00:01Najib Razak's lawyer, Shafi Abdullah, has objected to testimony that fugitive businessman Joe Lowe was the former Prime Minister's proxy,
00:09arguing the claim was hearsay.
00:11The objection came as former 1MBB CEO, Shahrol Azrael Ibrahim Halmi, testified in the company's US$5.64 billion civil
00:19suit against Najib and several others.
00:21Shafi argued Shahrol had not heard the claim directly from Najib, but appeared to be relying on what Lowe had
00:28allegedly claimed.
00:30Judicial Commissioner Redzwan Idros ruled that the phrase describing Lowe as Najib's proxy would be disregarded from Shahrol's witness statement.
00:391MDB will file written submissions next week to address Shafi's separate objection to Shahrol's oral testimony on the same allegation.
00:47Meanwhile, 1MDB has withdrawn its suit against former Chief Financial Officer, Radhi Mohamad, after both sides reached a consent settlement.
00:55The court removed Radhi as a defendant, with no liberty for the suit to be filed against him again and
01:01no order on costs.
01:02Six defendants, including Najib, now remain in the suit, seeking to recover about US$5.64 billion allegedly misappropriated from
01:111MDB.
01:11The hearing continues on August 17th.
