00:31Everybody wants to see, Browns fans want to see the Browns succeed.
00:35How do you succeed?
00:36You usually need good quarterback play.
00:38So if a guy can go out and play good quarterback and he's playing for the Browns,
00:43Browns fans are generally going to be happy.
00:46Some are going to not be pleased, period, and never be pleased.
00:50And haven't been since they made the trade for Deshaun.
00:53You're not going to win those folks over.
00:55I don't know that you can ever, and I don't know that you should.
00:58But, you know, some folks have different feelings on things.

01:02But the guy's going to be the starting quarterback.
01:04And my estimation, he's got about two games to show that he can do it.

01:09And if he, you know, if they look terrible in the first two games,
01:13well, then take what Todd Munkin said, best chance to move the football
01:16and score some points and throw that out the window.
01:18So if that's your best chance, what's that tell you about everybody

01:57is not going to come out of his mouth, and nor do I expect it.

02:37and, you know, I think he needed to, I mean, he does whatever he wants,
02:42but I just think the acknowledgement that it's not all fans that cheered him
02:47after his Achilles tour, you know, and he understands the investment
02:55that not only ownership made, front office made,
02:59but the investment that the fans make, too.
03:00He did point that out without saying, you know, this or that.
03:04I hope we all can move forward, and I think the only way it's going to move
03:08forward is if they go out and grab a couple wins on this first trip.
03:12As far as football is concerned, there are fans that will never like him.
03:16That is 100% from things that I've heard from other people.
03:21Again, Jeff, I think it goes back to Browns fans want to root for whoever's
03:27playing for, and you're hoping that you don't aggravate them so much that they
03:30don't want to root for the team anymore, although, you know, it's like the name
03:35change for the baseball team.
03:36It's like, I'm never coming back.
03:38We had a couple of folks, I'm never watching the Browns.
03:40I'm not.
03:40Well, I'm sure there are people who still feel that way about the baseball team name,
03:43and I'm sure there will be people who feel this way about Deshaun for the rest
03:47of their lives.
03:49Deshaun's going to start this week against Jacksonville on the road,
03:56and if you just listen to that, you might think, oh, okay, he's starting on the road
04:01against Jacksonville, and the reason why he gives us a better chance to score
04:05points and move the football.
04:07He did later say it's not a week-to-week thing.
04:10So, you know, if you just heard that comment and thought, well, wait a minute,
04:14he didn't say he's the starting quarterback of the team, and he kind of did later.

04:19Well, I think when he said not week-to-week.
04:21Yesterday he kind of alluded to he would name his week-one starter,
04:25and I think people were reading into that.
04:27But he said later on this is not a week-to-week thing.
04:31Yeah, no, it's not.

04:34Should it be a week-to-week thing?
04:35Oh, I think, isn't it every NFL player a week?

04:39And every play-to-play thing?
04:41I couldn't agree with you more.
04:42Joe Thomas is probably one of the few guys that have ever defied the odds
04:45on play-to-play, and then when it wasn't, it wasn't for Joe, right?
04:49And that led to retirement.
04:52It's still the NFL, and if you don't look good,
04:55sometimes you've got to go to the bullpen.
04:57Coaches don't like going to the bullpen.
04:59If it doesn't work, it's not going to work, and Shadour will be right there.
05:04Todd seems to like the progression, the emergence, how much better he's been,
05:10how he thinks he's getting better.
05:12And I thought the other thing that Todd said that I think is important to note,
05:19what we see is not what they see.
05:22And they see every practice, every play, every movement on the field open to the public
05:28or not open to the public.
05:29So what we might see on game night is not necessarily what they saw,
05:34especially when you look at last week in a joint practice on Thursday
05:37and what they see in practice every day.
05:40And by the way, the reporters aren't at every practice throughout the year.
05:44Certainly not in the meetings.
05:45No.
05:46And so, you know, like we don't know what they're discussing
05:49and how they come to their conclusions, but I do know this.
05:52Todd Munkin said, you know, the fans did not get taken into consideration.
05:57And to be honest with the kids, we shouldn't be when it comes to who will play.
06:03Of course not.
06:04Zero discussion on the fans and this decision.
06:07They don't decide who plays.

06:14You know, I don't care how much money he's making and everything else.
06:19If it doesn't go real well, if it blows up on him, he's probably toast.
06:24So he truly picked the guy that he thinks is going to give him the best chance
06:28to win football games.

06:35I'm not going to get mad at people who are going to –
06:37if you're negative about the organization,
06:39you have a trillion reasons to be mad about the organization.

06:44But I think that's what keeps us bonded as Browns fans is somewhere in this
06:49deep-seated misery that we have of an organization that has not given the fans
06:55what they've given – the fans have given the team.
06:59The fans have been there consistently year after year after year.
07:02And at some point, fans crack or they break or they don't want to hear players
07:07complain about them, the ones that have been coming, the ones that –
07:11and this – you know how – it's deep-rooted.
07:15It's – sadly, it's in our DNA.
07:18It's from the day that Art Modell told Paul Brown to take a hike.
07:22Right?
07:23That's – I mean, really, if you want to go back to when this whole thing started,
07:26that's where it was.
07:27I wasn't there for that, but I can see where the frustration and the animosity
07:32and people that want to be negative about the organization –
07:34look, there's a part of us that when they came back in 99,
07:37we're just glad that we had a team again.
07:39And we all know that.
07:41And we watch this franchise just struggle to put wins on the board
07:47year after year after year.
07:49So if you want to be a frustrated Browns fan
07:51and you want to be aggravated by what's going on,
07:54you have every right in the world to.
07:58Deep down, we all want this team to win.
08:00Just give us a reason to believe that they can win.
08:03I do believe that this roster is better than it's been in quite some time.
08:06There are plenty of reasons to be positive about it.
08:09But when you get a quarterback that was upset the way he was after the game
08:13the other day, you're like, oh, man, you're making it hard on us.
08:17You're just making it hard.
08:18But you know what?
08:19We're back every week like Lemmings watching at 1 o'clock on Sunday
08:23where the NFL thinks the Browns belong.
08:27Every week we're back and we're just kind of hoping,
08:29hoping that they can turn the page and give us the opportunity
08:33to understand what it feels like to live in Pittsburgh,
08:36to understand what it's like to win every once in a while,
08:40to Baltimore where the franchise – I mean, it's endless.
08:44The reasons you should be mad, and if you're still a Browns fan
08:47and you've made it this far, bravo.
