00:13In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:19We acknowledge our sins, we acknowledge the compassion, the mercy, and the love of God.
00:24Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
00:30May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
00:36Let us pray.
00:38O God, giver of that ardour of love for you, by which St. Lawrence was outstanding faithful in service, and
00:46glorious in martyrdom,
00:47grant that we may love what he loved, and put into practice what he taught.
00:51Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
00:58God, forever and ever. Amen.
01:08A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians.
01:14Tin sowing means tin reaping.
01:18The more you sow, the more you reap.
01:21Each one should give what they have decided on their own mind.
01:26Not grudgingly, or because he is made to, for God loves a cheerful giver.
01:33And there is no limit to the blessings which God can send you.
01:38He will make sure that you will always have all you need for yourselves in every possible circumstance,
01:45and still have something to spare for all sort of good works.
01:50As Scripture says,
01:52He is free from almsgiving and gave to the poor.
01:57His good deeds will never be forgotten.
02:00The one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food
02:04will provide you with all the seed you want
02:07and make the harvest of your good deeds a larger one.
02:13The word of the Lord.
02:15Thanks be to God.
02:17Happy the merciful who give to those in need.
02:21Happy the merciful who give to those in need.
02:24Happy the man who fears the Lord,
02:27who takes the light in his commands.
02:29His children will be powerful on earth.
02:31The children of the upright are blessed.
02:34Happy the merciful who give to those in need.
02:37The good man takes pity and lends.
02:40He conducts his affairs with honour.
02:42The just man will never waver.
02:45He will be remembered forever.
02:47Happy the merciful who give to those in need.
02:51They have no fear of evil news.
02:53With a firm heart, they trust in the Lord.
02:56With a steadfast heart, they will not fear.
02:59They will see the downfall of his followers.
03:02Happy the merciful who give to those in need.
03:07Open-handed, he will give to the poor.
03:10His justice stands from forever.
03:12His head will be raised in glory.
03:16Happy the merciful who give to those in need.
03:20Alleluia, alleluia.
03:21I am the light of the world, says the Lord.
03:24Whoever follows me will have the light of life.
03:27Alleluia.
03:30The Lord be with you.
03:32A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.
03:35Glory to you, O Lord.
03:38Jesus said to his disciples,
03:39I tell you most solemnly,
03:42unless a wheat grain dies from the ground
03:44and falls on the ground and dies,
03:47it remains only a single grain.
03:49But if it dies, it yields a rich harvest.
03:54Anyone who loves their life loses it.
03:56Anyone who hates their life in this world
03:59will keep it for eternal life.
04:02If one serves me, they must follow me.
04:05Wherever I am, my servant will be there too.
04:09If anyone serves me, my father will honor them.
04:14The Gospel of the Lord.
04:17Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
04:20And St. Lawrence, of course, did just that.
04:23He gave his life for love, for the Gospel.
04:26He was a deacon, helping the poor, the marginalized,
04:31and he suffered under the pagan Roman persecutions
04:34and gave his life rather than deny his faith.
04:38or stopped doing what he was doing.
04:40We are reminded that we also need to die to the ego,
04:44the false self,
04:46to be born again in hope and new life in Christ.
04:50And of course, our own eventual physical death
04:53means that we move on to the fullness of life.
04:56So we thank God for the gift of faith
04:58and, like St. Lawrence, continue to be faithful,
05:02not just when it's easy,
05:03but when sometimes it is tough.
05:09Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
05:11for to your goodness we have this bread to offer,
05:14which earth has given, human hands have made.
05:16It will become for us the bread of life.
05:19Blessed be God forever.
05:39Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
05:41for to your goodness we have this wine to offer,
05:44fruit of divine work of human hands.
05:46It will become a spiritual drink.
05:49Blessed be God forever.
05:57Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
05:59that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable
06:02to God, our Almighty Father.
06:04May the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands
06:07for the praise and glory of God's name,
06:09for our good and the good of God's holy church.
06:14Lord,
06:18Lord, receiver,
06:19receive with favor
06:21the offerings we joyfully make
06:23on the feast day of St. Lawrence
06:25and grant that they may become
06:28a help to our salvation
06:30through Christ our Lord.
06:32Amen.
06:36The Lord be with you.
06:39Lift up your hearts.
06:42Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
06:47It is right and just.
06:51It is truly right and just
06:53our duty and our salvation
06:54always and everywhere
06:56to give you thanks,
06:57Lord, Holy Father,
06:59Almighty and eternal God,
07:01for the blood of your blessed
07:03martyr Lawrence,
07:04pulled out like Christ's
07:05to glorify your name,
07:07shows forth your marvelous works
07:09by which in our weakness
07:11you perfect your power
07:13and upon the feeble
07:15bestow strength
07:16to bear you witness
07:17through Christ our Lord.
07:18And so,
07:20with the powers of heaven
07:21we worship you constantly on earth
07:23and before you
07:24without end
07:26we acclaim
07:26Holy,
07:28Holy,
07:28Holy Lord,
07:29God of hosts.
07:31Heaven and earth
07:32are full of your glory.
07:34Hosanna in the highest.
07:36Blessed is he who comes
07:37in the name of the Lord.
07:39Hosanna in the highest.
07:41You are indeed holy,
07:43O Lord,
07:43the fount of all holiness.
07:45Make holy,
07:46therefore,
07:46these gifts,
07:47we pray,
07:47by sending down
07:48your Spirit upon them
07:49like did you fall
07:50so that they may become
07:52for us
07:52the body and blood
07:54of our Lord Jesus Christ.
07:58At the time
07:59he was betrayed
07:59and ended willingly
08:01into his passion,
08:02he took bread
08:03and giving thanks
08:04broke it
08:05and gave it
08:06to his disciples
08:07saying,
08:08Take this,
08:09all of you
08:09and eat of it
08:10for this is my body
08:12which will be given up
08:14for you.
08:20In a similar way
08:22when supper was ended
08:23he took the chalice
08:25and once more
08:26giving thanks
08:27he gave it
08:28to his disciples
08:29saying,
08:30Take this,
08:31all of you
08:32and drink from it
08:32for this is the chalice
08:34of my blood,
08:35the blood of the new
08:37and eternal covenant
08:38which will be
08:39pulled out for you
08:41and for many
08:41for the forgiveness
08:43of sins.
08:44Do this
08:45in memory of me.
08:53the mystery of faith
08:55we proclaim your death
08:57O Lord
08:58and profess your resurrection
08:59until you come again.
09:05Therefore,
09:06as we celebrate
09:06the memorial
09:07of his death
09:08and resurrection
09:09we offer you
09:10Lord the bread of life
09:11and the chalice
09:12of salvation
09:13giving thanks
09:14that you've held us
09:15worthy
09:15to be in your presence
09:17and ministered to you.
09:19Humbly we pray
09:20that partaking
09:21of the body
09:22and blood of Christ
09:23we may be gathered
09:24into one
09:25by the Holy Spirit.
