A mysterious $150 million superyacht has become the talk of Marina del Rey after arriving in Los Angeles with its name deliberately covered up. But despite the attempt at secrecy, locals quickly connected the enormous vessel to “Harry Potter” creator J.K. Rowling, reportedly identifying it as her yacht, Samsara.
The 290-foot yacht has reportedly been docked at the marina since Sunday, attracting attention because of its massive size and hidden identity. Locals even described the ownership as “the worst kept secret on the Marina.”
Built by Oceanco and delivered in 2015, the yacht was originally known as Infinity before changing hands several times. Rowling reportedly purchased the vessel in 2023 and renamed it Samsara, a Sanskrit word associated with wandering or the cycle of life.
The luxury yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests alongside a crew of 26 and reportedly features a cinema, circular swimming pool and beach club. With an estimated value of $150 million, it also comes with potentially eye-watering annual running costs.
For now, Rowling herself has not been publicly spotted aboard the yacht.
