Ticks are insects that are easy to hate. But did you know that they not only suck your blood, but they also spit on you?
When they start gnawing on you to suck your blood some of their spit gets mixed with your blood. It should come as no surprise that this has the potential of causing disease. What might come as a surprise is that this gnawing, sucking, spitting process has actually resulted in a new syndrome known as Alpha Gal Syndrome. However, what might come as an even bigger surprise is that there is a group of people that have found a way to claim the Modern Day Pestilence of the Alpha Gal Syndrome as being good.
The Alpha Gal Syndrome causes those that suffer from tick bites to become highly allergic to red meat and meat products such as dairy and gelatin. This syndrome can even lead to anaphylactic shock, which can also be fatal.
Calling this Modern Pestilence good is a Biblical example of ‘calling evil good’.
To learn more about this modern-day pestilence watch this video as Dr. Thiel shines the light of Biblical truth on the modern-day pestilence of the Alpha Gal Syndrome.

00:04Greetings, friends. This is Steve Dupuy for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob Thiel,
00:09bringing you news and analysis of world events in light of Bible prophecy.
00:14Dr. Thiel, there is no insect I dislike more than a tick. I recently heard of another
00:22disease caused by ticks. What do you know about it?
00:25Well, ticks are well known for spreading something called Lyme disease, but now they've got another
00:30consequence. Here's a headline from a couple of days ago. Tick-borne alpha-gal syndrome leaves
00:36New Yorkers unable to eat red meat. It says this causes an allergy from tick bites. It says alpha-gal
00:45syndrome is spread through the sugar in tick saliva, and it causes an allergy to red meats and mammal
00:52related products, including milk, gelatin, and even some ingredients in common lotions.
00:58The New York State Department of Health Commissioner James McDonald said the conditions are becoming more
01:06common. He says disease can span from indigestion and heartburn from eating meat all the way to an
01:12anaphylactic shock, which, by the way, could kill people. Anyway, he says alpha-gal syndrome is not
01:18an infection. It's an allergy. And this article from Channel 10 News says, the best protection against alpha-gal
01:27syndrome, another tick-borne illness, is wearing full-coverage colorful clothing and using insect repellent.
01:36People should check for ticks after going indoors and remove any ticks gently, but with a tweezer, end quote.
01:44I don't know if I'd remove them gently, but do you have any more information on alpha-gal syndrome?
01:50Well, first of all, just the name. You've heard of alpha males? Well, that ain't how they came up with
01:56alpha-gal. It's got nothing to do with it. I want to read some information from the U.S. Centers
02:04for
02:05Disease Control on alpha-gal syndrome. They said, what is alpha-gal syndrome? It's a serious,
02:11potentially life-threatening allergy and tick-borne disease. Alpha-gal is a molecule. The molecule,
02:17by the way, is galactose. That's where you get the gal. Alpha. That's where you get alpha. 1,3-galactose.
02:24It's naturally produced in the bodies of both mammals, but not in people. It's also found in the
02:30saliva or the spit of some ticks. When a tick bites, it can transfer alpha-gal from its saliva into
02:38a
02:38person's blood. The body's natural defenses or immune system can identify alpha-gal as a threat
02:45and trigger an allergic reaction. Symptoms occur after people eat red meat or are exposed to other
02:50products made from mammals. Because of this, alpha-gal syndrome is also known as red meat allergy
02:57or tick bite allergy, end quote. So, in addition to sucking my blood, the tick has to spit on me
03:05too.
03:06How many people has the tick spit on so far? Well, according to the Centers for Disease Control,
03:14nearly 450,000 people may have been affected. They've had more than 110,000 suspected cases of
03:22alpha-gal syndrome between 2010 and 2022. But it's not a syndrome that's nationally
03:30notifiable to the CDC, so it could be happening all over the place.
03:34But they're suspecting perhaps 450,000 people have been affected. They need more information to
03:40figure this out. Anyway, under risk factors, you've already said this one, it's caused by tick
03:47bites. So, more research is needed to understand the role ticks play in causing AGS.
03:52The United States is primarily associated with the bite of a lone star tick, and is less commonly
04:00by the bite of the black-legged tick or the western black-legged tick. In other countries,
04:05other tick species have been linked to alpha-gal syndrome. In the United States, not every person
04:12bitten by a lone star black-legged or western black-legged tick develops alpha-gal syndrome.
04:19But the reason why, they don't know. Most cases of alpha-gal syndrome have been reported in adults.
04:26People of all ages can get it. Most reported cases of alpha-gal syndrome in the United States occur in
04:33the southeast and central states. So, it's not that big a deal out here. As a matter of fact, I
04:37never even
04:37heard about it until somebody called me up once on the phone and asked me several months ago back on
04:43the
04:43east coast. Prevention. CDC says the best way to protect yourself and your family from developing
04:50alpha-gal syndrome is to prevent tick bites. So, Steve, I want you to go and tell these ticks don't
04:57bite. Yeah, right.
05:00And it says more ways to reduce risk. Apparently not asking you. You can also take steps to protect
05:05your pets and reduce the risk of sick exposure around your home. Now, oddly, this really got me. Last
05:15summer, there was a peer-reviewed paper, scientific paper advocating having more people get alpha-gal
05:22syndrome. I'm going to read an abstract from a quote of a study article, scientific paper that
05:32was published in Bioethics. Quote, the bite of the lone star tick spreads alpha-gal syndrome,
05:38a condition whose only effect is the creation of a severe but non-fatal red meat allergy. Well,
05:44it can be fatal, by the way. Public health departments warn against lone star ticks and alpha-gal
05:51syndrome, and scientists are working to develop an inoculation to alpha-gal syndrome. Herein,
05:57we argue that if eating meat is morally impermissible, then efforts to prevent the spread
06:06of tick-borne alpha-gal syndrome is also morally impermissible. After explaining the symptoms of
06:12alpha-gal syndrome and how they're transmitted by a tick, we argue that tick-borne alpha-gal
06:17alpha-gal syndrome is a moral bio-enhancer, if and when it motivates people to stop eating meat.
06:26That was published in Bioethics. Advocating allergies to reduce red meat consumption is not ethical.
06:35Dr. Thiel, how does God address this claim of morality?
06:412 Timothy 3, starting in verse 1. Apostle Paul warned, you know, in the last days, perilous times are going
06:48to come.
06:49People are going to be lovers themselves, covetous, prosters, proud, without natural infection.
06:55Lovers of pleasure is more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness, but denying power thereof from such
07:01turn away.
07:02End quote. Well, claiming something is ethical when it's not is consistent with having a form of godliness, but denying
07:09its power.
07:11Furthermore, the book of Proverbs, we're warned, don't rejoice when your enemy falls.
07:16Don't let your heart be glad when he stumbled.
07:19Bioethic people are saying they are.
07:22In Leviticus 19, we're told, don't hate your brother in your heart.
07:27Don't take vengeance or a grudge against the children of your people, but you'll love your neighbors yourself.
07:32But in scientific paper, they're saying, oh, we don't love these people.
07:35We love them to get allergies or whatever.
07:40Now, while the Bible does allow for vegetarianism, and in the book of Daniel, Joseph's time that was wise,
07:47it also opposes condemning meat eaters.
07:50In Romans, chapter 14, starting verse 2, we read,
07:55For one believes he may eat all things.
07:58He who is weak and only eats vegetables.
08:02Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat.
08:06Let him who does not eat judge him who eats, for what God has received him.
08:12By the way, the Bible says it's the one who's weak in the faith who doesn't accept that God allows
08:17for eating meat.
08:18And in the Bible, in the Old Testament, specifically, in the book of Leviticus, chapter 11, we're told what meat
08:26we can eat.
08:28Starting verse 2, God says,
08:30These are the animals which you may eat among the animals on the earth.
08:33Among the animals that divide the hoof, having clove and hooves, and choose the cuds.
08:39Those you can eat.
08:40That would be like cows and sheep and stuff like that.
08:42But the ones who don't do that, like camels and swine, you can't eat.
08:49That's Leviticus, chapter 11.
08:51And also, we see the same thing in Deuteronomy, chapter 14, starting verse 4.
08:59These are the animals which you may eat.
09:01This is from the Word of God.
09:02The ox, the sheep, and the goat, the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the mountain goat,
09:08the antelope, the mountain sheep, and says, again, you can eat.
09:12These animals have clove and hooves and chew the cud.
09:14But other things you can't eat, like rabbits and camels and swine.
09:19They're unclean.
09:22Yet those writers published at Bioethics don't want you to believe in the Word of God.
09:27You can or should eat these things.
09:30Well, are those writers calling good evil?
09:34In a manner of speaking, yes.
09:37And Isaiah talks about people like that.
09:40Isaiah, chapter 5, starting in verse 20.
09:43Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
09:50put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
09:52Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prude in their own sight.
09:55They're wise in their own eyes.
09:57They don't believe what the Word of God says.
09:58They think they're just fine and they can just do all this stuff.
10:01It brings to mind Romans, chapter 1.
10:05Something the Apostle Paul was inspired to write.
10:07So this is from the New Testament.
10:10Sorry, verse 28.
10:12Even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind
10:18to do those things which were not fitting.
10:21Being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy.
10:29Apparently, you know, kind of like they am, meat eaters.
10:32Murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness.
10:34They are whispers, backbiters, haters of God.
10:38Violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things.
10:42They think alpha-gal is a great thing.
10:45That's evil to say.
10:46That's a good thing.
10:47Disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving.
10:51That's for sure.
10:53Unforgiving and unmerciful.
10:55Well, those things seem to apply to them.
10:56No one should wish harm for people who are willing to follow what the Word of God teaches.
11:05Now, although the writers published that bioethics did not actually harm meat eaters,
11:11it's talking against what the Bible teaches.
11:14And that tends to lead to things like persecution.
11:18Might this latest tick bite syndrome fit into end-time prophecy?
11:25In a sense.
11:26So, we know that with the return of Jesus and the establishment of the kingdom of God,
11:31that will be the solution to problems the world faces.
11:33But Jesus warned prior to his return that we'd have wars and pestilences,
11:39and these would be part of the beginning of sorrows.
11:41So, I want to read this from Matthew 24, starting in verse 7.
11:48For nation, Jesus said, will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom.
11:52There will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
11:56These are the beginning of sorrows.
11:58Okay?
11:59He said something similar.
12:01Mark records, Mark 13, verse 8.
12:04For nation will rise up against nation, kingdom against kingdom.
12:09There will be earthquakes in various places.
12:11There will be famines and troubles.
12:13Well, things like alpha-gal syndrome are certainly troubling this part of the beginning of sorrows.
12:20And I do believe we're in the beginning of sorrows, by the way.
12:24And let's go to one more account.
12:26This is Luke's account.
12:28Luke chapter 21, starting in verse 10.
12:33It says,
12:52Now, while it's what I would call a non-infectious pestilence,
12:59because most pestilences, by the way, you're talking about diseases like the Black Plague or COVID, if you want.
13:09Becoming allergic to red meat from a tick bite, to me, that sounds definitely like a type of a pestilence.
13:15And so, I guess I would call it the alpha-gal pestilence.
13:20Yet, people over at Publishing Bioethics are saying,
13:25Oh, no, this is a good thing.
13:27We should promote this.
13:28We don't want to prevent that.
13:30That's absurd.
13:31They don't want to retain God in their knowledge.
13:34And that's why God's given them a mind to do things which are not right.
13:39Anyway, there is a solution to the alpha-gal syndrome.
13:43And it's probably not going to be until Jesus returns and establishes the kingdom of God.
13:49And that's something that all believers should pray for, for the kingdom of God to come.
13:54And when it comes to alpha-gal syndrome, yes, if you're going out walking in tall weeds or whatever,
14:00they do recommend that you cover yourself up, maybe wear socks that go over your pants or whatever,
14:06because you don't want to get this.
14:08You can obviously avoid it.
14:10Because, again, the Bible does say you can eat red meat.
14:13And so we don't want people to have to avoid it because of things like that.
14:18Thank you, Dr. Thiel.
