Kevin Richardson takes Thor’s pride of six lions on a relaxed enrichment walk, and the joy is instant as the gate opens and the group bursts into the open area. The lions are full of energy, with the girls staying close together while the boys roam, mark trees, and stir up a little trouble along the way. It’s a warm, playful glimpse of lion behaviour, body language, and social dynamics in the wild.

As the walk continues, the pride moves through roads, game paths, thickets, and muddy ground, chasing guinea fowl, pausing around smells, and navigating prickly bush. Kevin explains how the walk gives the lions space from one another, helps them work off energy, and mimics the exertion of a hunt before feeding time. The footage also captures small details like thorny terrain, paw sensitivity, and the way lions naturally choose easier paths.

This is a re-edited wildlife walk with unseen footage, offering a calm yet lively look at big cat enrichment, lion pride behaviour, and the daily care behind The Lion Whisperer. It’s ideal for animal lovers, wildlife documentary fans, and viewers who enjoy immersive safari-style animal footage.

For more lion behaviour, wildlife enrichment, big cat walking footage, and relaxing animal documentary content, this lion pride walk is a strong search match. It also fits searches for lion whisperer videos, wildlife sanctuary footage, and educational animal behaviour clips.

00:11I love that right good morning everyone today I'm going to be taking the six
00:20lions out on a walk that stores group it always puts a smile on my face when I
00:26see these guys having fun and I want you to have a look at the excitement in their
00:34faces and in their body language when I open that gate and let them run in this
00:39big area just have a look at that and if that doesn't put a smile on your face
00:43then I don't know what will who wants to go walking hmm yeah everybody's excited
00:54everybody especially the girls and here come the boys oh my goodness gracious me
01:00oh my goodness gracious me what's happening what's happening guys yeah
01:06everyone's happy hello yes yes yes yes just give me a second oh off you go just them
01:19having some fun
01:34okay it's really interesting to see how the girls all stick together and the boys
01:42go and try and cause trouble and mark the trees and do all the things that boys do
01:50what's interesting and nice about these walks is it also gives them a little bit
01:55of time away from each other so that's that's an important component to time
02:03away from each other we all know what it feels like to be cooped up in the same
02:08place as our loved ones every now and again we just need a little bit of space
02:12and this is what this does for these lions this gives them a bit of space and
02:16those who want to hang back can and those who want to run ahead can also
02:37there are just loving life a few guinea files in the tree that were on the ground that obviously makes
02:48for
02:49something you can hear them that makes for something cool to chase
02:58good fun chasing guinea file hello girls oh
03:29lions love roads I've spoken about this before why do lions love roads
03:33lions like roads well simple answer is it's easier to walk on so invariably a lion is
03:43going to use a road where it can alternatively it's going to use well used game
03:49parts so alternatively they'll use well well used game paths and then every now and
03:58again if they really have to they're going to they're going to trundle across the bush which is not
04:04always the ideal
04:15they've got a lot of energy today so they've set off on a very very very intense pace
04:25and uh I haven't walked for a little while
04:42hence why all the excitement huh
04:45have to go guys oh oh oh oh oh
05:15on the prowl.
05:38Crazy cats, certainly in and out, in and out, in and out of the bushes.
05:54Crazy cats in the woods, in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out,
06:19in
06:19and out, in and out, in and out, in the woods.
06:53The line's pug marks, very distinctive, I can get to that just now, I just want to keep
07:03on following, it's very sludgy here as the water starts to recede.
07:13As we're going into autumn, what have we found, so that's a, it looks like an active porcupine
07:39borough, that obviously is filled with smells, and that attracts them there, so go and have
07:46a quick look, energy, what have you found?
08:07Let's see, come, here, oh, yeah, come, here, oh, yeah, come, come, come, come, come, come,
08:21keep, keep, right, we'll catch them on the other side, boys are hanging just a few meters
08:33behind us, I'll catch up with them now, oh man, into a spider's web, it's between the spider's
08:47webs and the blackjacks, don't know what's worse.
09:08Okay, you can see, they've already slowed down tremendously, the energy levels have been curbed,
09:20and, yeah, oh, you've got a bit of a lump there, I think she was bitten on her back, one
09:29of the
09:29others, been in a scrap, guys mustn't fight, eh, not good.
09:48Oh, you funny things.
10:03Oh, prickly, prickly, okay, go around, go around.
10:09So even though a lion has very nice thick soles, like we would have my nice thick hiking
10:23boots so I can walk over the thorns, but even, having said that, even though they've got these
10:28nice thick paw pads, they can still be quite sensitive to thorns.
10:36So they do walk gently, another reason why they like to stick on paths, makes more sense.
10:44Okay, let's go, come.
10:51Nezhi, nezhi, nezhi, nezhi, how are you, my darling, eh?
10:59Haven't even said hello, you're rude, you are, you're rude.
11:14A good example of running through the bush, because she's seen a guinea fowl, and that
11:23is, that is well worth chasing.
11:35Hey, Mr guinea file.
11:45Yeah, not in the mood for games, eh?
11:47Heh, heh, heh, heh.
11:49Let's go.
12:25There's one lagging behind, I think she's got a thorn in her foot, so if they do get thorns
12:38in their feet, all they do is they use their incisors and they grab onto them and pull
12:45them out.
12:49They're beautiful.
12:51Oh!
12:59Okay, almost through this thicket.
13:05Once we pass through the thicket, there should be a road here.
13:12We can continue walking on the road, I see the boys have joined us.
13:16They're now leading.
13:21Now I'm sweating because actually it is quite hot and humid.
13:26A bit of humidity.
13:28Weird weather.
13:29It's sunny, not a cloud in the sky today, but a little bit of a nip.
13:37By the same token, we have quite high humidity.
13:42Hello my girl.
13:45Alright, let's go.
14:04Oh!
14:08I thought I was saying to Jubes, don't even think about it.
14:14Don't come and steal my pheromones.
14:19Yeah.
14:22We're going to get him roaring.
14:24Hello big boy.
14:25Oh!
14:27Pudududududu!
14:54There comes Lola and she's gonna get stalked
15:01and everyone's back. I'm not even bothering running down the road. This is how you make lines
15:18fit and it's important this kind of exercise because not only do they go back to their usual
15:27areas and sleep better but it works up an immense appetite and then they eat. So this is almost
15:37in a sense mimicking the energy expenditure of a hunt. So let them run, let them run, let
15:44them run, let them get exhausted and then you know once they're exhausted you can feed them.
15:51So they'll be fed tomorrow. So they can work up a little bit of appetite today and then
15:57tomorrow, yeah. Okay guys, I think we should head down this way hey? Come. Yeah naughty. You're
16:07a naughty porty. Naughty porty. I love old Jubari. She sits there and waits for my recognition.
16:23She sits there and she says, can I go this way Kev? Like yeah, let's go that way. And she's
16:32happy.
16:34Alright, so this is more my pace guys. This is a better pace, slightly more relaxing.
16:48Beautiful. Just beautiful. Having fun. And they don't want me to lead. If I start to lead,
17:09they start to run. Girls love to lead. Neji behind me. Come Neji. Come on. No.
17:30Oh, I need to get back. Let's go.
17:36Poo.
17:45Okay, let's go.
