity of the King of the South, the countries of his kingdom, and who the rival king is that he goes to war with in the not-too-distant future.

00:04Greetings, friends. This is Steve Dupuy for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob Thiel,
00:10bringing you news and analysis of world events in light of Bible prophecy. Dr. Thiel, off-air,
00:16you were mentioning an Islamic NATO and the possible rise of the King of the South.
00:21Would you fill our audience in on that? Certainly. Many analysts are wondering if
00:28an Islamic NATO has actually started to form, but news sources, they fail to connect us with
00:34prophecies. Now, let me read a headline from yesterday and a news item. Islamic NATO,
00:40what's the military might of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey? Pakistan, Saudi Arabia,
00:46and Turkey signed a landmark Mecca joint defense agreement. With this move, the three Muslim
00:52nations bring together nearly 1.4 million active military personnel, more than 3,400 aircraft,
00:59and over 6,000 tanks. Islamic NATO has become a buzzword since last week when Pakistan, Saudi
01:06Arabia, and Turkey signed the Mecca joint defense agreement, a new security alliance seeking to
01:12deter Iran. The defense pact binds three powerful Sunni countries with a NATO-style clause that considers
01:22an attack on one country to be an attack on all. Owing to the presence of the three Sunni Muslim
01:28nations, some pundits have called this agreement NATO in the Middle East or Muslim NATO. When it comes to
01:36manpower, the three nations combined boast having nearly 1.4 million active military personnel.
01:42Israel, Ankara has 481,000 in its fighting force, Rihad 247,000, and Islamabad 660,000. While officials
01:52from the three nations have repeatedly stated that the Mecca agreement isn't directed at any one actor
01:57or threat, there's no doubt that it's a deterrent mainly against two other nations, Iran and Israel, end quote.
02:08Since Islamic NATO has become a buzzword, has this agreement caught the world by surprise?
02:16Well, the idea is not new. Since at least 2018, I've warned of the coming Arab Islamic NATO. Back then,
02:23we even made a video called Arab NATO and the Coming King of the South.
02:28What is the relationship between this Mecca agreement and NATO?
02:34Well, it's not tied to any part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization itself. But one of
02:39the reasons that the Mecca agreement is being called an Islamic NATO is because a Turkish government
02:45official basically quoted the NATO provisions for how this agreement is supposed to work.
02:50So here's another article from yesterday.
02:54How Islamic NATO shifts global geopolitics.
02:58They're calling the agreement the Islamic NATO because, amongst other things,
03:02it includes a NATO Article 5 style clause promising the effect
03:07that an attack on one is an attack on all.
03:11If it holds, the alliance could form a long-term defense structure for the region
03:16and its ripples will be felt much further from India to China to the U.S.
03:21in a world at large, a world that's very much in realignment.
03:26The Middle East is becoming coherent and more powerful and will have a significant effect,
03:31particularly in a region around the Middle East, say India, China, as well as to some extent,
03:38Europe, end quote.
03:40Yeah, well, one day, by the way, Europe will be affected according to biblical prophecies.
03:44Now, there's a view of many out there that this is not Islamic NATO.
03:49But then I saw another interesting article from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
03:58They hail this as a NATO style Muslim alliance.
04:03It says it is historic in a strategically significant step for the security of the wider Muslim world.
04:13Their Secretary General, Hassan Rahim Taha, expressed what the organization described
04:21as a strong appreciation and support for the agreement, calling it an important strategic step
04:26that reflects three countries' commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation.
04:33Taha described the PAC as a fundamental pillar for supporting security and stability
04:38across the region and the Muslim world, and said it embodied a shared determination
04:43to confront growing security challenges, and it will deepen solidarity among the Islamic member states.
04:51He praised the leadership of the three countries and voiced hope that the agreement would contribute
04:56to peace and prosperity in the region and beyond.
05:00Excuse me for interrupting, Dr. Thiel, but isn't the United States currently guaranteeing peace in that region?
05:08Well, to a degree, but the Iran war, as well as Israeli actions, are changing attitudes.
05:14Now, going back to that article, it says, shifting security architecture.
05:20Analysts have described the agreement as a potential turning point in the security order of the Middle East
05:25and even South Asia.
05:27The Atlantic Council characterized it as an inflection point in an emerging multipolar order,
05:34noting that Ankara, that's Turkey's capital, broadens its protective umbrella already extended
05:41to such allies such as Qatar, Syria, and Libya, adding significant new resources
05:48to what amounts to an emerging Muslim collective defense mechanism.
05:53Al-Dilazi Segar, chairman of the Saudi-based Gulf Research Center, said the political symbolism
06:00of the three Muslim world's most influential states convening at the moment of heightened uncertainty
06:06was significant in itself, demonstrating a growing willingness among regional powers
06:12to coordinate more closely on security.
06:14He says, if institutionalized and translated into concrete cooperation, he argued that framework
06:22could strengthen the three countries' collective diplomatic and defense weight
06:27and contribute to more regional driven security architecture, one less dependent on outside powers
06:35like the United States.
06:37For the three governments and for the organization Islamic group that's now blessed this arrangement,
06:44that's precisely the point.
06:46At a moment when the region's traditional security guarantees look increasingly uncertain,
06:52three major Muslim states have chosen to bind their defense together
06:56and to do it in Islam's holiest city, where the symbolism could hardly be clearer.
07:02End quote.
07:04Could those three governments provide the same security as the United States?
07:10Not really, but additionally, it needs to be understood that more Sunni Muslim countries
07:15are invited and expected to join.
07:19In a video that was just released, Pakistan's defense minister called forward to other Islamic nations
07:26to join the Mecca defense agreement.
07:28How does this tie in biblically with the King of the South?
07:33While the Mecca alliance is already substantial, the Bible teaches in Daniel chapter 11, verse 25,
07:42that the King of the South shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army.
07:49Now, growing the Mecca alliance, which already has almost 1.4 million people in the army,
07:54or something like it, is going to result in the great prophesied army that Daniel wrote about.
08:04And most of the other 11 nations that also aligned with Turkey in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan the day before,
08:13they signed a naval agreement.
08:16And they may join that Mecca alliance as well.
08:19And consider further that Egypt itself has been working on some type of alliance like this for some time.
08:26And Turkey, by the way, said it expects that Egypt is going to join the Mecca alliance.
08:33So how does Egypt fit into all of this?
08:37It was the position of the old radio church of God that Egypt very well could have the final leader
08:45who's the King of the South.
08:46But it would take a very long time for this to be the case.
08:51I'm going to read a quote from a 1963 Plain Truth article by the late Garner Ted Armstrong.
08:57Here's what he wrote.
08:59Daniel was given specific visions of events to occur in our time.
09:05Notice the time of the end.
09:07Absolutely dated the time of the end.
09:09So the King of the South push against the King of the North.
09:12The King of the North will come against him like a whirlwind with chariots, with horsemen, with many ships.
09:18And he'll enter into the countries and overflow and pass over.
09:22So the Bible scholars recognize the first typical fulfillment of this surprising prophecy,
09:28but have failed to see its literal applications for the end time.
09:32But what about modern powers by these designations?
09:37Well, if you look at a map, you'll find two towers, powers that fit this.
09:42Who else could the King of the North be except a coming United States of Europe?
09:46Which, by the way, we've seen that happening.
09:49Which is a resurrection of the ancient Roman Empire.
09:52A re-armed Germany heading to a final European Union in Europe.
09:59This is the biblical King of the North.
10:00And since, you know, they wrote this in the 60s, you know, we've got the European Union and stuff going
10:05on.
10:06Then he goes to the next part.
10:08The King of the South, question mark?
10:11Egypt, of course.
10:12But not Egypt of today.
10:15Okay, so not Egypt from 1963.
10:17But Egypt years from now.
10:19Egypt, as she continues to expand various things and to bring more of the North African Muslim nations into an
10:29Afro-Arabian power block.
10:31So that's what was published in 1963.
10:35Well, anyway, whether or not the King of the South himself will actually be an Egyptian,
10:41the Bible is absolutely clear that Egypt will be part of the King of the South Confederation.
10:47What other countries might join this new NATO?
10:52Well, they've talked about, like I say, Libya and Algeria, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen.
11:08So all those things have been discussed as countries that may join.
11:13Also, even parts of Sudan, because perhaps we talk about Kushites, which are darker skinned people as opposed to the
11:22Arab countries that are mentioned.
11:25Now, in late 2025, I did a sermon where I went over items to watch in 2026.
11:36And I'm going to read part of my number 19.
11:39Number 19, steps toward the formation of the King of the South will occur.
11:44The formation of the King of the South is something to look for.
11:46Then the article quotes Daniel 11, 40 to 43, which says,
11:51At the time of the end, the King of the South shall attack him, and the King of the North
11:55shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and many ships.
11:59He'll enter the countries, overthrow them, and pass through.
12:03He'll also enter the glorious land, that would be like Israel, and many countries will be overthrown.
12:08But these will escape from his land, Edom, the Turks, Moab, and the prominent people of Amman.
12:17So this is talking about people in Jordan and probably the Emirates.
12:20He will stretch out his hand against these countries, but the land of Egypt will not escape.
12:27And then he'll have power over the treasures of gold and silver and all the precious things of Egypt.
12:31And the Libyans and, I should say, Kushites will follow at his heels.
12:37Now, both the U.S. and the European politicians for the longest time have been telling people that we need
12:44this to form.
12:45We need an Islamic group over there to deal with things like terrorism, whatever.
12:49Some have wondered if the Abraham Accords were going to do this.
12:53And that Accord is, those Accords do help some of the Islamic nations get closer together.
12:59But a prophecy about them all coming together is going to happen.
13:06The Bible says it's going to happen.
13:08And the lands and peoples that are mentioned supporting the King of the South in Daniel 11
13:14are basically dominated by Sunni Islam right now.
13:20And I've long warned, by the way, that the coming King of the South would rise up after Iran became
13:26somewhat weakened or neutralized militarily.
13:30Now, in the news today, RT reported, quote,
13:35In Moscow, experts at the Middle East Study Center analyzed the PAC-MECA agreement and broke down its implications.
13:44Writing exclusively for RT, the center's president, Murad Segrase,
13:49explained how its members will have the task of deterring both Israel and Iran,
13:54Iran, all without overt U.S. involvement.
13:59So, yeah, this alliance looks to be taking place because of Iran and Israel.
14:04And although the King of the South leader himself hasn't yet risen to prominence,
14:08we're seeing more military cooperation among Arab and Islamic nations.
14:13And, yes, this Mecca alliance will tie in with the rise of the final King of the South the Bible
14:19prophesies.
14:21Biblical prophecies are coming to pass.
14:22Look, remember, the Apostle Paul warned Christians, 1 Thessalonians 5.20,
14:27do not despise prophecies.
14:29We in the continuing Church of God are striving to watch, as Jesus told his followers to do,
14:34and report as a watchman, like God told his equal to do.
14:38Thank you, Dr. Thiel.
