00:04Lawyer Shafi Abdullah today declined to explain why former Prime Minister Najib Razak withdrew

00:09his appeals over his bid for house arrest and leave to initiate contempt proceedings

00:14against former Attorney General Ahmad Teriruddin Saleh.

00:18However, he added that he might speak about the matter on another occasion.

00:24It was early reported that Najib had withdrawn his appeal against a High Court decision,

00:28dismissing his application to serve the remainder of his SRC international prison sentence under

00:34house arrest.

00:37A notice of discontinuance was filed by his legal team, Messrs Shafi and Co. on April 3.

00:43Najib is also understood to have withdrawn his application for leave to initiate contempt

00:48proceedings against Teriruddin.

00:51The decision to discontinue the appeals was conveyed to the Attorney General's chambers.
