00:00Hand, foot, and mouth disease this entire week, right?
00:03And as dads and my children have had it, it actually had a canceled whole trip around it.
00:09I'm seeing all these people online that are complaining about, oh, betting implications, this and that.
00:13I'm thinking, the first place my mind is going is because Scotty said he almost shook Cam Young's hand.
00:18And I'm sure he communicated, you know, this to Cam in advance, like, hey, kind of, you know, give yourself
00:23some distance here, right?
00:25Like, if I'm playing with him, I'm like, I got three kids at home, all right?
00:29Like, I'm not trying to have hand, foot, and mouth go back into my house.
00:33And so then it got me thinking about the mechanics of your scale of displeasure with how sickness enters your
00:41household.
00:41Like, I think as parents, we're all, you know, the first place we go is people sending their sick kids
00:47to school, to daycare, and getting your kids sick.
00:49That's the thing that's most frustrating.
00:51But if you get your buddy sick or your buddy gets you sick, and then that makes its way to
00:56your kids, how do you feel about that?
00:58Like, if Cam Young goes home and has hand, foot, and mouth, where's your level of outrage there as a
01:03father?
01:04It's like how everyone in your home became sick.
01:08Yeah, that would be tough, you know, if he shook the hand, because it seems like that's how it's super
01:13contagious from what I understand.
01:16Or at least it is in the play pens at all these daycares when it gets going.
01:21The ball pens.
01:22Well, I can tell you that on Thursday, when I watched Scotty, I walked 18 holes with him, and he
01:28just looked off.
01:29There was something about him that was off.
01:31It's not fun.
01:33I can tell you that he just wasn't himself out there.
01:38You could tell, like, something was bothering him.
01:40I thought it was just kind of a cold of some sort, and I don't know what hand, foot, mouth,
01:44besides the details that he gave us, which was that he had, like, blisters in his throat, which was super
01:51uncomfortable.
01:51His hands were – it was somewhat painful for his hands to be able to kind of grip the club
01:56the way he wants to grip it.
01:58But – and I'm not saying that, like, Scotty needs to, like, talk to me out on the golf course,
02:03but from past experiences, how we typically greet each other if we're going to say hello.
02:11You know, I mean, I know my spots.
02:12Like, I know when to say hello to these guys when they're working.
02:16There's times – time and a place for it.
02:18And he got off to a poor start.
02:20He had three-putted the third hole.
02:22He was, like, four over through seven holes.
02:24So it was one of those days that I felt like I wasn't ever going to say anything to him
02:28throughout the day.
02:29But even when we were close enough to each other where he would sometimes say what's up, he was just,
02:34like – he was in another world, man.
02:38So I can imagine that he wasn't feeling great.
02:42And so the only thing I could probably explain now, some of the shots that I saw from him this
02:48week, is that it just looked like to me he didn't have a whole lot of feel.
02:53And when you talk about hand, foot, mouth, and now I'm reading that his hands were bothering him, I'm like,
02:57oh, well, that makes sense why the guy who probably has some of the best hands since Tiger Woods didn't
03:04look like he had great hands.
03:05And there was times we saw that this week.
03:09I'm just trying to remember – I remember having, like, a mild case of it when my kids brought it
03:13in and what the form of he found was.
03:15I remember you saying that.
03:15I remember you getting it.
03:17And just trying to think of how far into Tour Championship Week he's going to extend as we think about
03:24the very real implications of player of the year discussions and things like that.
03:27Because, I mean, I don't recall it.
03:30It had an intense – when you were sick, you were very sick.
03:34But there was sort of like a trailing period to it as well that we'll see.
03:39We'll see how Scottie's feeling when he reaches the land of the next week.
03:41Well, he's obviously super competitive.
03:45He even talked about, well, you know, I probably should have just withdrew.
03:48But he just wanted to uphold his commitment to the tournament.
03:51He's a defending champion.
03:52And he was playing really well.
03:54He just won by eight.
03:54He's like, well, if I can just kind of grid it out over the first couple days and, you know,
03:58get to the weekend.
03:59I know I'm playing well.
04:00I'll have a chance to win.
04:01And I know they're playing for a lot of money.
04:02And I think there will be a lot of players that would have looked at their position on the FedEx
04:07Cup and said, you know what, after 100 and whatever degree weather in Memphis for four straight days, I won
04:13by eight.
04:13I'll just see you guys in Atlanta, you know.
04:16But he – because especially that there was no reason for him to play other than just good old competing
04:23in pride.
04:24And it was actually a pleasant week in St. Louis.
04:26If it was much hotter, if it was 100 degrees like it was the week prior in St. Louis, he
04:31may have been like, eh, I don't know if I'm feeling quite up for this.
04:35But he played, and we'll see how it affects him next week if he's able to kind of keep that
04:42energy or find energy, really.
04:44Just fingers crossed.
04:46No hand, foot, and mouth cases in the PGA Tour daycare.
04:49That's all.
04:49That's our – that's – I understand we want to see Scottie there in full four.
04:54I'm just hoping no one –
04:55I'm sure there's a lot of – there's probably a lot of people that are listening to this right now
05:00that are thinking to themselves, what is hand, foot, and mouth?
05:04I can tell you I didn't know what hand, foot, and mouth was until I started having kids.
05:09And we – Francie's like, oh, blah, blah, blah.
05:12It's got hand, foot, and mouth.
05:12It's like, hey, what is that?
05:14Is that like chickenpox?
05:15What is this?
05:16It sounds like an actual barnyard disease, and I think that's where its origins are from.
05:20But, you know, the way it manifests itself is kind of – it's like – it is kind of like
05:25a derivative of chickenpox.
05:27It's kind of like a mini shingles type situation.
05:29Just very, very, you know, painful.
05:32It's a cousin of it, for sure.
05:34Yeah, yeah.
05:35Not fun at all for the kids, for the adults, for parents who have to stay home with them all
05:38day long, or for people who have to go play golf for their living, like Scottie Shufford did this last
05:42week.
05:43It doesn't make that many feel sorry for Scottie having to go play 72 holes at golf.
05:47People are like, eh, you know what?
05:48He'll be okay.
05:49He's fine.
05:50He's fine.
