Moving day at the sanctuary turns into a careful, chaotic morning as Kevin Richardson and George shift lions into new camps, one group at a time. As the pride gets older, loading and relocating them becomes more tricky, especially with strong personalities like Thor, who needs a very specific approach to get everyone in safely.

The day includes moving Thor’s group, fetching Vieti and Jenny, planning for Khan, and making another attempt with Icarus and Meg. Kevin also explains why Icarus has been unstable on his feet after a recent trial with new neurological medication, and why the team has already stopped that protocol and returned to an earlier one under close veterinary guidance. It’s a candid look at wildlife care, big cat handling, and the reality of working with lions at a sanctuary.

For viewers interested in lion sanctuary life, big cat care, wildlife rescue, animal behaviour, and behind-the-scenes conservation work, this is a grounded and personal update. It also offers a rare look at lion moving day, veterinary monitoring, and the challenges of handling older lions in a calm, practical way.

11:23Icky!
11:37Icky, Icky!
11:52Wow, poor fella.
11:55Alright guys, so you may be wondering why is Icarus unstable on his feet.
12:02So we recently tried him on some new meds and it's been day four.
12:11So the meds that we were trying him on and it was literally like this is a last ditch attempt
12:20to see if we can have a breakthrough with Icarus because we've been trying different protocols.
12:29And the drug that we used is neurological and it's definitely affecting him neurologically.
12:38So there's almost like a paralysis of the hindquarters.
12:41So we stopped that immediately but the residual effects are going to last a few days.
12:46But I'm super impressed with Icarus that he actually got in because yesterday he was literally stumbling around like a
12:55drunk person.
12:58So yeah, it's a bit of a trial and error guys.
13:03I'm pretty sure we're going to have a few comments.
13:07But trust me we are in the good hands of our tried and tested vet Doc Caldwell
13:14and we have thorough, thorough discussions about the protocols.
13:22And we both, you know, ultimately I will say this, the end decision lies with me.
13:29I'm the one that says, okay, let's give it a go.
13:31And then we monitor very, very strictly.
13:37And yeah, we, as I say, we stopped the regime as soon as we noticed any side effects.
13:44We'll let that work off a bit and we're going to put him straight away back on his first protocol
13:49out of the three that we've tried, which seems to have been the best for Icarus.
13:54But guys, it's, yeah, it's at that point in time where there's not much more we can do for Icarus.
14:03And it's sad, but that's, that's what happens when, when these lines live that long.
14:23Okay, come Miggy, yeah, Mig.
14:30Come.
14:37Come.
14:41That's a good boy.
14:43Nice.
14:44Nice.
14:54Well done, Nicky.
14:55Good boy.
14:59All right, guys.
15:01Next up.
15:01Excellent.
15:01Ko and Niobe.
15:04Hello, you two.
15:05Oh, oh, oh.
15:41Okay, I'm good.
15:47That's awesome.
15:48Good boy, guys.
15:51I'll be sharing a few more videos with your little work.
15:51Kind of nice.
15:51Yeah, it was so weird.
15:52Any other purpose I can figure out a little bit?
15:52Yeah, you're good, dude.
16:00Nice.
16:01Okay,こう we'll do that.
16:04All right guys so that was a pretty busy morning. The only two groups I didn't get to move around
16:11which I will is Bobcat and Gabby and George and Yame. Those will be pretty easy to move
16:21but I just ran out of time today so look out for that video. And yeah all that's left for
16:30me to say thanks for watching and until next time from me Kevin, bye!
17:00you
