00:00This is afternoons yesterday where they had mentioned how the excitement has been extinguished
00:04of the Cleveland Browns because Deshaun Watson is the quarterback.
00:07We also have further proof that I think some of the hope that usually gets thrown out there
00:12by the end of the season is being extinguished a little bit.
00:15Gary Davenport, you remember old Davy?
00:17Oh yeah, classic Davy.
00:18Yeah, I mean this is, when I think of this, I think of Gary.
00:21He had a short list of, or he said the Browns are on the short list of teams
00:26that'll end up being the worst teams in the NFL.
00:28And it does feel like the excitement, optimism, whatever you want to call it for the Browns
00:33has faded over the last week or so.
00:35I understand that it is mostly tied to Deshaun Watson for people.
00:39My hope of what this team is and will be is not extinguished because Deshaun Watson's starting week one.
00:45Yeah, Gary goes, the winner in all this, all 14 of the Browns opponents.
00:49What is that? Is it too harsh? It's honest.
00:51The Browns are barreling toward a very Cleveland season.
00:53Sounds like a truth broker, this Gary Davenport.
00:56It might happen to be that.
00:57Yeah, I mean, it's hard. It's hard to get excited when you know that Deshaun Watson's going to be the
01:01quarterback.
01:01It's also hard to get excited depending on what version of Deshaun Watson you think that they're getting
01:06or how long they're going to be getting Deshaun Watson for.
01:08If I believed, like you, that it was two weeks and then we're on to Shador,
01:11that's way different than if I believed that the Browns are going to put him out there for eight weeks.
01:15It's night and day. I mean, eight weeks is a massive chunk of the season.
01:18All right, what did you think about what Ben just said?
01:20And then we just played afternoons.
01:22What did you think of that in comparison?
01:25Look, there definitely would be more excitement if Shador was starting this year.
01:30But like the notion that like they kind of acted during their show yesterday and during that segment,
01:35like all of a sudden people are so down on the Browns nationally.
01:39People were going to be down on the Browns, whether it was Dylan Gabriel, Shador Sanders, or Deshaun Watson.
01:44They don't think any of those guys are good.
01:46So they would have had the Browns finishing dead last in the division.
01:49There's excitement about some of their young players, sure.
01:52You know, when you're bad and you get a bunch of high draft picks like the Browns have,
01:56and it looks like there's some promise with some of them.
01:58Yeah, there's going to be excitement.
02:00But I don't think the difference between how people feel about the Browns nationally
02:05is whether they're starting Deshaun Watson or Shador or Dylan Gabriel.
02:08I'm not really seeing that.
02:09I thought they were a six-win team before.
02:11I think they're a five-win team, and that was after the Bills' performance.
02:15You're playing against third-teamers.
02:16You're playing with third-teamers.
02:17You're supposed to elevate things, and you made it so much more worse.
02:20So much worse.
02:22Where I can meet them in their point, and I don't think they're wrong about that.
02:27Excitement's one thing.
02:28Curiosity's another.
02:29I think the national media was curious of Shador.
02:33I think that they are excited for the possibility of something new to be either right
02:37about what they had previously said about Shador or wrong about what they had previously said
02:41about Shador Sanders.
02:43With Deshaun Watson, it seems like this is done.
02:45This has already been – we have seen all the evidence we need to know that he is not
02:51coming back as a quarterback, and then he comes back as a quarterback.
02:53And I told you, I got really down last week because I go, man, this is 2022 all over again.
02:58And that's kind of where I think that they were at when they mentioned that yesterday,
03:03that I was just going to go through another anonymous Brown season that, yeah, probably would
03:10have been a little dramatic because it's the Browns, but we were going to see if Shador
03:13Sanders was going to be able to hack it or not.
03:16And more than likely, yeah, your quarterback is – you're about 80% sure your quarterback
03:21or your future is in college right now.
03:24But there was still like, hey, I got nothing.
03:26Even with all the craziness that goes off on the internet, and I told you guys, I can't
03:30say it enough.
03:31I think there's a bunch of burners.
03:33I think there's a bunch of bots.
03:34I don't give a damn.
03:35I don't hear a bunch of people screaming out in the road or anything like that.
03:39I think they just want the Browns to win, and that's the way it goes.
03:43But going back to last week, it was just very 2022.
03:49And I left my problems with it beforehand, and I go, well, you know, I could sit there
03:57and try to get on a high ground here, or I can just be honest with everybody.
04:00Like, I'm not going to leave liking professional football.
04:04I'm not going to leave liking the Cleveland Browns.
04:06It ain't going to happen.
04:07So I might as well just go with it and shut up and stop doing all the other stuff that's
04:12there.
04:12But, like, again, like I brought up the Joe Posnanski thing.
04:15Oh, dear Browns, I'm done.
04:17Oh, okay, now you're done.
04:18Okay, I didn't know that.
04:19Some of the other ones, like just the articles and things like that, it just, oh, the big
04:25think pieces of how nasty the Browns are.
04:28I'm like, man, this is 2022 all over again.
04:32And it would have changed had he played well, because this is professional sports.
04:36That's the part of what Ben brought up.
04:38And I think Ben's right about that.
04:40So how does that make you feel as a fan, that the only way we care about the accusations
04:46anymore is whether he's good at football?
04:48How does that make fans feel?
04:50Because we know it's right.
04:51We know 100% had Deshaun Watson been really good the last time we saw him and then suffered
04:56that injury.
04:57That's a totally different story.
04:59But because he's not good at football, now we care more about the allegations.
05:03Is that a window into who we are as football fans?
05:06Before they had him, and this is tough, there was a whole thing about, like, hey, the Steelers
05:14got a couple of championships, but they got this weirdo as their quarterback, and he's
05:20been accused of some bad things.
05:24And it was always like, hey, you know, we've had some guys, no team's perfect, but we don't
05:29have that.
05:31And then you have a guy who's been accused, and those never went to court, those things
05:37have been settled, we've been through this a million times.
05:40Never been arrested.
05:41But it was like, hey, man, never been arrested.
05:43And it was like, hey, you ain't special.
05:45You ain't special.
05:47They're trying to win, just like every other team.
05:49There is no high ground that I could take.
05:52And so once that happened, it's like, well, I can't play that card anymore.
05:56And if you can't play that card anymore, as weird as that is to say, because some of this
06:01is scorekeeping between fans, which is sick, because there's alleged real people who are
06:06affected by this.
06:07Which, by the way, I don't do that.
06:10I know you don't.
06:10I know you don't.
06:11The only thing I do is I always question when the Browns draft a player who has any kind
06:16of allegations against them.
06:17And I'm like, man, I hope you really investigated.
06:22I hope you did this.
06:23And unfortunately, some guys like Perrion Winfrey, we lose them anyway, we draft them, and then
06:27that's the end of it.
06:27But you're critical for the right things.
06:29Like, is he going to be able to get on the field for me?
06:30Is he going to be able to keep his nose clean on the field?
06:33Like, I'm not going to lie.
06:34Like, yeah, I participated in that type of other thinking years ago.
06:38And I wish I didn't.
06:40It was immature.
06:41Absolutely.
06:42And you can't play that anymore.
06:44And it's like, all right, if you're going to go through all this and we're going to
06:48make this judgment, you better be good.
06:51Not only were you not good, you were awful.
06:55Okay?
06:56And it just dredges up the bad feelings.
06:59And I think that that's where Nick and Jonathan are on it because you go from, hey, we'll
07:04find out what Shador has.
07:06Maybe it's good.
07:06Maybe it's not.
07:07I know that they've been more supportive of Shador than probably any show in the city,
07:12but we'll find out whether or not he's got it.
07:14But you know what?
07:14I still got, and I can go down the laundry list.
07:17I got Spencer Fano, Casey Conception, and Harold Fannin Jr., and Denzel Boston.
07:23And you know what?
07:24Now we got this Michael Coates kid.
07:25I know that he might be a little bit banged up, but we'll see what he can do.
07:28And I got Mason Graham.
07:30I mean, we can go down the list here.
07:31Like, I got other guys that I can get excited with.
07:33No, now we're going to go right back to the way things were and get that dark cloud over
07:38our heads again.
07:39And there's very little, if anybody, has any faith whatsoever that he's going to play well.
07:46So you don't get to really change and shy away from that.
07:51You don't.
07:51Because it's bad.
07:53And you're the one who has to deal with it.
07:54Like, other teams, they've had guys accused and even found guilty of some really bad stuff.
08:03And they went out there and they still won.
08:05They went out there and still accomplished.
08:07And we've had a guy who didn't get arrested, like you said.
08:11Whatever's settled is settled.
08:13These are civil lawsuits, accusations.
08:16And my team's still not good.
08:18And I'm still dealing with the fallout five years later as a fan.
08:212-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
08:23Like, that does have an effect on fans.
08:26It does have an effect on Nick and Jonathan.
08:27I can understand where they were coming from a little bit there.
08:30Like me, hey, the difference between five and six wins?
08:33Draft spots.
08:35But if they were talking way more wins than that, I can never really nail them down on how many
08:39wins they are going to get.
08:41But whatever.
08:42They still thought it was going to be more than six and more than five now where I'm at.
08:46But, yeah, it's a downer for them.
08:49It's a real big downer for them.
