00:06You know, Kirk Signetti made some joking comments about scheduling the Irish.
00:12And I told Hoosier fans, Dave, you better hope they never schedule the Irish
00:16because Signetti will be gone and coaching an NFL team before he ever signs up
00:22to actually coach in South Bend in the regular season here.
00:27What have you taken away, if anything, from the Josh Hoover era of Hoosier football?
00:33I think Indiana is basically what they were last year.
00:37They're going to be a very well-coached team that doesn't have overwhelming talent
00:42like a Miami does or an LSU does, but they're coached well enough
00:46that they can win every single game like they did last year.
00:48And do I think they're going to go 16-0 again like they did?
00:51I mean, nobody sat here on September 19th and said, you know,
00:55Fernando Mendoza is the best quarterback in the country.
00:57No one said that last year.
00:59And now we're here with Josh Hoover.
01:00But Josh Hoover can do the exact same thing Mendoza does in this offense
01:03and all of a sudden be undefeated late in the year, and he's in the Heisman conversation.
01:07I don't think that's going to happen because Lightning's not striking twice here.
01:10Indiana has done what Indiana needs to do against playing nobody.
01:14We're not going to know.
01:15Same thing with Miami.
01:16Same thing with Notre Dame.
01:17We're really not going to know until they actually start playing real tough teams
01:22whether this Indiana team is as good as last year because they won every game they played last year.
01:28Now, some of them were a toe tap and some of them were this, but they wound up winning every
01:32game.
01:32That's what matters.
01:33Zignetti has the team where he wants to have them, and they're not being tested anytime soon.
01:37But with the Indiana, Notre Dame, and Miami without playing in a conference schedule that's tough
01:45or in-conference schedule that's weak like Miami, you're not going to know until later in the season.
01:52For Indiana, and again, I think their soft schedule was scheduled years in advance
02:02because they are a bad team who was supposed to need these three games
02:08to give themselves a chance at bowl eligibility.
02:11So, you know, I'm not being – I'm not naive to why it largely looks like this.
02:19What I will say is I think if Zignetti could, you know, change something about their schedule –
02:28now, again, I don't think he would like to be playing Georgia.
02:30And it's how back-loaded it all is.
02:33We talked at the top of this show about Oregon and the Oklahoma State loss being very bad.
02:40Thank goodness it was in week two.
02:42For Indiana to have that five-week runout, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Washington
02:49with Minnesota in between, those are all of their toughest games.
02:54I mean, you know, you want to throw the at-Nebraska game in?
02:56And, like, those are the toughest games that this team has to play.

03:13to start this season.
