00:13In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be
00:23with you all.
00:25Dear brothers and sisters, today it is the great joy of the entire Church, and therefore joy for you and
00:32I,
00:33to celebrate the great solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven.
00:39At the end of her earthly life, by God's wonderful grace, she was assumed body and soul into that heavenly
00:47kingdom,
00:47that heavenly realm where God reigns, and where she, body and soul, is a sign for us of the wonderful
00:55future
00:56that God has in store for us in the resurrection of the body.
01:01And so, dear brothers and sisters, as we begin this celebration, let us acknowledge our sins,
01:06and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
01:14Lord Jesus, your mighty God and Prince of Peace, Lord, have mercy.
01:21You are Son of God and the Son of Mary, Christ, have mercy.
01:27You are the Word made flesh, the splendor of the Father, Lord, have mercy.
01:34May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.
01:43Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of goodwill.
01:47We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory.
01:56Lord God, Heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father.
02:01Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father.
02:07You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
02:11You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer.
02:15You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
02:19For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord.
02:23You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
02:31Amen.
02:31Let us pray.
02:35Almighty ever-living God, who assumed the Immaculate Virgin Mary, the Mother of your Son, body and soul into heavenly
02:43glory,
02:44grant we pray that, always attentive to the things that are above, we may marry to be sharers of her
02:51glory.
02:52Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
02:58God, forever and ever.
03:01Amen.
03:06A reading from the Book of the Apocalypse.
03:09The sanctuary of God in heaven opened, and the Ark of the Covenant could be seen inside it.
03:17Now a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman adorned with the sun, standing on the moon, and with the
03:24twelve stars on her head for a crown.
03:27She was pregnant and in labor, crying aloud in the pangs of childbirth.
03:32Then a second sign appeared in the sky, a huge red dragon, which had seven heads and ten horns, and
03:41each of the seven heads crowned with a coronet.
03:44Its tail dragged a third of the stars from the sky and dropped them to the earth, and the dragon
03:50stalked in front of the woman, as she was having the child,
03:54so that he could eat it as soon as it was born from its mother.
03:59The woman brought a male child into the world, the son, who was to rule all the nations with an
04:05iron scepter.
04:06And the child was taken straight up to God and to his throne, while the woman escaped into the desert,
04:13where God had made a place of safety ready.
04:17Then I heard a voice shout from heaven, Victory and power and empire forever have been won by our God
04:25and all authority for his Christ.
04:29The Word of the Lord
04:33The Queen stands at your right hand arrayed in gold.
04:37The Queen stands at your right hand arrayed in gold.
04:41The daughters of kings are among your loved ones. On your right stands the Queen in gold of Ophir.
04:47Listen, O daughter, give ear to my words.
04:51Forget your own people and your father's house.
04:54The Queen stands at your right hand arrayed in gold.
04:58So will the King desire your beauty?
05:01He is your Lord, pay homage to him.
05:04They are escorted amid gladness and joy. They pass within the palace of the King.
05:10The Queen stands at your right hand arrayed in gold.
05:18A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians.
05:22Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of all who have fallen asleep.
05:28Death came through one man, and in the same way the resurrection of the dead has come through one man.
05:35Just as all men die in Adam, so all men will be brought to life in Christ, but all of
05:40them in their proper order.
05:42Christ as the firstfruits, and then after the coming of Christ, those who belong to him.
05:49After that will come the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, having done away with
05:56every sovereignty, authority, and power.
05:59For he must be king until he has put all his enemies under his feet, and the last of the
06:06enemies to be destroyed is death.
06:08For everything is to be put under his feet.
06:13The word of the Lord.
06:17Alleluia, Alleluia.
06:18Mary is taken up to heaven, and the angels of God shout for joy.
06:24Alleluia.
06:29The Lord be with you.
06:32A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
06:35Glory to you.
06:37Glory to you.
06:38Mary set out and went as quickly as she could to a town in the hill country of Judah.
06:45She went into Zechariah's house and greeted Elizabeth.
06:50Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leapt in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the
06:57Holy Spirit.
06:58She gave a loud cry and said,
07:00Of all women, you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
07:07Why should I be honored with a visit from the mother of my Lord?
07:12For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy.
07:17Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.
07:24And Mary said,
07:25My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit exalts in God my Savior,
07:32because he has looked upon his lowly handmaid.
07:35Yes, from this day forward all generations will call me blessed,
07:39for the Almighty has done great things for me.
07:43Holy is his name, and his mercy reaches from age to age for those who fear him.
07:50He has shown the power of his arm.
07:52He has routed the proud of heart.
07:54He has pulled down princes from their thrones and exalted the lowly.
07:59The hungry he has filled with good things.
08:02The rich send empty away.
08:04He has come to the help of Israel, his servant mindful of his mercy,
08:09according to the promise he made to our ancestors,
08:12of his mercy to Abraham and to his descendants forever.
08:18Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months,
08:21and then went back home.
08:24The Gospel of the Lord
08:31I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth,
08:36and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
08:39who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
08:42born of the Virgin Mary,
08:44suffered under Pontius Pilate,
08:46was crucified, died, and was buried.
08:48He descended into hell.
08:50On the third day he rose again from the dead.
08:53He ascended into heaven
08:55and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty.
08:59From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
09:03I believe in the Holy Spirit and the Holy Catholic Church,
09:06the communion of saints,
09:08the forgiveness of sins,
09:10the resurrection of the body,
09:12and life everlasting.
09:14Amen.
09:29Amen.
09:31Amen.
09:33Amen.
09:36Amen.
09:37Amen.
10:26Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
10:40May this oblation, our tribute of homage, rise up to you, O Lord, and through the intercession of the most
10:46blessed Virgin Mary, whom you assumed into heaven, may our hearts, aflame with the fire of love, constantly long for
10:55you.
10:55Through Christ, our Lord.
10:59The Lord be with you.
11:01Lift up your hearts.
11:04Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
11:08It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Lord, Holy
11:14Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
11:18For today, the Virgin Mother of God was assumed into heaven as the beginning in image of your church's coming
11:26to perfection, and a sign of sure hope and comfort to your pilgrim people.
11:33Rightly, you would not allow her to see the corruption of the tomb, since from her own body she marvelously
11:40brought forth your incarnate Son, the author of all life.
11:44And so, in company with the choirs of angels, we praise you, and with joy we proclaim, Holy, Holy, Holy
11:53Lord, God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest.
11:59Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
12:11You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
12:14Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your spirits upon them like the twofold, so that they
12:21may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
12:26At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving thanks, broke it,
12:34and gave it to his disciples, saying,
12:37Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for
12:46you.
13:17In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more, giving thanks, he gave it
13:24to his disciples, saying,
13:26Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of
13:32the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
13:40Do this in memory of me.
14:15The mystery of faith, we proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.
14:23Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and
14:30the chalice of salvation, giving thanks, that he hath held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to
14:36you.
14:37Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the
14:43Holy Spirit.
14:45Remember, Lord, your church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Hope and
14:52Charles, our bishop, and all the clergy.
14:55Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have
15:01died in your mercy.
15:03Welcome them into the light of your face.
15:07Have mercy with us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her
15:13spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and all the saints,
15:16who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise
15:22and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
15:28Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all
15:35glory and honor is yours forever and ever. Amen.
15:46At the Savior's command, and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say,
15:50Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as
15:59it is in heaven.
16:00Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
16:08And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
16:13Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days,
16:18that by the help of your mere sin, we may be always free from sin, and safe from all distress,
16:25as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
16:30For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever.
16:34Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles,
16:36Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
16:39look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church,
16:42and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will,
16:46who live and reign forever and ever.
16:50The peace of the Lord be with you always.
16:53Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
16:56Peace be with you.
17:07Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
17:12Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
17:17Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
17:22And you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
17:52Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
17:56blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
18:00Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
18:04but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
18:08My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
18:13I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
18:18Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
18:21come at least spiritually into my heart.
18:24I embrace you as if you were already there,
18:26and unite myself wholly to you.
18:29Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
18:33All generations will call me blessed, for he who is mighty has done great things for me.
18:39Let us pray.
18:41Having received the sacrament of salvation, we ask you to grant, O Lord,
18:46that through the intercession of the blessed Virgin Mary,
18:49whom you assumed into heaven,
18:51we may be brought to the glory of the resurrection through Christ our Lord.
