00:00A cross-country storm is closing out the week. It's been a while since it hit California, but now it's
00:04exiting the northeast.
00:06And soaking the northeast. Heavy rain returned to the region after quite a dry spell.
00:11Take a look at the scene in New Jersey this morning. As heavy rain just pummeled the central and southern
00:16parts of the state,
00:17we've seen a lot of closed roads or lane restrictions because of flash flooding along the coast.
00:23A couple of lightning reports that we've been talking about as well.
00:26But the threat is not over yet. It just keeps on coming.
00:31So let's dive into the forecast here. Now, our forecasting team, what happens with graphics like these that we've been
00:36showing you all week?
00:37As this event is ongoing, we trim out the places that, OK, you're in the clear.
00:42The heaviest rain has passed to give you that update, that kind of all clear that I know we wait
00:47for in situations like this.
00:48So take a look. We've really trimmed this to just the coast coast.
00:54Until you get down Richmond-Norfolk area and then up into New England, Boston still in the threat for the
01:00heaviest rainfall.
01:01And let's take a look at future radar and you'll see why.
01:03Because as this stalled out boundary starts to move, it's really coastal New England,
01:09but all the way up to Boston, even north of Boston, that just gets stuck.
01:14Tomorrow morning, we still have rounds of rain moving in, kind of breaking off of the line and hitting coastal
01:20New England.
01:20Meanwhile, summer like coastal New Jersey, well, you finally get to dry out a little bit, at least for now.
01:26Because then we have that area of low pressure spinning, bringing round number two of rain to the interior northeast.
01:31Now, you see some yellows and oranges. There's certainly going to be some downpours.
01:35I don't want to completely rule out a little bit of flash flooding, but it's not going to be like
01:38the just deluge that we've had along the east coast this week.
01:42Maine, as always, you see this linger a little bit longer than everybody else.
01:46So Sunday is going to be the nicer day for outdoor plans for most of us.
01:49But into Maine, we can see a little bit of snow mixing in up into some of the higher elevations,
01:54green and white mountains.
01:55But Maine, you still have to deal with this Sunday.
01:57Now, Monday, another little disturbance comes through, just disrupting.
02:01I'm sure we're ready for another dry stretch after all of that rain.
02:04But unfortunately, we struggle to stay dry Monday with some showers.
02:08It's nothing too high impact, but just something to keep in mind.
02:11Now, of course, the other symptom, I guess you could say, of this storm and of this system, the other
02:17side effect, temperatures just plummeting.
02:20We're going from 79 was the observed high on Wednesday to a forecasted high 51 on Saturday in Buffalo here.
02:2859 are forecasted high Saturday in Boston.
02:31Meanwhile, we were close to 80 there on Wednesday as well.
02:34But you know what?
02:35This gets us back closer where we typically would be for this time of year.
02:39Look at the next couple of days.
02:41We do rebound.
02:42That's the good news.
02:43Boston or Washington, D.C. is who we're looking at, not Boston.
02:46By Tuesday, you're back above your historical average where we typically would be this time of year.
02:50You're back.
