00:01A man involved in the Klang dog catching operation that led to Rocky's death has
00:06denied joining the operation with any intention of harming or killing animals.
00:11Shah Hezam 24 told Haryan Metro he was heartbroken over the pet dog's death but
00:16maintained that he was only carrying out the duty given to him by the Klang Royal
00:20City Council. His lawyer Rafiq Rashid Ali warned that legal action could be taken
00:25against those who sent Shah death threats or spread defamatory claims about him
00:29online. Rafiq said Shah had joined the operation as a residence representative
00:33after being invited in writing by the local Rukun Tetangga. Members of the
00:38public who took part were also briefed by the council on dog catching procedures
00:42and given the necessary equipment including the neck loop used during the
00:47operation. According to Rafiq the situation became chaotic after a woman claiming to
00:52be Rocky's owner intervened leading to a struggle while the loop remained around
00:57the dog's neck. He added that 12 other stray dogs were caught without incident that
01:01night. Rafiq said Shah later faced severe online harassment after videos of the
01:07incident went viral with his identity exposed and death threats sent against
01:11him and his family. Rocky died during an enforcement operation in Port Klang on
01:17July 29th. The council previously said the dog's owner had behaved aggressively
01:22while trying to cut the noose restraining the dog. Police are investigating the case
01:27for mischief by killing an animal while the Selangor Veterinary Services Department is
01:32probing possible animal cruelty under the Animal Welfare Act. Amardeep Gill, FMT.
