00:00Smiley, we should get back to Scotty Shepard's win.
00:04He wins two of three events in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
00:08He does not, of course, win the BMW Championship,
00:10but, Smiley, he does have the joy being Bennett's dad,
00:13which probably even better.
00:15And caring for him while he has hand, foot, and mouth disease,
00:18I guess is the implied thing there.
00:20Maybe why he didn't go three for three.
00:22I was really hoping that that prediction on the show was going to come through.
00:25I got two notes on that.
00:26So, first note, about the hand, foot, and mouth.
00:30I was talking to Scotty on, oh gosh, probably, I think it was Friday,
00:36on like the 14th hole.
00:39And walking up to the green, I said,
00:41had you ever heard of hand, foot, and mouth before you had kids?
00:45He said, oh, heck no.
00:46Never heard of it before.
00:47So, it was just a classic case of new dad getting new experiences
00:52with what your kids bring home.
00:54So, that was confirmed.
00:56We talked about that on the prior episode,
00:58that there was probably no way he knew what hand, foot, and mouth was.
01:01So, confirm that.
01:04And, gosh, see, my brain's going to be a little bit numb to the end of the year.
01:10So, let me let that other thought come back to me.
01:12I'm sure it'll come back.
01:14There's a little excerpt of a quote I want to read from Scotty after this win,
01:17where he's talking, and it's just so relatable to that,
01:20is, you know, talking about traveling on the road.
01:21And parts of it are very tough when you're setting up pack-and-plays,
01:24tents in the middle of the night, sound machines,
01:26trying to get the air conditioning working when you're across the lawn,
01:30little stuff like that that people don't see.
01:32You and I were at a party after the 2024 Masters,
01:36and we were speaking to someone who was talking to us about Scotty Shuffler on the road.
01:40And in the midst of this amazing run that Scotty was going on,
01:43when Bennett was a newborn, he was like, he's staying,
01:46they're all staying in the same hotel room every night.
01:48Like, I think that is perhaps, as a dad, you know,
01:51we talk about this a lot on the show,
01:53but that's the coolest thing about all this.
01:55He's like, yeah, the family's coming with me.
01:57If that means wake-ups in the middle of the night,
02:00if that means hand, foot, mouth, that's the way we're doing it,
02:02and that's going to be the most important priority.
02:05And then if I can win some golf tournaments on the way, fantastic.
02:07I love that about Scotty Shuffler.
02:10A hundred percent.
02:11He had some great quotes about talking to Brian Harmon about traveling with kids.
02:15And Brian's like, dude, you should be loving this
02:18because, you know, my kids are in school now,
02:20and now it's just me on the road,
02:21and they have their own activities they're doing at home.
02:24So before you know it, you're going to be just be solo out here.
02:27So enjoy it while you do have your family here.
02:30Also got to correct probably the hotel thing.
02:32I bet he might stay in a couple hotels a year,
02:35but most likely they're doing Airbnbs.
02:38So they-
02:38Oh, that's fair.
02:39Wherever they're sitting.
02:40Yeah.
02:40I didn't want anybody's brain just to go to,
02:43wow, that's every single week a hotel.
02:45Yeah, that would be insane.
02:47I think they got a little bit more space,
02:49but it did come back to me what I was thinking of earlier.
02:52Okay.
02:53And walking down the 18th fairway on,
02:56gosh, I think it was Friday.
02:58All the days are running together,
02:59but Scotty was trying to get close to a backhole location on 17,
03:03got gusted, ball ends up over the green,
03:06actually hit a great flop shot to like 15 feet,
03:08makes a bogey,
03:09but it was just a frustrating bogey.
03:11You could tell it was kind of bothered him.
03:13And walking down the 18th fairway,
03:15I look over there to the left,
03:17and I see the entire Shefford family over there.
