00:00until he leaves until he's benched this is just what we have to put up with and it's not fair
00:06to
00:06us as browns fans that we have to put up with this kind of stuff week in and week out
00:10and it's not
00:11fair that in week one we're complaining and we're screaming about just a ridiculously terrible
00:18approach to uh to a week one game it's not okay but that's where we are right now because the
00:24browns have not decided to address the quarterback uh situation at all the other thing that franco
00:30pointed out there is is the communication or maybe a lot came from todd munkin todd munkin is and all
00:37of
00:37these coordinators are in their position for the very first time in their career i know todd munkin
00:43has been a head coach but that was a decade ago at southern miss a lot has changed in a
00:48decade and
00:49also you're at southern miss no disrespect to them but it's a little bit different here in the
00:54nfl so there's there's a lot of evidence as to why i don't believe that this team is going to
00:59be
00:59any better than a four and five win team i think that todd munkin is a really smart offensive mind
01:04i think that he's a good leader and he talked today and sounded a lot like a college coach
01:10frankly because they played like a college team against an nfl team but he was confident and optimistic
01:16and i'm okay with that to a certain extent for my head coach but he is working for the very
01:22first time
01:23in a real game setting as the head coach of an nfl team there's a lot of first here and
01:28there's too
01:28many question marks for me to feel comfortable with this being anything more than a four to five win
01:33team typically across the nfl and across sports when you have this many first this many unknowns
01:39how does it go it doesn't tend to go the way the commanders year one with jalen daniels or last
01:45year
01:45with the new england patriots and year one of mike vrabel there's a lot of questions here and there's a
01:51lot
01:52of things there's a lot of wounds that maybe have been covered up during preseason because it's not
01:56real football or during training camp because you're not going up against another team i think
02:01there are a lot of wounds today that were opened up and exposed not only with deshaun watson with the
02:07entire team and with todd munkin if he didn't put shador sanders i i understand what mike's saying
02:13and believe me my buddies and i were all calling for shador sanders well we were calling for him after
02:17the first interception but like midway through the third quarter being like dude this game's over
02:22deshaun watson is just making himself look worse and worse and worse every time the offense runs
02:28out on the field just put shador sanders in to at least get him a little bit of work
02:33if munkin is not putting shador in because he doesn't want to hurt somebody's feelings or because
02:40he doesn't want to invoke the idea of a quarterback battle we've lost the damn plot here that that is
02:45not
02:45something that a coach should be worried about you play your starters until the very end or until
02:51it looks like you really don't have a chance to win and then you i mean nick mullins played for
02:57the
02:57jaguars because they wanted to make sure that trevor lawrence was out of there it was totally fine for
03:02the jaguars he got a couple of drives in today just put shador in not in a hey we're benching
03:08deshaun
03:08watson but in a you have not performed well enough we are losing by a lot right now we need
03:15to at least
03:16move off of you this is still a very injury prone player i i think that todd could justify it
03:22from a
03:22football standpoint as to why shador would have gone in in the fourth quarter if it comes out that he
03:27did
03:27like i i would love to know as to why he didn't put shador sanders in i don't know if
03:31somebody asked
03:32maybe we'll we'll get to hear it tomorrow as well but like that can't be a situation the other thing
03:38mike talked about is just the most pathetic sad field goal to cut the lead from 31 to nothing to
03:4631
03:46to three that showed to me that todd munkin knows what he has out of deshaun watson knows what he
03:52has
03:52out of the offense right now and simply doesn't trust it i i think he's smarter to know that hey
03:5731 to 3 is no different than 31 to 0 and maybe it looks nice to have some points on
04:03the board
04:03but at the end of the day it's not going to matter i think he knew that if he rolled
04:07out the offense
04:08for a fourth down play they'd embarrass themselves even more than they already had or somebody would
04:12get hurt like i i just think that is the approach that he took with that that's a ringing indictment
04:17on your starting quarterback that you would rather put up a sad field goal and get andre schmidt
04:23some work other than believe in your starting quarterback the guy that battled it out against
04:29shador sanders and won this offseason you don't trust that guy to get you a fourth and five or a
04:34fourth and two at the 50 yard line i you know the punt uh earlier on in the game that
04:39is some of the
04:40most sad just pathetic stuff and i know that if the game was closer we'd be ripping that up and
04:46down
04:46even more but it just sort of gets lost in the sauce when you have a 31 point deficit what
04:52do we talk
04:52about all last year the offensive line was so bad we can't properly evaluate shador sanders and
04:57dylan gabriel because they're running for their lives the second that the ball is snapped this year
05:02it at least right now it's flipped and that is not okay and as an organization they do need to
05:09address that that is a great point by patrick that if i can come in here at six o'clock
05:14and start the
05:14show off by saying i wanted to see all of our rookies i just couldn't because the guy was too
05:19busily fiddling around with the football and screwing around in the backfield not doing anything
05:25good that's not okay because i'm trying to build up a super bowl level team or a competitive football
05:32team with this young core that i've built over the last two years that we all give andrew barry this
05:37beautiful basket of flowers for credit for as we should but now i can't evaluate them because the
05:43quarterback that you rolled out there this year is so bad that he's missing wide open guys that he's
05:49getting sacked that he's running into sacks because he's has no idea what he's looking at and he's
05:53running 90 yards behind the field of the line of scrimmage because he knows that he doesn't have it
06:00right now that is not okay that is not good that is dysfunction at his highest order if that is
06:06the
06:07case and you continue to roll deshaun watson out there if shador sanders is really that good or whatever
06:14we'll see him eventually but at the very least i believe that shador can give you some form of
06:20evaluation on the other guys whether or not he's going to be your 2027 starter or whether or not
06:25you're going to cut him by the end of the year i don't care i believe that shador is going
06:29to take
06:30enough of a shot and he's at least not a broken quarterback at this point like the other guy that
06:36you're going to roll out there for a second straight week is that i can evaluate the rest of the
06:41team
06:41that is the point of this whole thing that we need to address is that is the starting quarterback
06:47playing well no because it's the worst quarterback room in all of football but is he so bad that he's
06:53hindering the development of other players that he's putting these offensive linemen in bad spots
06:58to where spencer finneau and austin barber and parker brailsford when he eventually gets
07:02uh healthy enough they're not learning the correct things there's a dark cloud of deshaun watson
07:09over baria but he don't you don't want that to infect this next iteration of the team and a team
07:15that's built up really really well around the quarterback position is yes the reality that we
07:21as we as a team are not in a competitive like win now mode we're the second youngest team in
07:28the league
07:28there's starting rookies all over the place that's not a recipe for success jacksonville really good team
07:35tampa bay i know baker looked awful today but in many respects there's a there's so much talent
07:41all around that tampa bay buccaneers team but all off season as evidence as to why people thought that
07:47they would surpass their five and a half win total and why people were predicting them to get as many
07:52as eight and nine wins this season the schedule how easy the schedule is based on last year's records
07:58the browns have the easiest schedule in the entire nfl guys if you play like that and big seismic
08:05changes don't happen week in and week out which how often does that happen outside of pulling the
08:11shador card over deshaun watson it's not going to matter if you're playing the saints and the raiders
08:18and the dolphins every single week that product today i don't know if there's any team in the nfl that
08:24wouldn't beat you as bad as some of these teams are like the cardinals and like the aforementioned
08:30raiders and uh dolphins the way that y'all played today the offense was so stale the defense just got
08:37shredded up and down miles hardin and tyson campbell had awful performances today jared verse was you
08:44know press sim and and at the end of the day everybody was cracking jokes and miles garrett he was
08:49on a bad
08:50knee thursday night i guess friday morning in australia what's jared versus issue he had
08:54zero stats uh earlier today so should we start crapping all over him as well just like we did
09:00with miles garrett up and down the roster they were awful awful awful play that's not going to win you
09:06games so i don't want to hear any more about how the browns have the easiest schedule moving forward
09:11and how eventually they're going to get to some really really bad stretches of teams that they can
09:15beat up on who's who's to say that we're not one of the worst teams in the nfl who's to
09:20say that we
09:21aren't truly at the level of the dolphins and the cardinals and the raiders people are saying that
09:27we're a middle of the pack team in the nfl and our schedule is going to play into that guys
09:31they played
09:32awful today all right i finally do want to get to shador sanders because he's he's this elephant in
09:39the room that people constantly are looking at like when when are we going to go to shador sanders
09:45it's not so much that he's the more popular quarterback than deshaun watson it's that if
09:50deshaun is going to consistently put out products like this and you don't think that he's going to
09:55get you know suddenly better in one week seven days before that tampa bay game next week when are we
10:02going to go to shador sanders there was one question rattling in my head constantly every time
10:09deshaun watson threw an incomplete pass fumbled the ball threw an interception whatever it was
10:14i just kept thinking how bad is shador sanders that we are forced to sit through this right now
10:22and for however many weeks moving forward and they're not confident enough to turn to him if it
10:29was true like another caller said that they wanted to put shador sanders in and at the end of the
10:34game
10:35like whether or not you invoke a quarterback battle do they just not trust this kid whatsoever
10:41has he just not progressed at all yeah he had some good moments last year but the fact of the
10:47matter is he lost out to deshaun watson so everything bad that you see and that you hear about what's
10:54going on with deshaun on the field think about the fact that shador couldn't beat that out so all of
11:01us
11:01are clamoring for shador sanders and that's great and i'd much rather watch him lead an owen 17 season
11:07than deshaun watson for one more week but i don't think that turning to shador sanders is going to
11:12suddenly make this team better or closer to middle of the pack like some of us believe
11:17if shador was really that good he would have won the starting job this was the lowest bar in the
11:22nfl to
11:22clear and shador sanders didn't do it and that's why he's the backup quarterback right now
11:26you
11:26Here we go.
