00:01Oh, boy.
00:21It's like Dan Miller getting in the face of a New Orleans fan
00:25or something like that.
00:26That's a ball game.
00:30Yeah, I'm sure they let our fans in the booth.
00:37Take that, Saints guy.
00:39I went to the booth yesterday or just before a kickoff
00:42and said hi to the guys and wish them luck on the call.
00:46It's funny.
00:47Walking in there, I think we all had the same feeling.
00:51We feel pretty good about this football team.
00:53Shake hands with Lomas, shake hands with Dan Miller,
00:56walk out of there, and then the game unfolds in the first half.
01:01You're like, where are the points?
01:02Where's the offense?
01:03What's going on?
01:04What am I seeing here?
01:05And then they, okay, second half starts.
01:08Here we go.
01:08This is what I'm used to.
01:09A couple touchdowns.
01:10Yep, yep.
01:10And then New Orleans starts to score.
01:13No.
01:13Right.
01:14It was a bit of a roller coaster in yesterday's game,
01:17and I hope that's not the case for the whole season.
01:22248-539-9797.
01:24Kang, you said last week, late in the week, week one is what, Kang?
01:29It's like the biggest lie in sports.
01:30Yeah.
01:31And you just, everyone's going to overreact,
01:33and everyone needs to calm down.
01:34I think it's a good thing.
01:35Listen, you don't want the wins to be like that.
01:37That's, you know, where you're waiting until the final play of the game,
01:40and things have been, they were up, and then they were down,
01:42and then you don't know what's going to happen,
01:43but you got the win, and you don't apologize for wins no matter how,
01:46because they're all really tough.
01:47Every Sunday's tough, and that's why I thought the Saints would be tough,
01:49especially week one, because you just don't know anything about anything.
01:53You don't.
01:54And so I just want to remind you, too, I'd rather be 1-0 than 0-1.
01:58Do you know last year the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots
02:01started the season both 0-1, the two Super Bowl participants, okay?
02:05Did they overreact and just pack it in and end the season?
02:07No, they had to get better.
02:08They had to work on things.
02:09They had to clean things up.
02:11Just like the Lions do, even though they're 1-0.
02:12They got to clean things up.
02:14I want your take on the one call I called in already and said,
02:17I think this is a reprieve.
02:18Yeah, that's ridiculous, honestly.
02:20He can feel how he feels.
02:21I wouldn't feel that way, and I wouldn't advise you to feel that way.
02:24But, yeah, man, the Saints also, I think the Saints are better than people realize.
02:29I picked them to win the division.
02:31It took a while for them to get going, obviously,
02:33but when they did get coined, they came back and tied up the game,
02:36and it was ridiculous, right?
02:37But there's a lot of things to work on.
02:39We don't know about the team yet, necessarily, but they're 1-0,
02:43and they got a short week, so they don't even have time to think about it, really.
02:46They got to move on to the Bills.
02:472-4-8-5-3-9-97-97.
02:50Time for our championship nominations.
02:51Brought to you by Sarah Chevrolet, Sterling Heights.
02:55Gator, my champion of the weekend is Jameer Gibbs.
02:57Total workhorse, 5.4 yards per carry, 156 yards rushing,
03:00and five more catches.
03:02Jameer Gibbs, my champion of the weekend.
03:06Doug, I went with U of M punter Cam Brown.
03:10Six of his seven punts went inside the 20.
03:13He had a couple of daggers inside the two.
03:15This was a tight game where field position was a difference maker.
03:19He was a huge difference maker.
03:22Reminded me a little bit of the Ohio State punter years ago
03:25who just kept doing that to Michigan State.
03:28Dagger after dagger after.
03:30He had like five kicks inside the five-yard line.
03:32It was insane.
03:32My jump on the weekend is the Browns.
03:35That was ugly.
03:36Watson situation is bad.
03:39Threw a pick, fumbled the ball as well.
03:41Detroit, we have our challenges here with this football team in Detroit,
03:44but that Cleveland situation looks ugly.
03:47That does not look good.
03:49Curious what's going to happen week two for the Browns.
03:51The soccer continues.
03:53It's a soap opera.
03:54It's great.
03:54My jump is Ryan Day, coach of Ohio State.
03:57Man, you have a lead of 20 points on the road in Austin, Texas,
04:06and you can't hang on to it.
04:08And when you're the number one team in the country,
04:10it's expected that you hang on to a 20-point lead.
04:13I think this is the largest lead that a number one team has lost in a game.
04:20So, that was not good for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
04:24Do you know how chesty the Big Ten would be today if Michigan beat Oklahoma
04:28and Ohio State beat Texas?
04:31Do you know how the narrative would just be,
04:34well, there's the Big Ten again.
04:36I was feeling pretty chesty on Saturday night when that thing was going on.
04:39I'm like, wow, Ohio State's really putting it on them.
04:41This is great.
04:42And then the fourth quarter happens.
04:43What just happened?
04:442-4-8-5-3-9-97-97.
04:47Get your championship votes in as we get back to your phone call.
04:50Scott's in Redford, and he's on 97.1.
04:51Hello, Scott.
04:53Hey, how are you guys doing today?
04:54Good.
04:56All right.
04:57My champ is the Lions offense in overtime.
05:01Everybody showed up, even J-Mo, who, like you guys were mentioning a little earlier,
05:07came through that big catch to get us down near the goal line.
05:11And my chump is all these people acting like the sky is falling.
05:17I mean, yeah, are there things you need to clean up?
05:20Sure, but it's week one in the NFL.
05:22Take the win, you watch film, you improve.
05:25The sky is not falling.
05:29I just think people are going crazy.
05:31There might be some of that going on.
05:33And, you know, Dan Campbell was all over it in the postgame.
05:39Oh, yeah, we got a lot of stuff tightened up, and we will.
05:41Like, he is adamant that they will, and we'll find out.
05:44Look, the challenge doesn't get any easier going on the road to Josh Allen and the Bills.
05:49But, you know, getting the win is what's most important.
05:52It does feel as though there is a degree of panic through Detroit.
05:57There were things that people were concerned about, and those concerns seem justifiable.
06:01After one week, what's really strange to me, what I did not expect, was J-Mo to fight the football
06:07so much.
06:09You know, sure, you're going to drop a pass here and there, and last year, according to Pro Football Reference,
06:13he had the most drops in the NFL.
06:16But I didn't expect four and a fumble in game one.
06:20I mean, think of what a different game it is.
06:22Just the first one, the first deep one, when they're up 7-0, I think it was up 7-0,
06:26and he drops that first one.
06:27You're like, oh, yep.
06:29How different does that look?
06:31I mean, it's an absolutely perfect pass.
06:33It validates everything we've heard.
06:35And whether that would have been a touchdown or not, I don't know, because there was decent coverage on it.
06:40But nonetheless, it would have been a massive play for the offense.
06:43Okay, before I forget, we have Jared Goff today at 11 a.m., and we have Aiden Hutchinson at 11
06:49.30.
06:50It's a short week.
06:51Schedules get jumbled, and this is what we're going to get, and it's fine.
06:53But we do like the fan questions.
06:57If you have a question you would like asked of Jared Goff or Aiden Hutchinson,
07:02last week our question for Goff was fantastic from the fan.
07:07So if you want to get a good question in, football-related or not, send it over, and Kang will
07:14sift through them.
07:15And if we find one that we think will work well, we will ask that question of Jared Goff or
07:21Aiden Hutchinson.
07:22Be sure you sign your text so we can give credit where credit is due.
07:25But last week's question we loved, and for people who missed it, it was of Jared Goff,
07:32which teammate would you trust to babysit your one-year-old daughter, and who would you not trust?
07:36So we will – and his answer was great.
07:39But Panay and – was it Panay and Derek Barnes he would trust, and Jameer he wouldn't?
07:44After watching yesterday, I would trust Derek Barnes.
07:47Derek Barnes was awesome.
07:48Oh, with the Spider-Man thing?
07:49Oh, dude, with his kid.
07:50For the game thing?
07:51Yeah, dressed like Spider-Man, in a full Spider-Man suit, and his kid, same thing, showed up that way.
07:56Anyway, get your questions over for Jared Goff or Aiden Hutchinson,
08:00and we'll try and find one or two that we can ask the guys.
08:04So 2485-399797, sign your text.
08:08Let's go to Maurice in Detroit.
08:09You're next on 97.1.
08:10Hello, Maurice.
08:11Hey, how you doing, guys?
08:12Love the show.
08:14Love the Lions game that I saw.
08:16It was a really great game.
08:18Very intense.
08:19I was just wanting to ask you guys, do you think maybe because of, like, the entertainment that we're watching,
08:25because of sports betting, the Lions kind of just kind of turned it down?
08:29You know, like how you do a parlay, you take the Saints plus three, and then all of a sudden,
08:34if you did do that, you win.
08:36Do you think – my question is, do you think sports gambling has any part of what happened in the
08:41game yesterday?
08:43Do I think that the players react to sports gambling?
08:47Yes.
08:48No.
08:48Do you think that has anything to do with how, you know, they let them catch up?
08:53I don't know.
08:54I guess the Lions just kind of got a little –
08:56Maurice, do you feel that way?
08:59You know, I'm trying to – I'm going to have to say maybe yes, because I'm trying to understand the
09:06sports betting thing.
09:07Like, what are we doing with the sports betting, you know, the point shaving and the –
09:12Are you betting, Maurice?
09:13Are you gambling, Maurice?
09:15Yes, I am.
09:16Okay.
09:16So, if you feel that way, then why bet?
09:19Well, you know, I bet on the Saints plus three, so I won.
09:23But I'm just saying, do we feel like maybe Vegas has something to do with how these games are going?
09:29Do you believe that any games are kind of fixed or rigged, is what I'm asking you?
09:35No.
09:36No?
09:37Okay.
09:37Well, I agree then.
09:39Well, let me just put it to you like this, Maurice.
09:41This is probably not one of the questions we'll ask off and on.
09:46I don't – I don't suspect it is.
09:49However, I will say that.
09:50Well, is it going to happen at some point?
09:52Sure.
09:53Do I think it had anything to do that Vegas and the spread had anything to do with what we
10:02saw on the field yesterday?
10:03I do not.
10:04Look, there are moments, I'm sure, where fan bases feel that way, without question.
10:08If you're the Green Bay Packers, you're probably feeling – and a Packer fan, you're probably feeling that way today
10:15after watching what happened to them last night.
10:16Probably feeling like what way?
10:18That things were fixed against the Packers for a while.
10:21There was – I was watching on Red Zone.
10:23King, I don't know if you were watching this either on Red Zone when the Packers were being featured against
10:27the Vikings.
10:28And there were like four or five plays on a single drive that went against the Packers' defense, which, by
10:36the way, were pretty much legit.
10:38But Packer fans had to be apoplectic about what was going on because it was like another – they had
10:43another stop.
10:44Oh, wait a minute, here's a questionable defensive holding call.
10:47Here we have a stop.
10:48Oh, wait a minute, they're calling – he put the weight on the quarterback, Carson Wentz, when he took him
10:53to the ground.
10:53Things like that.
10:54I can see fan bases getting bent out of shape and thinking the world's against you.
10:58But do I think that this is a conspiracy?
11:02No.
11:02Jared Goff at 11 a.m., Carson Anderson, 97.1.
