00:00And Indiana versus Oregon, two fantastic offensive coaches here.
00:03And I want to ask you a two-part question, Coach.
00:05Number one, obviously, who's going to win this football game?
00:07But number two, you've played in a lot of loud stadiums before.
00:10Autzen certainly is way up there.
00:12How do you prepare your football team to get ready for that type of an environment as well?
00:17Autzen is as tough as any place.
00:19I didn't coach there, but I broadcasted there.
00:21I mean, they can pour their bourbon and cokes on your head from the bleachers.
00:25That's how close they are to the field.
00:27And they will do that too, but they've got an 18-game home winning streak right now.
00:32And they're a great football team.
00:34But there's no contender pretender here.
00:36This is not an indication that Indiana will look to be a pretender.
00:40I think these are both contenders, both very good quarterbacks, very good football teams.
00:45But Oregon has the best secondary in the country.
00:48I think it'll show up.
00:49I think Indiana has an outstanding running game.
00:52It will have to come through.
00:53At the end of the day, Oregon's quarterback, a little better.
00:56Oregon's talent, a little better.
00:58At Allison Field, a lot better.
01:00Oregon will cover.
01:01Coach, I know you know Kirk Cignetti very well.
01:05Talk to me about potentially what he could do a little bit differently on the road.
01:10Because, again, the last time he stepped up against Notre Dame and against Ohio State,
01:14a step up in competition, they didn't win those games, were severely outmanned in the trenches.
01:20But what can he do from the coaching advantage to potentially pull out this victory?
01:24Well, I think anything, any coach will learn from their mistakes or will learn what they've done wrong.
01:29But let me go back.
01:30I've known Kirk since he was five years old.
01:32His father was my dad's offensive coordinator at West Virginia.
01:35His father was my head coach, one of the brightest offensive minds.
01:39Kirk has years and years of people explaining him how to handle an away game.
01:44How to handle an away game where you're an underdog.
01:46Do you let them watch TV?
01:48Do you bring them together?
01:49Do you do this?
01:49Do you have walkthroughs?
01:51What the day-to-day routine is, the Friday and the Saturday of a game?
01:55He'll know what to do because he's been raised a football coach.
01:58And he's been a head coach a long time.
02:00I don't care if you're Division III or Division IA.
02:03The pregame preparation is the same wherever you are.
02:07So it's a big game.
02:08He's been in big games.
02:10And remember, this is a better football team than it was last year.
02:13He's building this program and he knows how to build it.
02:16And so we've got to assume some of the things like Ohio State, Oregon games last year where
02:20he lost late in the season, he's getting better.
02:23And I don't think he'll win this game because he's got a great team.
02:26He's playing on the road.
02:27But I think he knows how to handle the environment and the situation that's at hand.
