01:08days in a row, like Munkin had to answer the question yesterday, could he actually be in consideration given if
01:15the other two aren't really able to separate themselves or is that just a non-starter to you?
01:21I mean, I think that everything has to be placed in this proper context.
01:25Like, yes, Dylan Gabriel has looked like a competent player out there.
01:30He's executed the offense pretty well, and I think he's made some really good throws.
01:35But, you know, you also want to, you know, kind of add the fact that it's been against a lot
01:41of, you know, the second and third stringers.
01:44Like, he's throwing a said Tillman who has a lot of NFL starts and receptions under his belt, and, you
01:49know, he's probably doing what he's expected to do against third-string quarterbacks.
01:53Like, at the same time, you know, to Munkin's point, like, hey, if somebody is, you know, performing well, I
01:59think they should get more opportunities.
02:00And in the context of a quarterback room that, you know, I don't think anybody's necessarily wowed me, you know,
02:06between Shador and Deshaun through, what is this now, five practices.
02:10Maybe you're a little open to it, but I don't know if you want to muddy this anymore.
02:16You know, it's already, you know, kind of, you know, bad enough that we're, you know, a week into the
02:21summer, we're in the summer training camp.
02:23We're first week of August, and, you know, we're still trying to figure out who's going to start.
02:27But then, like, are we really going to do this same song and dance from last year where now we've
02:31got three guys splitting first-team reps?
02:33At some point, we've got to kind of define this thing, make a decision as soon as possible, and try
02:38to move forward.
02:39Why aren't you getting cussed out, and I am?
02:41Well, you don't know he's not getting cussed out.

03:15Nobody is lying about what this season could possibly be getting ready for 2027, and I'm going, I'm in a
03:21position to be choosy here all of a sudden, Daniel?

03:27And honestly, like, I think that, you know, if we're going to say that, you know, Shador got a raw
03:32deal in terms of, you know, the talent around him or whatnot, I think that I think Dylan at least
03:36deserves a little bit of grace.
03:39So I'm at least open to, you know, him maybe being, like, a competent backup and someone that can execute
03:45an offense if there's some talent around him and, you know, things are really aligned kind of, you know, more
03:50favorably.
03:51But, again, like, we don't need to muddy this up any more than it already is.
03:56Todd Monken has, you know, spoken very positively and glowingly about what he thinks Shador Sanders can be.
04:02So I think that right now, let Deshaun and Shador see it out, let them continue to take these first
04:07-team reps.
04:08If, you know, Dylan really, really comes on strong and both these guys that are competing for the number one
04:14spot really just are not, you know, improving at all, maybe it's a discussion.
04:18But I don't see that right now as an option after five practices in one week.
04:24Obviously, yeah, when you put it in those terms, it is so very early.
04:28So I don't think anybody should be making a definitive statement right now.
04:34And especially, you've been there every single day.
04:36You said nobody's necessarily wowed you.
04:38The question, and you bring it up perfectly when you say muddying the waters on Dylan Gabriel.
04:44So any more reps that Dylan gets, I mean, it's a zero-sum game.
04:48They've got to come from somebody else, given how training camp works.
04:52But I do have to ask, why wasn't, even though we weren't huge fans, why wasn't Dylan Gabriel considered in
05:01this competition?
05:02What had the others done, either last year or in the offseason?
05:08What was it?
05:09Because we do remember Dylan Gabriel was drafted ahead of, you know, the other rookie, Shador Sanders.
05:15Yeah, well, I think Deshaun's situation kind of speaks for itself.
05:19You know, it's a little bit of a sunk cost fallacy at this point.
05:22You know, $230 million.
05:24He's still on the roster.
05:26Munkin's trying to see if he can squeeze any bit of that previous Pro Bowl form out of him.
05:32And then I think, you know, Munkin did watch some of the film.
05:35And he saw a guy in Shador who, you know, is extremely accurate throwing the deep ball.
05:39Throws a very catchable ball.
05:40And like he said, you know, his superpower is kind of being able to kind of make those instinctive playmaking
05:46abilities.
05:47Obviously, Dylan, you know, had a very decorated college career.
05:50But like the truth is, you know, he is a limited athlete as a passer in the NFL.
05:55That's not to say that, again, like I said before, that he can't be a competent backup if, you know,
06:01he's put in a very specific system.
06:03And there's a lot of talent around him and things are kind of drawn up favorably for him.
06:07But like Munkin said, like, hey, like everybody's going to compete.
06:10But like, hey, like we got to we got to have like the depth chart defined a little bit or
06:15else like we're not making any progress.
06:16Like people are already mad that they're still splitting reps between Shador and Deshaun.
06:21And people think that Shador should get all the reps.
06:23Like we're going nowhere fast if we try to divide it up, you know, three ways like we kind of
06:28did last year.
06:29Like that that is not a recipe for success and no momentum.
06:34So, yeah, I'd like to keep it to two.
06:36I got to tell you, let me put you on a on a let me put you on a hot

06:44We've only had a couple of weeks of practice, not even a full week of practice.

06:51I'm starting Shador Sanders.
06:53Yeah.
06:53I mean, and again, I don't think anybody, any quarterback is necessarily wowed me, but I think the biggest difference
06:58through five practices that I can definitively say is that Shador Sanders is taking care of the ball and he's
07:03comfortable pushing the ball downfield.
07:05You know, we'll see if Deshaun can, you know, kind of pick it up over the next coming weeks and
07:10then into training camp.
07:11But one thing that I've noticed from him is just he just seems like he's just like a tick slow
07:16in the processing.
07:18I asked him specifically if he's still trying to reacclimate to the speed of the game.
07:22And he talked about trying to let his instincts take over.
07:25And I feel like he's just hesitating a lot.
07:28And I don't know if it's a mental thing.
07:29I don't know if it's a physical thing.
07:30But I just see him kind of hitch, hesitate a little too much, maybe not trust what he sees.
07:35And that's when we've kind of seen some of those head-scratching interceptions.
07:38But, you know, if I throw Shador out there, you know, let's say tomorrow to win a game for my
07:43life, you know, I don't know if the pre-snap is going to be perfect.
07:46I don't know if, you know, all the situational decisions are going to be perfect.
07:49But that's kind of life with a young quarterback.
07:52But I know that he's going to be comfortable throwing the ball downfield.
07:55And he's not going to be afraid to let it rip.
07:57But at least if I have to die at the end of the game, I'll have fun doing it.

08:02See, that's something you notice there.
08:04Like, yesterday, like, okay, I went to camp on Saturday, but I was with a youth group.
08:09Like, I could barely see any actual practice.
08:11I can only go by reports.
08:13Right, Daniel?
08:13Like, yesterday, you know, you hit on something.
08:16Because I'm like, I thought both were pretty solid.
08:17But I'm like, yeah, Deshaun should still be way ahead on decision-making considering his experience.
08:26And he's really not.
08:28That would be a leg up for Shador Sanders in this race.
08:31Absolutely.
08:33Yeah, I mean, and again, like, you know, there's, like, Deshaun has missed a lot of time, but there's just
08:38some decision-making there that just really can't happen.
08:43And now, like, we'll see what happens when we, you know, we keep on getting more of these pattern practices,
08:47run practices in preseason games.
08:49But it's just, like, as much as Munkin has said, like, hey, I'm not really evaluating these guys after four
08:55days of install.
08:55At the same time, it's like, I really don't want, you know, my nine-year quarterback making some of these
09:00decisions in install.
09:02You know, what's going to happen when we get into, like, real joint practices and real preseason games?
09:06I think that's the only thing that's a little concerning.
09:10But, you know, again, I think that Deshaun is very much still trying to get back into form and react
09:17to the speed of the game and really just kind of trust himself both physically and mentally.
09:22You know, you had mentioned getting the plays in, all the pre-snap stuff.
09:29Where do you think Shador is?
09:31How much better can he get at that stuff in this short amount of time as, you know, it's kind
09:36of a rush to be named the starting quarterback, you know, at some point during either the end of training
09:42camp or certainly before the season starts?
09:44Yeah, I think he can get a lot better.
09:46And that's just, like, you know, that immense room for growth as being a second-year quarterback.
09:50I think that yesterday was, like, a perfect encapsulation of why we can't judge these practices just by, like, the
09:58highlights that are posted and maybe the lowlights that are posted.
10:01So I'll give you a perfect example.
10:03Towards the end of practice, they're doing end-of-game situational drills.
10:06There's, like, 15 seconds left on the clock.
10:08The ball's at the 10-yard line.
10:09Zero timeouts down by two, I think, down by two or three.
10:13Shador drops back, and he holds the ball for way, way, way too long, throws the ball out the back
10:18of the end zone.
10:19No timeout left.
10:20No time left.
10:22In a real game, that's an L, and everyone's mad.
10:25Munkin was very mad.
10:27Not too long later, they're running the two-minute drill.
10:30We all see the dime that Shador throws to Gage Larvedon in the end zone to walk it off.
10:35But if you saw the pre-snap video, he moved the tight end in to get max protection because he
10:42knew the defense was throwing a blitz at him.
10:44So he was able to get the protection set, throw a nice pass, great ending to practice.
10:50So that's, like, the highs and lows, the peaks and the valleys.
10:53That's the entirety of this quarterback competition, of the growth of a young quarterback, even from the start of one
11:02practice to the end.
11:03So I think that there's a lot of room for growth, and we're seeing some of that with Shador kind
11:07of day in and day out.
11:08Should I be concerned with the offensive line already?
11:13Other than the natural reasons of putting those guys together?
11:17I mean, it's early.
11:19Like, there's very few offenses that just, like, look like, you know, the best offensive line in the NFL after
11:26a week, especially when you're, like, not practicing with pads.
11:29You know, I'll tell you, like, for sure, I think after during practices, like, with the Bills, we'll have a
11:37good sense of, like, most aspects of this team, honestly.
11:40Because you're just going up against a different team, different scheme.
11:44The intensity gets heightened even more.
11:46I think by then we'll have a pretty good sense.
11:49But obviously, you know, there's still very much a work in progress, as is to be expected, when you have
11:54five new starters on the offensive line.
11:57Real quick, I love what I saw out of Denzel Boston.
12:01I love what's being said about him.
12:03Has he been that good, or am I just that star for a good wide receiver?
12:09He's been that good.
12:10Thank God.
12:11He's been that good.
12:12And he's been better than I even thought, honestly.
12:14Like, I was not as high on him as I was some of these other, you know, wide receiver, top
12:19wide receiver prospects.
12:21But I've been really pleasantly surprised by him.
