Meg and Icarus are holding up the camp next to the walking area, and Kevin Richardson has to find a way to move them so the other animals can go out. After a temporary ramp fails and the weather makes the setup even trickier, the team has to rethink the whole plan for this lion moving saga.

The solution turns into a careful sanctuary shuffle: Naobi and Echo are moved first, Nikita is kept safe in the night area, and Sabundi is walked through the corridor with chunks of meat because she is a wild lion and not easy to handle. Kevin then tries to get Meg and Icarus to cooperate, but Icarus is grumpy, possessive over scraps, and eventually decides he has had enough for the day.

This is a real-life big cat relocation and wildlife sanctuary management episode with patient handling, problem-solving, and close-up lion behaviour. It captures the challenges of moving lions between camps, working with older animals, and adapting when the first plan does not work.

Created for viewers searching for lion rescue and relocation content, wildlife sanctuary videos, big cat behaviour, animal handling, and Kevin Richardson wildlife episodes. It also fits searches for nature documentary style animal management, lion walking camp moves, and behind-the-scenes sanctuary problem solving.

00:00Nicely. Yeah, nice. That's a good boy. Like the Pied Piper.
00:12So today we are going to be trying something a little bit different.
00:18For those who have been following recent videos, Meg and Ikki are refusing to vacate
00:27the camp that leads into the big walking camp which is really prohibiting me from taking other animals
00:33for walks. We have literally tried everything. We even built a temporary ramp. Now with all this
00:40weather unfortunately our ramp has got all soggy and a part of it has fallen away. I must just
00:47emphasize it was a temporary ramp and if it worked we were then going to look at building something a
00:52little bit more secure. However, Meg didn't even come up to go on the ramp or to use the ramp
01:02and
01:02Icarus has been acting up. He's been a bit strange lately. He is possessive over scraps of food
01:11that are not even food. He's possessive over bones, he's possessive over pieces of skin,
01:18bits of fat and growling and Meg is a little bit feeling a bit out of sorts because of it.
01:29And so we've we've hatched a plan. The plan is as follows. We're going to take this beautiful girl,
01:35hello Niobe. Niobe? We're going to take Niobe and her sister who are compliant, yes. You are compliant,
01:47yes. Oh, oh, oh. You're beautiful, yes. So we're going to take Niobe and Echo, we're going to shift them
01:58up
01:58one camp. They're going to load in the loading vehicle as per usual. Then what we have done is we
02:04have
02:05cordoned off the corridors here at the sanctuary with fencing. We're going to put precious Nikita
02:14in the night area so that she is safe and sound and away. And then what we're going to do
02:23is we're
02:24going to walk Sabindi. And for those of you who are new to the channel, you will know, well, for
02:31those of
02:32you who are new to the channel, Sabindi is actually a wild lion. So she is not tame. She does
02:39not come up easily.
02:41She's quite nervous and suspicious of people. But I have in the past been able to move her just with
02:49chunks of meat within the corridor, can get within 10 to 15 meters of her, no problem. And she hopefully
02:59will walk from that camp over there all the way here into this camp where Echo and Niobe are.
03:07Once we've done that, I will then get Meg and Icarus and walk them simply into the camp that's
03:13opposite the camp that they're in now. That's the camp where Sabindi is. That's the plan guys.
03:32Come. Come. Come guys. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hello my darling. Looks like you're in a better mood today.
03:48Are you in a better mood today? No jumping required. Eh? Aren't we nice? Yes. Yes. You look all wet.

07:58Charles?
07:58Yes.
07:59I'm not worried about him fighting with her anyway.
08:02Okay.

11:12Oh, boy
11:13When it rains, it pours
11:14I think
11:15Icarus looks like he's not seen
11:18That
11:19Well
11:21So
11:24We're gonna just go back to familiarity
11:26Which, which is, I think, what he wants
11:28He wants to go back
11:29To the camp
11:30And then we're gonna try and load him in the back of the car
11:33Yeah, boy
11:37Because that's what he's used to
11:40Okay, yeah
11:45Yeah
11:49Yeah, boy
11:50Ooh
11:51Ooh
11:53Ooh
11:54Yeah

12:05Yeah
12:07Iki
12:09Yeah
12:10Yeah
12:16Yeah
12:17Yeah, listen, my boy
12:18Yeah
12:19Yeah
12:29Yeah
12:51Yeah
12:52Yeah
12:54Yeah
12:57Yeah
12:59Yeah
12:59Yeah
13:02Iki
13:15Yeah
13:17Yeah
13:35Yeah, so that's the joys of working with old animals, guys.
13:54Guys, okay, so it takes a lot for us to give up, we're very persistent and we persevere,
14:03but Icarus is lying flat, a flat cat.
14:10The old man is tired, it's been way too much for him this morning.
14:14So, as the old adage goes, instead of throwing more good meat after bad, we're going to call
14:21it a day.
14:22We do have a plan, we always have a plan.
14:25And the plan is, is tomorrow morning, when Icarus is feeling fresh, George and I are going
14:31to drive in to the camp where he feels confident and familiar, we'll load him in the loading
14:39vehicle and hopefully Bob's your uncle.
14:44Anyway, that's the theory.
14:46We'll pick it up tomorrow.
14:49If you are mildly interested to see whether Icarus does decide to be reunited with Meg,
15:00I suggest you tune in.
15:01I suggest you tune in.
15:30You
