00:00and so on saturday after that particular putt that scott was frustrated about he was asked about
00:04the setup of the golf course and whether he felt it was fair uh he had some comments here we're
00:08going to listen watch uh these right now and then uh react on the back end you know when i
00:13talk about
00:13some of the pin locations i think that has a lot to do with it when you have you have
00:16really really
00:17large green complexes like these and they tuck the pins very close to the edges it's it's a
00:21balancing act between how much you want to bite off and then you know it's like am i going to
00:25try
00:25and squeeze it into a pin where it's three yards off the edge and if i miss it on the
00:30short side i can't
00:31get up and down i'm gonna have 15 feet coming back and there's a lot of that out here there's
00:34a lot of
00:35pins that are on grain changes um you know there's certain holes where just guys are making a ton of
00:40pars like like the ninth hole you know the ninth hole i looked over the last few days and i
00:44actually asked
00:45in scoring today just because i was curious you've seen i think between 87 players going through over
00:51the course of of three days you've got 79 pars 79 pars at 87 players seems like a good hole
00:58seems
00:58high to me that seems very high so i it's almost like well i mean let's just skip it at
01:02this point
01:02you know if we're going to make par what's the point in playing the hole to be to be fair
01:05i had a five
01:06wood today and um you know part of its design part of its setup but i actually thought it was
01:11better
01:11from the back box because you might see a few more bogeys um but you know i i asked in
01:17scoring just
01:17out of curiosity and uh you know it was just a ton of pars again so i i don't love
01:22stuff like that i i love
01:23seeing rewards for good shots and and punishments for bad and i think sometimes um especially when you
01:29look at these modern golf courses they do a lot of the same stuff to to the golf courses they
01:32make the
01:33fairways bigger they make the greens bigger and then in order to protect par you know we shove the
01:37pins up against edges and that's why i think you see the scores get really close like they are this
01:41week
01:41and um like i said it's a balancing act between how much do i want to bite off like you
01:45look at
01:46like the 17th hole yesterday was a shot where i had a good number like the number hit a good
01:51shot
01:51i get a bad wind gust and all of a sudden i'm in a spot where i can't get it
01:53within i mean i hit an
01:54unbelievable pitch and i had you know 12 15 feet for par and in that moment you're like man i
01:59probably
01:59shouldn't attack there but at the same time it's like if you're in it to 15 20 feet a lot
02:04you know
02:04you look at like the like the what hole was it today the the 13th hole for me you know
02:10i'm a spot
02:10there left side of the fairway where pins in the back of the green you know it's three from the
02:14back right edge it's four from the the back edge and it's like wind swirling you know i'll just
02:19play it a touch short of it have a 15 footer hit a good putt and burn the edge and
02:22little stuff like
02:23that over the course of an event i think you know it can bring people closer together and like i
02:30said
02:30i'm not a fan of that when it comes to to setup for the first observation of mine coming off
02:37that is
02:37boy do i hope scotty shuffler gets into course architecture at some point because he seems to have a
02:41very distinct set of opinions and preferences
02:43you
