00:06Severe weather sweeping across the door central over the weekend.
00:08Check out this tornado, the touchdown, in Alberta, Minnesota on Friday.
00:14And I didn't know that Minnesota had a town named Alberta.
00:16We're learning new things every day.
00:18I know. How about it?
00:19There we go.
00:19That's photogenic, though. Look at that thing.
00:21It is. That's a, yeah, very photogenic tornado, which always feels weird being like,
00:27wow, how impressive, when, like, obviously we don't want to see a tornado.
00:30Tornadoes are bad.
00:31But, crazy video.
00:33Well, we could see more today, unfortunately, but also flash flooding.
00:37If you take one thing away from this, flash flooding is the headline of the week
00:41for the Northern Plains and the Great Lakes.
00:43So let's break it down piece by piece, because the area shifts a little bit day to day.
00:48So through tonight, here's where we're watching.
00:50North Dakota down through the far northwestern portions of Illinois here.
00:54Here, rounds of heavy rainfall can lead to exactly the situations you're seeing
00:58on the right-hand side of your screen there from Ohio.
01:01I can't exactly see the date, but I'm going to guess this is last week,
01:04because that's when we had the flash flooding there.
01:07Hopefully, you do not end up in a situation where you need a water rescue,
01:10but it's certainly not out of the question with the level of flooding
01:13that we're likely to see.
01:14But then there's also the severe weather, where we could see all types of severe weather
01:19really is expected here, especially into our level 2 out of 4 moderate risk area,
01:23where the most numerous severe storms are in the forecast.
01:27So let's break down the details of that a little bit further.
01:30You know, I like to give you an idea of what you're going to see most.
01:33In this situation, it may not seem quite as helpful at first,
01:37because we have 3 out of 4 in the medium range.
01:40Flooding takes the cake.
01:42I just can't put it at a high risk, because we don't have a high risk of severe weather,
01:45but you are going to see flooding the most.
01:48First, then wind and hail, and we do expect to see a couple tornadoes.
01:52So even though it's marked as a low risk, be ready for tornadoes,
01:56and especially keep in mind the timeline.
01:57This extends through the overnight.
01:59So what does that mean?
02:00Charge up the phone now.
02:01Make sure you have notifications turned on and your ringer turned on.
02:05Use do not disturb if you want to, so you don't get woken up for everything,
02:08but you want to make sure that you get woken up for those tornado warnings.
02:12Specifically, that is not something you want to sleep through.
02:14Let's take a look at future radar, giving you an idea of the timing here
02:17and just kind of how this plays out,
02:18why we're talking about the concern with rounds of heavy rain.
02:21So we head into the overnight.
02:23Here's round number, I mean, 3 for the day, really, technically.
02:26We had a round this morning that didn't cause too much problems just yet,
02:29because the thing is, we need the rain because of drought conditions,
02:32but this is going to end up being way too much at once.
02:35So we continue just tomorrow morning, Chicago.
02:37This could cause problems for your morning commute.
02:39There's your heads up.
02:40And then we continue on, and we start to see things shift to the south.
02:43Now, that's the trend this week.
02:45We bounce back and forth, south, north, south, north,
02:47and that's how we end up with several rounds of rain
02:49hitting the same areas over and over again.
02:52All week, we're going to keep watching this,
02:54just the areas change a little bit,
