00:00You know, we're just results based before we kind of get into what he did well and, you know, where
00:05you land all these stat categories.
00:07How are you chalking up this year now that you know he's the guy that wins the FedEx Cup and
00:11that wins two or three playoff events?
00:13I believe he set the scoring average record.
00:15If I have that straight, I'm not sure exactly what that number was, but that that in itself is such
00:22an incredible accomplishment to be able to do that, even even with not having the wins.
00:27But then I wanted just to see how close he really was to winning more, because we talk about all
00:34the time it takes luck to win.
00:36And whether it's somebody playing good at the right time or him just not potentially closing out some events that
00:41maybe he should have.
00:42I thought it was interesting to go back.
00:44And in the second place, in his second place performances, the Masters, he only lost by a shot, which I
00:51think I almost go back and and almost feel like it was further than that, but only lost by a
00:56shot at the Masters.
00:57The 3M lost by three, lost in a playoff at the Travelers, of course, to Victor Hovland.
01:03That second place at Cadillac, that was a runaway by Cam.
01:06He lost by six there.
01:07RBC Heritage, he lost in a playoff there.
01:10I kind of had forgotten that him and Matt Fitzpatrick went into a playoff there.
01:14So there's two potential playoffs that could have gone his way.
01:18Fitzy hit a ton of incredible shots.
01:20I just remember the four iron he hit over there at the 18th, which is insane.
01:24And then Victor was just matching him shot for shot.
01:26And really, that rain delay was big for Victor.
01:29So you like you can kind of throw that in there.
01:31And then even like in his third place finishes, lost in Phoenix by only a shot to get into that
01:36playoff.
01:37And then actually, it was two shots.
01:39But and then I wrote on lost.
01:42I wrote Phoenix.
01:43Oh, Pebble lost by two at Pebble and lost by one at Phoenix.
01:46But so and then even the two other majors, like fourth of the US Open and third at the Open
01:52Championship and all those other stats that you mentioned about the other results.
01:57And you're just thinking to yourself, man, that is insane.
02:01And I know we always keep playing the comparison game to Tiger Woods, but my brain goes to what we
02:06heard from Butch Harmon in the interview that we had with him talking about Scotty Scheffler and how his mind
02:12doesn't go to Tiger Woods when he compares Scotty.
02:17He says he reminds me of Jack Nicklaus, the way how consistent he is, the way he plays the game.
02:22That's much more Jack than it is Tiger.
02:25And I thought about that and marinated on it for quite some time now.
02:29And now I can't unsee it.
02:30And when you look at all the stats and what he does week after week and you go back and
02:35look at the ridiculous Jack Nicklaus stats where he had 19 runner ups in major championships and then also the
02:4218 major wins.
02:43Dude, that's that's what Scotty's trajectory is in the sport because he's never out of it.
02:51Yeah, I mean, on the topic of stats, here's a sampling.
02:54We'll start with strokes gain for the year.
02:56So for the four main strokes gain categories, he was fifth off the tee.
03:00He was second in approach, which is interesting when you think of that was the thing we were pointing to
03:06is being a little bit off at some events, still finished a second in approach, 10th around the green and
03:10sixth in putting.
03:12And he was, you know, during the playoffs between like three and six for the year.
03:16And that's obviously the one that's made a huge leap and gotten to where he sort of is now.
03:20Here's a sampling of categories.
03:21He other categories.
03:22He led the tour in this year.
03:24Birdie average, bogey avoidance, scoring average, greens and regulation percentage and scrambling.
03:31His official money earnings this year were was just shy of thirty one million dollars.
03:36Second place in that category is Cam Young at 15.
03:39So if you doubled Cam Young's earnings this year, Scotty Scheffler still earn more money than him on tour.
03:45And it was noticed last week, career earnings.
03:48Tiger Woods is now in second in that category with just about one hundred twenty one million dollars.
03:52Scotty has made one hundred and thirty million dollars on tour lifetime.
03:57And I know obviously it's not all about the money here, but just an indicator of I think when you're
04:01trying to calculate for consistency like this year, when you when you are having a player of your conversation last
04:07week, that's is it Scotty?
04:09Is it Wyndham? And then you're looking at, you know, accumulation of all these high finishes and realizing he's doubled
04:14up the second guy on the list of official money.
04:16It's a great illustration of how good Scotty Scheffler has been this year.
04:20It's like a perfect pentagon, by the way, when you go and look at it, it's the perfect five tool
04:25play tool, you know, the baseball analogy brought up oftentimes.
04:29And you look at it in golf with all the five different categories it's measured.
04:33I mean, it's it's perfect. Like he's the perfect golfer.
04:36When you go build a player on the old Tiger Woods game, you're building Scotty Scheffler.
