00:00And kind of explain what you wanted to do with that piece and why you wrote that piece.
00:06You know what?
00:07I think the fans deserve, Clipper fans specifically, they deserve something more.
00:15The Clippers have been much maligned throughout my life as second fiddle here in the city.
00:21They're always the butt of the joke.
00:23And for once, once you get past the sports arena days, once you get past Donald Sterling and all that
00:34entailed,
00:35here comes Steve Ballmer at the tail end of Lob City.
00:38And it looked as if the fortunes of the franchise was going to turn around.
00:43They build their own stadium, their own arena to get out of the shadows of the 17, 18 winners that
00:52hangs inside of Forever Staples.
00:54I would not refer to it as its current name.
00:59And even though I've referred to Intuit Dome as the sports arena with bells and whistles, I say that in
01:07jest.
01:07It's only for everything that has transpired since 2019 when Kawhi Leonard signed with the Clippers to be all smoke
01:19and mirrors.
01:19And I feel so bad for any person that genuinely supports this franchise because you see how much the organization
01:33is in disarray from top to bottom.
01:35I heard John, you know, refer to, you know, Lawrence Frank as a snitch.
01:40Lawrence Frank saved himself.
01:42He did.
01:43I think he saw the writing on the wall and was like, hey, in the event that I want an
01:48opportunity to get another job, I need to be forthcoming and tell the truth.
01:53Listen, if you think that the Clippers are the only organization to do something like this, I have a loft
02:03on Century and Grape Street in the middle of Watts with a fantastic view of downtown Los Angeles to sell
02:12you.
02:12Listen, this is so pervasive in the world of sports.
02:17Billionaires do not become billionaires because they're altruistic or they're just, you know, above ground.
02:25This is the price that every, any person that has a B after their name, this is the price of
02:33business.
02:34This is how you amass wealth.
02:37This is how you accumulate power.
02:38It's in the shadows and it's often done at the, at the, at the expense of, of, of people beneath
02:49them.
02:49And I hate using that word because I don't believe in social stratification, but go check out the article.
02:55By all means, my DMs are open.
02:58My comments are open.
02:59If you disagree, by all means, let me know.
03:01But I think what is happening in Los Angeles, as it pertains to the world of sports, is just a
03:10canary in the cold mine.
03:11For so many people, they want politics and economics to be separated from their sports.
03:17Newsflash.
03:18It is impossible.
03:20It has been and forever will be inextricably intertwined.
03:25Politics and sports goes hand in hand.
03:28And I think what we're starting to see is the machinations of how business is conducted as it pertains to
03:36the world of billionaires, millionaires in these, these franchises in leagues where it's a billion dollar industry.
03:48And so it's, I think this is just the tip of the iceberg, man.
