00:00Well, AccuWeather is predicting a very quiet month of August in the Atlantic Basin pertaining
00:07to tropical activity. In fact, we may not have a storm, a named storm during the month of August.
00:13We think that's possible. That's a big statement to make because history tells us that August
00:19is quite busy for tropical activity. Here is the timing of the hurricane season. Storms per day
00:25since 1944 from May through early December. And note the sharp incline in named storms,
00:33which is tropical storms and hurricane here in the gold and hurricanes in the red. There is a steep
00:38incline during the month of August. And in fact, when you look at the numbers, August is the second
00:45busiest month of the hurricane season behind only September. August averages four named storms,
00:53two hurricanes. And we usually get the first hurricane of the season in the Atlantic Basin
00:59in August. Also, since 1961, there's only been three years where we haven't had a named storm
01:08during the month of August. The last year was 2022. All right. A lot of dry air and a lot
01:15of wind shear

01:32to remain persistent in the Atlantic Basin for much of this month. So as a result, we think there's
01:39limited tropical activity. We may not have a named storm due to widespread dry air and strong wind shear.
