00:14In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be
00:23with you all and with your spirit.
00:25Dear brothers and sisters, as we gather now for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, we do so on this
00:32beautiful feast of the transfiguration of our Lord.
00:36We remember that episode in the life of Christ where he took his apostles, Peter, James, and John to Mount
00:43Tabor, and he was transfigured, transformed in their presence.
00:47It's also a prelude to his passion, so we offer this Mass today to ask for the Lord's light in
00:54our lives, especially as we go through tough and difficult moments.
00:59Offering this Mass, of course, for your intentions, but in a special way for Tom Higgins.
01:04Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
01:16You were sent to heal the contrite of heart, Lord, have mercy.
01:21You came to call sinners, Christ, have mercy.
01:26You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us, Lord, have mercy.
01:31May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
01:39Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of goodwill.
01:44We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory.
01:52Lord God, Heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father.
01:56Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son.
01:59Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father.
02:02You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
02:06You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer.
02:10You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
02:15For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord.
02:19You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
02:26Amen.
02:29Let us pray.
02:32O God, who in the glorious transfiguration of your only begotten Son,
02:39confirmed the mysteries of faith by the witness of the Fathers,
02:43and wonderfully prefigured our full adoption to Sonship,
02:48grant we pray to your servants, that listening to the voice of your beloved Son,
02:53we may merit to become co-heirs with Him,
02:58who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
03:02God, forever and ever.
03:04Amen.
03:09A reading from the book of Daniel.
03:14As I watched, thrones were set in place,
03:18and one of great age took his seat.
03:21His robe was white as snow, the hair of his head as pure as wool.
03:27His throne was a blaze of flames, its wheels were a burning fire.
03:32A stream of fire poured out issuing from his presence.
03:37A thousand thousand waited on him.
03:41Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
03:45A court was held, and the books were opened.
03:49I gazed into the visions of the night,
03:52and I saw coming on the clouds of heaven,
03:56one like a son of man.
03:59He came to the one of great age, and was led into his presence.
04:03On him was conferred sovereignty, glory, and kingship,
04:09and men of all peoples, nations, and languages became his servants.
04:14His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty,
04:17which shall never pass away,
04:20nor will his empire ever be destroyed.
04:23The Word of the Lord
04:29The Lord is King, the Most High over all the earth.
04:34The Lord is King, the Most High over all the earth.
04:38The Lord is King, let the earth rejoice,
04:40let all the coastlands be glad.
04:42Cloud and darkness are his raiment,
04:45his throne, justice, and right.
04:47The Lord is King, the Most High over all the earth.
04:51The mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth.
04:56The skies proclaim his justice.
04:58All peoples see his glory.
05:02The Lord is King, the Most High over all the earth.
05:06For you indeed are the Lord,
05:08Most High above all the earth,
05:10exalted far above all spirits.
05:12The Lord is King, the Most High over all the earth.
05:19A reading from the second letter of St. Peter.
05:23It was not any cleverly invented myths
05:27that we were repeating
05:29when we brought you the knowledge of the power
05:32and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
05:36We had seen his majesty for ourselves.
05:40He was honored and glorified by God the Father
05:44when the sublime glory itself spoke to him and said,
05:48This is my Son, the Beloved.
05:52He enjoys my favor.
05:55We heard this ourselves spoken from heaven
05:58when we were with him on the holy mountain.
06:01So we have confirmation of what was said in prophecies.
06:05And you will be right to depend on prophecy
06:08and take it as a lamp for lighting away through the dark
06:12until the dawn comes
06:15and the morning star rises in your minds.
06:19The Word of the Lord.
06:25Alleluia, Alleluia.
06:27This is my Son, my Beloved,
06:30in whom is all my delight.
06:33Listen to him.
06:35Alleluia.
06:39The Lord be with you.
06:42A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
06:46Glory to you, O Lord.
06:50Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John
06:54and led them up a high mountain
06:56where they could be alone.
06:58There in their presence he was transfigured.
07:03His face shone like the sun
07:05and his clothes became as white as the light.
07:10Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them.
07:13They were talking with him.
07:16Then Peter spoke to Jesus,
07:18Lord, he said,
07:19It is wonderful for us to be here.
07:23If you wish,
07:24I will make three tents here.
07:27One for you,
07:28one for Moses,
07:30and one for Elijah.
07:32He was still speaking
07:34when suddenly a bright cloud
07:36covered them with shadow.
07:38And from the cloud,
07:39there came a voice which said,
07:41This is my son,
07:44the beloved.
07:45He enjoys my favor.
07:49Listen to him.
07:51When they heard this,
07:53the disciples fell on their faces,
07:56overcome with fear.
07:58But Jesus came up and touched them.
08:01Stand up, he said.
08:04Do not be afraid.
08:06And when they raised their eyes,
08:09they saw no one but only Jesus.
08:13As they came down from the mountain,
08:16Jesus gave them this order.
08:18Tell no one about the vision
08:21until the Son of Man
08:23has risen from the dead.
08:26The Gospel of the Lord.
08:28Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
09:05The Gospel of the Lord.
09:07Amen.
09:48Pray, brothers and sisters,
09:50that my sacrifice and yours
09:51may be acceptable to God,
09:53the Almighty Father.
09:54May the Lord accept the sacrifice
09:56at your hands
09:57for the praise and the glory of his name,
09:59for our good and the good of all,
10:01his holy church.
10:03Sanctify, O Lord,
10:04we pray these offerings here,
10:06made to celebrate
10:08the glorious transfiguration
10:09of your only begotten Son,
10:11and by his radiant splendor,
10:14cleanse us from the stains of sin.
10:16Through Christ our Lord.
10:19The Lord be with you
10:21and with your spirit.
10:23Lift up your hearts.
10:24We lift them up to the Lord.
10:25Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
10:28It is right and just.
10:29It is truly right and just,
10:31our duty and our salvation,
10:33always and everywhere,
10:35to give you thanks,
10:36Lord, Holy Father,
10:37Almighty and eternal God,
10:39through Christ our Lord.
10:40For he revealed his glory
10:42in the presence of chosen witnesses,
10:45and filled with the greatest splendor
10:48that bodily form,
10:49which he shares with all humanity.
10:53that the scandal of the cross
10:54might be removed
10:55from the hearts of his disciples,
10:57and that he might show
10:59how in the body of the whole church
11:02is to be fulfilled,
11:03what so wonderfully shone forth
11:06first in its head.
11:07And so,
11:09with the powers of heaven,
11:10we worship you constantly on earth,
11:12and before your majesty
11:14without end,
11:15we acclaim,
11:16Holy,
11:18Holy,
11:19Holy Lord,
11:20God of hosts,
11:21heaven and earth
11:22are full of your glory.
11:24Hosanna in the highest.
11:26Blessed is he who comes
11:28in the name of the Lord.
11:30Hosanna in the highest.
11:35You are indeed holy, O Lord,
11:37the fount of all holiness.
11:39Make holy, therefore,
11:40these gifts we pray,
11:42by sending down your Spirit
11:43upon them like the dewfall,
11:45so that they may become for us
11:47the body and blood
11:48of our Lord Jesus Christ.
11:51At the time he was betrayed
11:53and entered willingly
11:54into his passion,
11:55he took bread,
11:56and giving thanks,
11:58broke it,
11:59and gave it to his disciples,
12:01saying,
12:02Take this, all of you,
12:04and eat of it,
12:06for this is my body,
12:10which will be given up
12:11for you.
12:44In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice.
12:49And once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying,
12:53Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood,
12:59the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
13:02which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.
13:07Do this in memory of me.
13:37The mystery of faith.
13:40We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.
13:47Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
13:51we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
13:56giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
14:02Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
14:06we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
14:10Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world
14:13and bring her to the fullness of charity together with Leo, our Pope,
14:17and Charles, our Bishop, and all the clergy.
14:20Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep
14:23in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy.
14:28Welcome them into the light of your face.
14:32Have mercy on us all.
14:33We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
14:36with blessed Joseph, her spouse,
14:38with the blessed apostles and all the saints
14:40who have pleased you throughout the ages,
14:43we may marry to be co-heirs to eternal life
14:46and may praise and glorify you
14:48through your Son, Jesus Christ.
14:54Through him and with him and in him, O God, almighty Father,
14:58in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
15:01all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.
15:05Amen.
15:09At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching,
15:12we dare to say,
15:14Our Father, who art in heaven,
15:17hallowed be thy name.
15:19Thy kingdom come,
15:20thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
15:24Give us this day our daily bread
15:26and forgive us our trespasses,
15:28as we forgive those who trespass against us.
15:32And lead us not into temptation,
15:34but deliver us from evil.
15:36Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
15:39Graciously grant peace in our days,
15:41that by the help of your mercy,
15:43we may be always free from sin
15:45and safe from all distress,
15:47as we await the blessed hope
15:49and the coming of our Savior,
15:51Jesus Christ.
15:52For the kingdom, the power, and the glory
15:55are yours now and forever.
15:57Lord Jesus Christ,
15:58who said to your apostles,
15:59Peace I leave you,
16:00my peace I give you.
16:01Look not on our sins,
16:03but on the faith of your church.
16:05And graciously grant her peace and unity
16:07in accordance with your will,
16:09who live and reign forever and ever.
16:11Amen.
16:12The peace of the Lord be with you always.
16:16Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
16:18Peace be with you.
16:33Lamb of God,
16:34you take away the sins of the world.
16:36Have mercy on us.
16:38Lamb of God,
16:40you take away the sins of the world.
16:42Have mercy on us.
16:43Lamb of God,
16:45you take away the sins of the world.
16:47Grant us peace.
17:17Behold the Lamb of God,
17:18behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
17:22Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
17:25Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
17:30but only say the word,
17:32and my soul shall be healed.
17:35My Jesus,
17:36I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
17:40I love you above all things,
17:42and I desire to receive you into my soul.
17:45Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
17:48commonly,
17:49spiritually,
17:49into my heart,
17:50I embrace you as if you were already there,
17:53and unite myself wholly to you.
17:56Never permit me to be separated from you.
17:59Amen.
18:01Let us pray.
18:05May the heavenly nourishment we have received,
18:08O Lord, we pray,
18:09transform us into the likeness of your Son,
18:13whose radiant splendor you willed
18:15to make manifest in his glorious transfiguration,
18:19who lives and reigns forever and ever.
18:23Amen.
18:24Friends, thank you for your prayerful company during this time,
18:28whenever you'll be seeing this online Mass.
18:31Let's continue to pray for each other,
18:33for each other's intentions,
18:35and that you and I may bring the transfigured face of Christ
18:39to everyone we meet today.
18:40The Lord be with you.
18:42May Almighty God bless you,
18:44the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
18:47Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord.
